#200 was always correct but I still see 1499 for the main history thread. (even after this post) There's 2 ways into this thread: PPWCRC/History/SPH and PPWCRC/SPWCMH/MISC/SPH I wonder if that has something to do with it. THX?
ClueMaster, the main "History" thread only contains a link to the "St Paul History" thread. So, it's not really considered part of the "History" thread. It's considered part of the "Misc" folder in the "St Paul Winter Carnival" main folder.
hastings pond showed up on my 1950s streetcar rails map. I was wondering what it was, looks like it was located south of my place, possibly around a mile.
<XBODY>Thank you for sending along these names. They are exactly what I am looking for. Right now, we have our grandchildren staying with us, which is all consuming. When I have a little more time, I will follow up on your names, and write you further. Thanks again for sending them along.

Devils Ditch-located between E 7th St And Case Ave along birmingham St. Used to be a home for the retarded called the Greenbrair home on a portion of the property and there was a big ditch/ ravine that extended to 7th St from the end of the building. The location has been raised and is now a drainage system that was established when the sewers were seperated from rain runoff. Harding Woods- Large ravine just west of Harding High School in St Paul. Wiches woods-extended from Mcknight rd to Century Ave along railroad tracks. Large set of woods mostly gone by now. Cemstone cement pond / Vankirk Dump- was a pond of cement runoff from Cemstone washing out the trucks. was a pretty good sized pond next to a huge ravine that was filled in called "the Van Kirk Dump" Vankirks lived/owned this dump. The "cement Pond" was located a block north of minnehaha St and about 4 blocks west of hazelwood st. The adjoining dump was located south of of e 7th St and extended about 4 blocks south and west of hazelwood St and extended to about where the post office is on minnehaha.
I wonder why the History thread is staying at 1499 even after adding a post?
My computer says it's #200

I think it's because there are 4 discussions in the folder. But it is still at 1499

I know about the poor farm growing up. My parents talked about it all the time. As in, "You're going to put us to the poor farm!" ;)
And speaking of old cemeteries. There's a small, very old cemetery tucked away on the bluff near Fleming Field in So. St. Paul.
funny, since LL posted info about the poor farm a few monthes back all I run into is information on it! constantly!
Very Cool! thanks for sharing

Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?
My freezer has a light.
Mine does too. And I fixed it so it stays on so my cat doesn't freak out while she's in there.
