I think Lance should lock out those that don't pay anything.
Lots of discussion on that over in that thread.  And that's not an option for Lance anyway since he won't budge from his promise that PF shall remain free for all. He's said it as plain as day and people are still bugging him with this. There were other plans that were posted that should be given serious thought though. Lance has a hard decision to make. Risk sticking to his laurels and run the ship the way he feels it should be run or step aside and have someone else take over who wants to run it the way the people do. There's really no right or wrong answer here. Either way could succeed or fail. Just make a decision. And shutting the place down isn't the answer if taking either road IMO.

My opinion is: This place will not be here for next years hunt (2006). Maybe not even for the 2005 hunt.
I don't blame Lance, I blame those that use this place and don't pay anything.
If you don't want to support PeoplesForum, fine. But you shouldn't be here.
I don't mean to be abrasive, and I apologize to those that have and do contribute, but to those of you that don't, you're a bunch of leeches and should sell your computers if you can't afford a handful of dollars a year.
One thing I find interesting is that at the top of the screen it says "Where you rule", yet a number of people want to convert to a pay plan and he won't do it.
and wrt to this place being around for the 06 hunt, kids and i were chatting about this the other day. thinking about how to come up with a way to distribute this sort of thing over all of us who have high speed, server-able internet connections, and have it perform decently.
now if only i had the spare cycles to actually think hard about that :)
It's the thousands of cheap ass bastards that use this forum regularly but pay nothing that are bringing the place down.
In the about section of Peoples Forum it says that membership is free. Also, I do not see why it takes $3,000 per month to have a computer with internet connection and a website. Maybe I am wrong, but that seems to be a little steep. If I am a "cheap ass bastard" for prefering to use my money for my family rather than as a donation to a "free" forum, then so be it. If you prefer, I will leave and let you who pay to use this free site have it.
I guess it's kinda-like our Public School system, by your own logic... Everyone pays a little bit, and we all reap the benefits.
It's nothing like that at all. Bad comparison. I have a choice in regards to PeoplesForum.
And if you Voted, or go to plays, or do anything at all that reaches into the Public Schools (which we all do in our lives, at some point in time) then you should pay a little bit for that priviledge, right THX?
I've never said I shouldn't. Don't try to insinuate otherwise.
I suppose you send a penny in each time you use Google, or Yahoo, etc., etc.??? Of course you do.
No, but they're not asking me to. If they did charge, and I wished to use their service, then yes, I would send them their money.
I wouldn't expect you to pay for me to use it, if that's what you're trying to say.
Ahhhhhhh, Foldo. The MAN was OVER 17. His mommy had nothing to say about it. Delayed in buying a car? Oh-My-God!!! The son is going off to a war SHE doesn't agree with? Yeah, so?
"When I enlisted, I figured we'd never get deployed except for a flood or something."...This is the type of dumbass Fold continues to defend. In other words, give me all the benies, but don't expect me to actually defend my country.
Despite a year of ferocious combat, mounting casualties and frequent deployments, support for the war in Iraq remains very high among the active-duty military, according to a Military Times Poll.
Sixty-three percent of respondents approve of the way President Bush is handling the war, and 60% remain convinced it is a war worth fighting. Support for the war is even greater among those who have served longest in the combat zone: Two-thirds of combat vets say the war is worth fighting.
But the men and women in uniform are under no illusions about how long they will be fighting in Iraq; nearly half say they expect to be there more than five years.
In addition, 87%% say they're satisfied with their jobs and, if given the choice today, only 25% say they'd leave the service.
Compared with last year, the percentages for support for the war and job satisfaction remain essentially unchanged.
A year ago, 77% said they thought the military was stretched too thin to be effective. This year, that number shrank to 66%.
The poll might have been a little more believeableif they had asked people on active duty and Guardsmen, who do NOT serve in a War Zone.
Well they did ask people on active duty and guardsmen. And yes the people who they asked were in a war zone. I would think if you're trying to get a feel for how the troops feel and the poll is asking how the war is going, you might just want to ask the people that are actually there fighting it. Perhaps they would get a more accurate picture of what's going on in the war by asking someone in Cleaveland?
Yea the poll would have been more accurate had they not asked the people actually there. Amazing.

A picture from Iraq of a few of our brave Minnesota folks. My personal favorite is my nephew who is second from the left. His left hand is extended with an "I (heart) you" message for his wife and children.
So about 0.6% of the troops there got killed, less if you figure in all that have been there and now returned to the states. Not good if you are the parent of such a person, but how many did we lose on the beaches of Normandy alone? How many of the bad guys are now gone also? Not bad when you put it into perspective.
You are one very abusive and angry person, aren't you.
In the same sentence you attempt to slam someone for being illiterate on an obvious typo you choose to express yourself with vulgarities. Must be your higher education paying off? I know children who would laugh at and snicker at such simple mistakes such as his. In reading your past posts you clearly seem to have a firm grasp on taking any and every opportunity to basically be a jerk. In almost all of your rebuttal statements you seem to take joy in being combative regardless of topic all while flaunting your little pointless dove of peace.
In your own words....
You aren't THAT naive, are you?
Don't be angry because you act immature and someone pointed it out :)
(Thanks.)

Fold was ranting today at me. I basically got two things from him in those responses. He wanted me to leave and he wanted me to leave again.
He wasn't even able to see the simple point in my message. I wasn't speaking about the group as a whole using vulgarities. I just found it amazing that after all the rants and raves fold pushes off on here that he would take a lame shot at an obvious typo. Then take to speaking in terms of a persons literacy (or lack there of) with coarse language like a young child playing a game. As for the the quote I used that he wrote to LUV I could have cared less about the post related to it. Again, fold seems to be unable to read the details in whats being said.
It was a simple example of his better then everyone else attitude that stops his opinions from meaning much more then wasted posts.
It's bothersome to see someone with a few good ideas put out to waste because he is unable to communicate them in a socially acceptable manner. I look forward to his rants. They just solidify my point.
Mmmm K.
Normally, one of the deadliest days in the war for the U.S. would arouse a little more interest, especially just before the holidays.
Or, maybe the country's become numbed to it.

New media, as in talk radio, brushed it off this p.m. Nothing from Hewitt and the Alliance.

JT doesn't need to talk like that.
But a few dollars would be generous. I put a check in the mail. I get a something out of this place. That's worth some money, when you think about it.

The $3,000 is to cover past bills. It costs Lance about $1,000 a month to keep this place up and running.
I apologize for being so abrasive, but yes I do believe if you use this site regularly, you should contribute something.

You may find someone you know at this website http://www.k102.com/northernlights/photos.html K-102 did a live broadcast from there and met many from our area.

OTS, that's an accurate discription of Bill-Fold. If you dare disagree with him on any subject, you're the idiot.
You will also see that Fold will always make himself out to be the victim.
I kinda noticed that. :)

The really sad part is I agree with some of the things fold believes in.
Problem comes when people act out like that. Their opinion becomes null and void in the eyes of most people who see them behave as such.
Self control would be the key word here.
Nice patch-heh.
