Hayden heights isn't too bad, I was just surprized at the bullying that was going on, and right in front of me! like I wasn't even there! I suppose he thought maybe cuz I wasn't a teacher that I wouldn't do anything, BOY WAS HE WRONG!

In udder respects... Well... You dope! Here, allow me to rephrase the question:

"THX, do you know how I could call, e-mail - a letter would take too long, and I don't know how to yodel not to mention they'd not HEAR it from here... - Marley and Aretmis? If you would, please sir, e-gram me with the info, I would be indebted to you."

I'm so glad I'm not a mom to younger children. I don't know what I'd do/how I'd keep my cool.

Goodnight Green.

LL and lisa - My kids have been out of school for a long time so I can't be much help - but I know Webster was a great school when my kids attended and I understand they are much the same now in how that school operates during the day. Not that there aren't some issues - every school has some of that crap.

There are also all the newer charter schools that some families I have talked to feel are good choices for them.

I think the best thing is to visit open houses and ask for tours and discuss the concerns you have had up til now. You just might find the right fit for your children and for you.

As Terry knows, Webster is where our girls attend. They each had the same teacher for kindergarten. She called us at home within the first 2 weeks just to see how things were going for our child, if we had any concerns - and gave us her home phone #.

There are spats and teasing and I suppose some bullying that goes on, but for the most part any behavior that isn't respectful is dealt with quickly.

I am most impressed with the wide range of subject matter they have available to them. They each have taken a second language since kindergarten (they expose the kids to the different languages available in kindergarten - like sampler classes), woodshop, science, music, prealgebra. It is the only elemtary school in the system that has 2 full time gifted and talented teachers.

We looked at some other schools a year or so ago. Mainly because of the exposure to more behavior problems than we would like. But after visiting a couple of the charter schools and one or two private ones, we decided to stay put. None of the schools we saw came close to the level of learning they have where they are.

It would be nice to believe that my child will never be picked on, or teased, or have some kid try to steal stuff from them on the bus; but that's just not reality. Kids can be terribly cruel! I've just tried to teach them how to handle themselves in those sticky situations, and to tell us about the times that they didn't feel comfortable so we can talk about them, and so far, so good.

I'll put away my soap box for now....

Just one more thought before I hit the bed...

At least at our school, they allow us to go in and visit the classrooms in the Spring for the grade level our children will enter the following fall, and to request a particular teacher. It's made clear that parent request is not the first criteria considered, but so far we've gotten our wishes.

Might be something to consider if overall the schools your kids are at seem to be good, or you really want something close to home, or with particular hours.

With that, goodnight and SCD's!
