Well, I saw the back specialist today for a follow up appt on my back / sciatic pain. She's not recommending surgery at this time. YEAH!! What a relief! She said because i'm seeing substantial improvement / relief with physical therapy that we should continue on that route. I find out tomorrow (Wed) from my general doc when (if) I will be going back to work any time soon.

Great news Ares and Fatbottmgirl (don't want you to forget your humble beginnings)!  When's the staggette party??

The summer is slipping away!  Can't believe we're coming up on the 4th of July so soon.

I haven't posted here for weeks (months?) but I have been trying to keep up!  So, congrats go to TC & Ares!  And also to Frosti on the recent real estate buy/sell.  And Kitch his upcoming transactions....

Sympathies to Me2 & family on the loss of Mary.  Hugs to Whitney - you guys did a fabulous thing striving to extend her life.

OH!  And good luck with the interview, Frosti!  Know it's over and done with now, but wishing you luck with the outcome ;).

We have been up to the typical summer type stuff, mostly trying to keep the kids entertained.  Dad was laid off in February, don't know if I'd mentioned that way back when, but try to think good thoughts and send some positive vibes for him/us....he's still not found anything.  He has at least been able to be home with the kids, a lot more anyway, and gotten a couple of house projects done.

Emily is playing softball for the first time, and the teams are all going out to the Twins game this evening.  They get to parade on the field!  Exciting for her....I get to stay home with the other 2.

TC will have to tell us all about ares' romantic proposal.

Last nights nightmaredream wasnt soooo bad though...I was in one of those competitions, like the reality show where the man chooses a woman. He chose ME! wow! thats a first-I got shot down a lot with men -so it felt good to be chosen.

The loss of a pet can be such a hard thing to go through let alone having to try to explain loss/death to a child.

Okay - since I am actually here and have a few minutes, I'll throw this out there....

This is for all the law students/scholars...and anyone who just might know the answer...

My mom wants to add my name onto her property records so that when she passes away the transition will be an easy process.   The people at Ramsey County will not help us in any way as far as what type of form needs to be filed - they recommended consulting a lawyer.  I have run across a couple of different documents - one is a "quit claim deed", and the other is an "affidavit of survivorship".  Has anyone been through this before?  Are either of these forms the correct one for what we want??  Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

when my grandma died-the 5 kids sold the house and split the money -I dont ever recall deeds ever being in any of their names-

 

I'm not a lawer but, I have used this document before. It is for removing someones name off of a property deed. Sounds to me like you're looking for the other one you mentioned.

No, she's not in a nursing home.....really old would depend on perspective, I guess.  At the risk of offending any of the more *senior* posters here, no, not *really* old hehehe....she just turned 75.  She's in pretty good health, manages all her own affairs, but she wants to plan ahead.

We're planning on heading up north for the long weekend.  First time we've been up since Memorial Day.  I'm looking forward to not *having* to do anything!

I, too, want to hear about the proposal and if there is any significance in the wedding date that was chosen.

Congrats to all the new property owners!  We're closing on our land deal next Friday. 

Mom - We have had an attorney tell us putting our kids on the title of our property is a good idea.  We need to talk with him further about that and get our wills in order and all that...but that might be just a little bit further down the road.  First we have to get to this closing and working those finances before paying an attorney for all that.

Congratulations, too, CM!  Way to go!!!

LL- Sorry to read about Butterscotch.  Pets are a wonderful thing - but the downside is that we most often outlive them. 

And ESD, Congratulations on the honor roll thing!  Way to go!!!

As for the property, MOM, I imagine that what you are interested in is a new warranty deed. Your mother would sign it as both the "buyer" and the "seller" and you would sign in the "buyer" area. Assuming, of course, that the house is unencumbered by a mortgage. But check with an attorney first. (You could always sign up for pf's pre paid legal service and help out the forum :)

On another note, we're having a divorce party for a good friend of mine tonight.  She gave him his papers on his birthday as a present.  Some guys have all the luck.  ;-)
