Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

Oh you didn't know?

Anyone out there believe that it hasn't been hidden yet? That way, they're sure it won't be found too early.

Personally I think that the guy who writes these clues is an idiot. Last year the hunt was really a lot of fun, you basically new what park it was at, but everyone was

out there having a good time looking. This year though, no one has a damn clue where it is, no matter how much they say they do, and everyone is SO frustrated that

hardly anyone is looking at all. YOu go out to look, and the parks are empty. They REALLY blew it this year.

But the clue writers want the clues to be general enough to fit several parks...that is the HUNT!! But if you REALLY GET IT...only one fits the best and then of

course they narrow it down more...Radar what park are you looking in...maybe I can help a little...

I think conway is a good bet, you have a sledding hill, a library on the grounds, baseball, hockey, no golf course, and wilson tied in really nice last night. agreements

How about HP, there's a new police station by the newer swimming pool, and the old cop shop is 3 blks north on hamline, and the old pool is buried across the

street from the new one.

Sorry to those that saw this earlier...but I will explain the line of tree thing again. Mostly cause I can't get it out of my mind.

Last night, actually early this morning, we were digging in Newell. Left Newell about 2am, and drove out to Highland to do a look/see....didn't see much and almost

no hunters....so went towards home and just on a whim decided to drive down towards the Capitol Mall. Came down Summit, past the cathedral and as we got

closer to the capitol, WHAM! It hit me!!! A line of trees!!!! Boulevard!!!!! The name John Ireland appeared!!!!!!!!!! John Ireland Boulevard!!!!!!!

For those who think it is Merriam: How does thinking of a line of trees..to a name...to a valuable sign turn into the Grand Casino sign? A name didn't lead there, the

line of trees did. So is the name grand Casino supposed to lead to the valuable sign? How's that?

Also. Every year I think of complicated ways the clues shake out. I marvel at how smart the clue makers are, etc... And every year, when they publish the clues and

meanings, I am shocked at how dumb they are. how much more they could have done, and how everyone totally over analyzed the clues. But it's still fun as hell.
