1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

My Son-in-law has all the ideas about Rice-Arlington Park...I didn't get most of them, I think he was trying to make them fit. I am still leaning towards triangle Park

or somewhere around the Capital, alhough we did swing over to BC last night and I feel good about that also. Seems like I have been looking for treasure's for 100's

of years...(30-35) and this is the first year that I can't make a definite decision. Nancy...aka Grandma Honeybearrr

It's either at Merriam (because of ref: to Merriam WEBSTER (#6) or at Newell (because of ref: as WELL in the NEW (#4)). So far those are the only clear

references to PARKS. The rest are "vicinity" clues - you know, "you gotta be there"-type clues.

What happened to Marriam?

Looked up iconoclast in Encarta and St. Leo kept coming up as a founder of the iconoclastic movement. When I looked up Tome, his name was also mentioned

again. I know that there is a St. Leo school across from Hillcrest which is just strangely coincidental, but can't seem to fit the "glowing translucent peak" clue at

Hillcrest. Anyone with ideas?

how do St. Francis and HP fit together?

Translucent peaks. Just ideas, but sometimes watertowers and buildings have a steeple with glass on each side allowing you to see through it. Linwood's community

center and Highland's water tower are the only two I know of for sure.

Has anybody talked about the golf dome by Aldrich Arena ? You have golf and schools near by and some light is in the air by the shopping center on White Bear

Newell Park makes sense - but not all clues fit. Hillcrest- Glowing peak could mean the church across the street with the lights pointing up to the peak,,,looks to be

glowing? what do you think?

Sun, 01/31/1999 - 1:13 PM Permalink
MMC

May be it is in a white balloon? ( Not blown up)

could it be that they are making it extra hard this year because of the extra $$$? You could make these clues fit many differant places with very litte effort!!!

Hi all... white stretched tight could be baseball but could be drum or tamborine too...we will look at everything we dig up anyway...still think PEAK means church

steeple.... Rock I know you think FRACk is key to whole thing but please tell me where you get the word Frack from and what it means.... thanks!! :)

Yeah, I think they are referring to the fact that it is in a sock! Man that could be a tough one to see.

i'm to the point that i don't think they are going to give away the park at all since there is so much money, they are going to let us dig up every park in st.paul looking

for this thing

In years past - clear references to the park were made early on. In '97 - clue #4 (Mario Cuomo - COMO), in '95 - #1 - #6 (spelled out BATTLE - BC), in '94 -

#5 ("elevated terrain - Highland). Last year it came fairly late in #9 the form of "Chairman" (Chair) and "unlock the door" (Key). They make a clear reference every

year - the only parks with a clear ref: are NP and MP. Do your homework!

ya i know what he meant he meant for all of you to be fooled and go to linwood and try to find it there when he knows it is at highland!!
