1999 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

And I think if it was Sunray for the translucent peak,...they would have mentioned 2 of them, there is 2 right?

I don't know I give up....goodluck to you all I am sure I will see some of you digging tomorrow

Yes there are 2 peaks, but there are also two theories. One is that the treasure is hidden somewhere where either only one peak is visible, or the two peaks are lined

up to look like one. The other theory is that there is a kind of tower on the rec center. It has four sides, but each side is topped by a triangle made of some definitely

translucent material. This may be the real translucent peak, though the Sun Ray peaks are definitely the first thing to catch your eye.

My wife noticed the park building, but I might not have.

I'm not sure that translucent is the word for that. Translucent usually implies a degree of transparency, such that light can pass through, but not so much that you

could see a clear image on the other side. A concrete building on fire would be just more kind of glowing.

darn, you got me at least thinking though

Mon, 02/01/1999 - 4:34 AM Permalink

I was just wondering about Midway because I thought maybe 9-5-4 was trying to get us to think of Midway stadium. And not so much the stadium itself, but just the

word "midway". I'm still convinced its at Conway.

I think I should go to bed now though so I can be awake enough to unlock the true mysteries of Egypt, er I mean 9-5-4.

Transparent could also mean baseball diamond

One more point to ponder.... "adorn the front door" would make everyone think of an address. Maybe this refers to a discarded piece of clothing like a dress or

something.. long shot :)

Hey Cooler Crew!!! Nice to meet you guys yesterday!!! Looking at today's clue - is there a water tower with a red light on top at Conway - or could this be

refering to the 3M sign?

Thought everyone would have it figured out by now. It's gotta be Highland! "High" is in this clue twice! Two water towers at Highland! I don't remember a red

object, though.

DaBrewMan: understand your way of thinking, but please consider this. The clues are pointing more toward the medallion being in something white. The transulent is

referring to the peaks of the Sun Ray mall that are glass/see through.

Gotta love this hunt!!! (I hate it when it is too easy!) I will agree... Conway sounds very good (I know the park well as I am there almost every night - or so it seems

green - since my kids participate in many sports and activities at Conway)... But, there are still, in my mind atleast 3 other parks that fit the clues fairly well.... Highland,

BC, and Linwood.... Good luck to all, and I just might have to dig at conway tonight since we have to be there for BB practice and a Boosters club meeting

anyway!
