Submitted by Casey Trauer on

It's time for the Medallion Hunt! The first clue will appear on PioneerPlanet just after midnight Saturday, Jan. 22. Come back here to compare notes with other treasure seekers, but be certain you read the rules on the Planet's Winter Carnival page.

SORRY GREEN! That would be Woman. I guess I didn't want to sound like I was excited that you were a woman. Since the PC movement you have to be so

carefull with how you put things. . .

I'm glad to hear that this thing is over, and can understand why we had such a hard time. Maybe if the clues made more sense like in the past. As most of you know

on here, I'm 17 yrs old but my dad has been hunting for 38 yrs and this is the worst job of clue writing ever. When the paper has to different words amongst the

internet and the paper it doesn't help either. I am glad to see that so many people turned out this year to hunt in a City of Saint Paul RECREATION CENTER, just

because of the greater amount of money, I hope you realized how much fun this is and continue to hunt in the future.

Stark Reality is right, Golden Boy! All the stuff we've been putting off all week is going to smack us hard in the face now! Lord help us all! I'll have to put off

I've been carrying shovels and other digging implements in my car for a week now. I wonder when I'll have the heart and the strength to put them away.

I just want to say to the clue writers thanks for such an inconsistent mess of clues this year, are ya new? were ya drunk? acquiring some kind of aging

disease(senile)? what is it? had a little mad dash to get this done at the last second? Here are my complaints and hear me ROAR! First Off 3m wasnt necessarily and

object on high, in consistent with past clues. Second, very unclear with the orient meaning either east side/east side of the park. Three, and the worst of all is the

Peak not peaks in view from the hiding place - B.S. Maybe I'm just to upset about not finding it, but damn those hockey rinks weren't even close to the same size.

Very Lazy job on some of the clues, which isn't like them in the past, I've never actually complained about clues before. See Ya Next Year People! :)

Confused this year

I had a great time chatting with the cooler crew this year. I've been hunting treasure for most of my 47 years. Always at the right park, but never the right spot though

usually have walked over it a time or two in pursuit. Tuned in to the cooler last year just to observe but nevery posted. This year I did some posting on Sun. a.m. as

soon as I knew it was Conway (Mushie and Rock are you sorry you didn't believe me sooner?, I tried to tell you.) Hope to be a little more interactive next year --

you guys are a riot. It's so fun to look, but also really fun to "chat". Like they say, the joy is in the journey not just the final destination. Thanks for the memories.

I do think the clue writing was interesting anyways. The explanations fit. Of course, not as much as we read into them. It was unfortunate about the places/planes

thing...but it did mean the same thing. I always figured frozen planes or frozen places were the same thing, though I know others had other theories.

These were better than the one year it was down at Kellogg Park! That year I really thought the clues were terrible. I guess it's a matter of perspective. At least we

were in the right park. The year it was at Kellogg, we were sure it was at Harriet Island! LOL!!!!

We were going to take our kids medal-hunting tomorrow if it wasn't found, but since it is, we wan to take them to the Como slide instead. Anyone know how late

it's open, or how I can find out? Do we need to bring our own sleds? Sorry this is off the subject, but I'm a new internet user & don't know where to get all this info.

You know I was finally getting over the hole issue that it had been found then I see them on TV and they just stated to look last night for the first time and the only

reason they looked is because his friends apartment is across the street. They didn't even study or look at the clues they seen everyone there so they went out. That

perturbs me.

Dave - good meeting ya. I think next year's strategy should be either 1) Lose your job before you hunt, 2) don't look at or try to decipher the clues - just watch the

news about the time the 10th clue comes out, 3) don't buy a button, and 4) show up at the park with a shovel and a sign that says "WILL DIG FOR FOOD".

I thought I would jump on and Say that you all did a great job this year! Even though this was my first year digging I hope I will do it again next year. As far as the

money goes, I will donate $1,000 to the Park so they can take care of the damages made to the park. The rest of the money will be spent wildely for the next few

days. Thank You and Goodnight.

Have to say that the clues were, in a way, quite ingeneous. Most could be interpreted in many ways which kept people thinking and talking till the very end. Maybe a

little more attention to detail next year. All in all it was a blast. Great weather, fun folks! Gotta go get that shovel out of my trunk - I feel like O.J. Simpson, driving

around with that thing. Congrats Aaron.

Aaron, if that's really you please share a few specifics. Was the medallian in front of the house with the 459 address? How close to the street? How far from Ruth

and how far from Conway? Were you digging or not? Was it in "virgin" snow or do you think it had been dug up and/or move? Put us out of our misery PLEASE.

Phillip D. I don't know if that's true. I just did a search on the cooler to see if any aaron niedorf had posted before tonight and they actually go back a few days. The

first post by him had him searching BC...don't know if he did any actual digging....and IMHO i wish i hadn't read back because I didn't really like the tone of his

posts. I don't know...Why do people have to be so mean spirited. So some people were still digging in crosby up til a few hours ago...or some other person keeps

posting "where's HP?" after it's been said fifty times...i just don't see the need for name calling and slurs. It makes me feel tired. I came on the cooler to share ideas

...and more often then not left because it had downgraded to pages upon pages of people posting false "the medallion has been found" posts or posts that were just

negative, hate filled spewings. I hope the prize is less next year...maybe people will be nicer.

No final decisions yet about the park...but probably Battle Creek as that is the closest picnic facility. We are checking on specifics for the use of that park. We will

post here then. If you want to be added to the list, please e-mail Green. She's keeping the tally and we can then e-mail the place as well as posting it here.

WELL IT WAS FUN WHILE IT LASTED. JUST GOT BACK FROM HAVING A FEW DRINKS. IM KINDA PISSED BECAUSE WE WERE DIGGING

NEXT TO EACHOTHER AND I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE 954 CLUE AND WHAT SIDE OF THE PARK IT WAS ON. THAT AARON IS QUITE A

CHARATER. HES PRETTY FUNNY. WE TALKED AND DUG TOGETHER. THEN HE TAPPED ME ON THE SHOULDER AND SAID LOOK. HE

HAD IT IN HIS HAND AND I ASKED HIM IF I COULD SEE WHAT THE MEDALLION LOOKED LIKE. NO BIGGER THAN A HALF A DOLLAR.

IT WAS IN A LITTLE KNITTED POUCH. HE TOLD ME NOT TO TELL ANYONE AT THE PARK BUT I THINK THEY FIGURED IT OUT WHEN I

WAS SWEARING SO MUCH WHILE I WAS WALKING BY THEM. OH WELL THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR!!

Grandma, "kind person with a good heart..?" Stay away from Aaron's past posts or you'll see him for the hate-filled redneck he really is! I was rooting for the Cooler

A notice to all Medallion Hunters:

Many of you have expressed concern over the condition of Conway Park. In the next few days, we will be contacting park personnel to see if they will accept our

help in restoring the park. We will post information here, and will have sign-up sheets available at the Rehash Bash this Sunday.

Last year, some of us spent Earth Day at Cherokee Park picking up trash and having a picnic. Not necessarily in that order! But, someone had been there long

before we got there (probably earlier in the spring) and the park looked really nice. We're thinking that, rather than wait for Earth Day this year, there are probably

things that can be done sooner, rather than later, to help return Conway to its pre-hunt condition.

We'll be checking on this, and will keep you "posted". Please post any ideas you have that might contribute to this project.

Thank you!

An open letter to the Pioneer Press/pioneerplanet:

#1 You boost the prize fund to $10,000 and don't expect the deluge of posts on this board. I hope somebody's heads rolled on that one.

#2 What is up with the lame, shambled mess you called clues? Have you ever heard of accuracy?

#3 How about some type of policing on this board? When you have this much activity, you should require actual e-mail addresses. That alone would have cut 1/2

the crap that was posted here.

#4 This was my 3rd year participating online, and the MOST frustrating. This board should have been a more effective tool than it was.

The very BEST part of this debacle??

I don't have to go to Saint Paul for another 50 weeks !!

signing off...CLUELESS in Minneapolis

I would just like to say how much fun I had digging - I think that the best part of the whole thing is how generous people are to share their thoughts and theories -

especially out there in the trenches. I came home so excited last night - not because I found anything, but just because it was fun to be digging elbow to elbow

around the hockey rink... what a mass of people. Thanks to all the friendly people out there...

Jenny! Regalman!

I just loved being in the park last night. It was the locust stage of the hunt. All the lights, the chinking of the shovels and the buzz of voices noodling clues.

Other fond memories include the night at Newell as Jack Frost was painting his masterpiece and meeting Greg Sax last weekend.

This year's chat room wasn't as civilized as last years, but there seemed to be less people claiming that the medallion had been found. I think we should help with the
