im thinking highland mainly because of its tennis courts, Goling, and Picnic areas. also the "3 towers" really got me thinking. Why are you writing it off so quickly? What did or didnt you see there?
Phalen is good- I was ou t there last night. There are radio towers to the north in view, and did you know Phalen committed the first murder in Minnesota- he then fled to the west. I think that would make him a rapscallion, don't you?
I kinda like the Mounds idea...I do believe some on here are taking the clues too literally and really should be trying to decipher them more. Not that Im the expert by any means, but I think two towers needs to be disected, as well a cooking, etc. They like to try and make us work at the clues... How about you?

The tennis courts are essentially on school property...though it is public I don't think they would run the risk of mixing the hunters with the school aged kids. Wouldn't be PC.
Outdoor phy-ed classes go on through the winter plus kids park on Snelling = a bad mix.
A tower or two...there are three.
From the main park, especially near the picnic shelters you cannot see the towers at all.
And you are not necessarily looking in Boreas' direction!
I live in the area and scoped it out today. Not very likely.
Lillian, I *think* before he left town, Phalen served five or eight months for the murder at, I believe, Fort Snelling. Then he disappeared and his cabin was moved into and his claim jumped.
Gotta run folks, lunch break is over. See ya later in the eve. Good hunting to all! Maybe I'll even take a nap after work...whew, looking forward to it.
Interesting thought, Lillian. If the cluewriters were thinking this, then the "Don't be a rapscallion" could mean don't go west, which would cross off Highland and Como (or any other park in the western part of the city).
Yeah- a bit too literally!! I'm not sure what to think right now and I'm sure know that I'm not an expert seeing that I hunt every year and still have never found the thing. Do you think that it may not be hidden on the ground?- just a thought
Perhaps people are getting literal, but that's the fun of sharing! We get to see how other people's minds work in this whole game... there's gotta be something you can pull out of our citywide brainstorm, :)
MacGrove, I know its a stretch. But, you'll find very few postings this early in the game that aren't a stretch. After all, I've seen quite a few clues in the past that were quite a stretch, too. If they can use creativity in hiding and describing, we're probably safe using it in finding and interpreting. :)

Lillian, don't refresh your page. Just click on the blue number following somebody's name. That will bring up a new page with that posting as the first one.
Oh, I know, Ares! And I'm usually coming up with about 500,000 o'them! :)
Lillian, I'm from IL and I've learned sssssooooo much about the history o'this state and St. Paul due to The Med Hunt. Besides being fun, The Med Hunt's edd-u-cae-shun-ul!! :)
At Phalen there is a tower or two in view as you look in the direction of Boreas fromn an area that has a couple picnic shelters.. and fire rings.. and BBQ grills
Hi all, just came from a short walk thru Newell. There are people there looking. There are tennis courts, fire pit, grills, 2 shelters and a building. Its name is neWELL. But, it just doesn't feel right.
I'm back...TCBOO...why those three parks...I've written off highland after a stop through today...
For some reason Phalen keeps entering my mind. Somebody tell me if i am way off.
Alan..
What is oyur take on "look in kig boreas' direction" and then what is the tower or two???
Why Phalen
darn, i can see a ticket on my car from my window, i hate minneapolis!

I think it could very well be Highland
Hi all....Not much to say, just popping in and enjoying
Shovelmaster what are your ideas this year?

What do you like about Hidden Falls?

Don't go west is a BIG strtch don't you think. It's a meaning behind a meaning behind a meaning...too deep...

That's interesting-- I end up learning more about St. Paul during the Hunt than I ever did in my 6th grade Minnesota History classes!

Has anyone been over to Battle Creek to check it out?
sorry all my messages are double posting... I feel like such a heel...
Here's a thought... If the clue says, "DON'T be a rapscallion," wouldn't that say, "don't go to Phalen"?????
Lillian, don't refresh your page. Just click on the blue number following somebody's name. That will bring up a new page with that posting as the first one.
That's what's so great about the clues, green. There's about a million and one ways to interpret each one.
Does anyone know if LInwood has a picnic area?
I'll take a plunge on this rapscallion idea. Fort Snelling is right by Hidden Falls.
Thus far I believe the clues do not need over interprating. I think they are pretty straight forward and lgical in nature. It could be a new twist.

I'm new to the area, so this is my first hunt, but here's my thought: Wasn't there the King Boreas ski event at Phalen Park on the 23rd?
Linwood's picnic shelter is above the equipment shed next to the park bldg.
sorry all my messages are double posting... I feel like such a heel...
This is just my far fetched thought of the hour- does anyone else think it may not be hidden on the ground this year?
Wait- so should I not click on "post"?
leah, I haven't had that thought at all. What makes you think that?
I don't know Tiny - like I said just a thought of the hour

I need to study the clues more but this idea keeps attacking me
Well I think I may go to HIdden and check it out
Alan--I agree with you.

Phalen fits the mold really well early on...
leelabell--i wasted like 3 or 4 days there last year and everyone was sure it was there and it wasn't.
the only thing is...there haven't been any water or woods clues yet...what's up with that.
I think Phalen, but it may be a small park.
So does Mounds Park...
MacGrove--have you been out there yet?
Yes this morning...
Where were you today MacGrove- Mounds?
