GG What's Oprah have to do with my big ????????????? Unless your saying I'm whinning too. But if that's the case, you should of been logged in last night when the snot nosed, foul mouthed teens were on here. I'm proud to say I can't hold a candle to them. I just won't mention any names. And please, no offense to any teens on here now, just the ones on last night were just something else.

We're noodlin' here and we're coming up with Fort Snelling. Is that bad? Is it actually in St. Paul. I don't think so, but I'm not sure.

So, ICM, what part of the city do you live in?

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:03 AM Permalink

The only thing I get from #6 is horse back or bike riding. Possibly a hint at lead or leading off (what ever that might mean) base.

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:04 AM Permalink
Diggin' Queen

NO Just kidding

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:04 AM Permalink
Chris Allen

Fort Snelling is not in St. Paul. Offlimits

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:05 AM Permalink
Diggin' Queen

ICM, are you still there?

Fort Snelling: man of mettle (Snelling); off base .... is there a park near Fort Snelling. These are reaching thoughts.

We've also got some good Highland Park theories and, of course, Como.

With the emphasis on big areas to search in, we're trying to limit our ideas to Highland, Phalen, Battle Creek, and Como. So far, Como and Highland make the most sense.

Xcel Energy Center? You guys could afford to be more of a help... :^)

hey Goo Goo ok here is more of why i thought rice park area...

in clue 4 it says, "Though only one is the proper place, If this choice leaves you depressed, Playing might put a smile on your face"

why dose playing have to mean playing a sport? could it mean playing a instrument? if you by that look at clue 6...

"But you'll have to move off base" meaning base in music terms. and in tonites clue, could "big haul" be a play on words meaning big hall.

put that together with all the other reasonings we talked about and you see my theory. then again i might be way off, but this sure is fun guessin!!

My brother and I are arguing about the "Peace Bird" clue, naturally the Dove. Wrapped in the word, he says a newspaper I say a Dove Soap box. Anyone want to take a stab?

Ok, I'll take that as a no. Well I'll share my final thoughts for the morning, then I'm off to bed.

I hate to say it, but before the sever went down; people were making a good case for Newell. I hope it's not there (Como's closer to home) but it may be, I'll have to mull over all the clues when I get up tomorrow. I've been taking care of 1 of my sons who's sick, and now the hubby's sick. Anyways, the point of all this is anything looks good when you're sleep deprived. So I'll take another look later. But when I still was awake, I liked Como the best. Everything seems to fit. Except the memory lane thing. It comes out and says it should be obviously to figure out what memory lane is. Anyone have any thoughts how that could pertain to Como?????? Oh ya, I also ramble when I'm sleep deprived. Can ya tell?

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:08 AM Permalink

No Fort Snelling. Good. Stuck on Como. Bad.

I think the dove indicates it is probably in a Dove Ice cream box. Then again soap box makes just as much sense.

Generaly when people refer to the "word" it is religious. Some people call the bible the good "word" A dove is a bird that is religous sometimes linked to jesus.

"Memory Lane" could simply mean to take you back. In the case of tonight's clue, this means to take you back to when street cars were a main form of transportation. The only thing to figure out then is where the main street car lines went. And then to mix those destinations with previous clues like circular, east/west, and man of steel.

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:11 AM Permalink
icm

you had mentioned memory lane to be something about a old railroad track? maybe for the old trolley? there is that trolley car in the mini golf course.. what about lexington.. didn't that split up before? what about the paddleboats? those are old and they don't have them anymore. when i think of memory lane i think of the ye old mill for some reason.. what about a play on the words memory.. are there some anonyms for memory?

I was thinking playing the market - Market street. "lots", of space , riding around i thought could be that circular,(around can be fun) parking ramp-all in same area?

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:12 AM Permalink
Svengalli

Are you saying it's within church view? Or on Churchill Street? I mean with the good book and Jesus thing.

We're looking at Rice Park, "man of steel" F. Scott Fitzgerald statue on the NE corner, "ring" around the fountain, "big haul" the Ordway. Just a few Ideas

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:15 AM Permalink
Chris Allen

Clue #2 says " golf courses and statues you must not annoy" I beleive that that is saying that there are statues at the park it is at. They might of slipped up in that clue. I think a lot of people may over look it though. any thoughts??

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:16 AM Permalink

Circular. Hemm... I think that has something to do with linked circles like the olympics flag. Anything like that down by the First Banks tower?

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 2:16 AM Permalink
icm

thats how i read it too chris.. why else would they mention statues if there weren't any statues to refer too?

If you guys missed my earlier posts, The old cable cars ran right through cp. The tunnels are still there. I also gave my therory of what the man of mettle meant. I asked earlier, but no one answered me about a simile for memory lane, maybe ____??_____ street or ave. Any thoughts?
