What bothers me is "around our deal". Deal has another definition that means fir/pine wood. The word "around" is used or referred to often enough to bug me also. Like circular. My hunch is that the clue tonight will be a throwaway for what it's hidden inside of - like the dove bar/soap theory.

At Martin Luther King Rec, his name is on one of the walls. The walls are big solid concrete, white and block the private property from the ballfields on the west end of the park. The east end of the park is depressed more than the west end(clue 4). My other hunch about tonights clue - will indicate something you see way outside of the park from the medallion site (like Central Medical Building across I-94). That or more about what it's wrapped in.

green - Charles Atlas was a strong man, but was he ever specifically referred to as "man of steele"?

And are you referring to Charles Ave? If so, which part?

maybe it's on an Amish farm somewhere, thewy still use horse and buggy- sorry I just had to say that.

Wasn't Charles Atlas a real guy, though? I like the Rondo idea, but I have some other thoughts.

Memory Lane has nothin' to do with a street...

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 8:51 AM Permalink
green

Vipe, Atlas was the strongest man in the world. He held the world on his shoulders. But he was mythical - from mythology - and never xsisted. 1) You're reading too much into The Clue; 2) You're not paying attention to "Look for his name around our deal." "Deal" is "lead" bockwards. Now, if you look at the LEAD letters in that clue... You get "ATLAS."

But Charles Atlas was real. Charles Avenue won't work. Been there, done it. But if you want to noodle that, go ahead.

So, drop the Atlas and run with the "Charles"!

Then there is that area at como where everything is dedicated in memory of someone or something and an old road the used to go through but doesn't anymore.....

THE MAN OF STEEL HAS GOT TO BE SUPERMAN! COULD THE ONE WITH METTLE BE LOIS LANE?( TERRI HATCHER) HATCH RUNS INTO LEXINGTON FAIRLY CLOSE TO COMO

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 9:01 AM Permalink
No user inform…

Referring the "Mettle", are there any parks with streets around them with the names "Christopher", "Reeves", "Clark", or "Kent"? Just a thought.

Sat, 01/27/2001 - 9:03 AM Permalink
Gregor

Okay, I'm letting my ideas out of the bag. I'm trusting you to deal with this information wisely, and buy me a beer when it is all over.

We're still finding the area/park!

Memory Lane = History Center

Statue = near at statue

Man of steel = the statue itself

East and West = division of st. paul's east/west streets

traveling the old way = streetcars (as in the street car tunnel off near cathedral

Guess where I'll be today.

Heading down to my digging area about 10:30. See you guys by the Josias King placque (one of the men of mettle mentioned on this statue).

Has anyone tried ordering a hunt t-shirt from the url up above? I keep getting some type of java script error when I fill in the blanks. I'd really like one, though.

I am headed over to Harriet. I am still going with my very first instinct, the rebirth of the park, stones for people to buy and put what they want on them. Example: Two people engaged, bought a stone, put their name on it.

I've been to Como twice and still don't get that "feeling" I get when I'm in the right place. The clues can fit, but I'm still troubled by the lack of park like clues. No trees. No picnic tables or shelters. No water. No obvious bike path clues....etc. etc.
