2002 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt

Submitted by Casey Trauer on

Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.

I just found out today they may want me to keep working though next week sometime. I'm not sure if I should be happy or mad.

yeah, Allison. I hope it's a linwood, close to my house!

Now that I think about it I guess it's found every year by accident! LOL

If someone trips over it by accident tonight...well maybe they deserve to find it.

I've learned it doesn't pay to go wasting energy moving snow unless you're fairly certain you're in the right park.

Chances are I'll get the clue tonight, get some crazy theory about where it is and then go dig to no avail. Did it the last two years after clue 4, although at Newell I was actually right (though I was never in the right part of the park).

If there are, Lets say 100 people, linwood would be dug up in 20 seconds

10 ways to get in shape for the Medallion Hunt!

1. Whenever a snow emergency is declared, follow the snowplows around and completely dig out all the cars they plow in.

2. As a big storm is about to hit, stand on your front steps with your back to the yard. Toss your car keys over your shoulder. Go back inside and then go find them the next day.

3. Read up on Occam's Razor (All else being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the correct one).

4. Do every word jumble, crossword puzzle, and search-a-word you can get your hands on.

5. Make a list of all the things you can do with $10,000.

6. Turn off the heat in your home for 16 hours a day.

7. Only sleep three hours a night.

8. Move all the snow from your back yard to your front yard.

9. Spend all night on the Internet with total strangers discussing who killed JFK.

10. Commit the Cooler Crew and Treasure Hunter's Guide Websites to memory.

TSlanika- Doubt it, that is a lot of info for the 3rd clue

I had a thought that tide and time could refer to a flood marker, the type where it shows how high the water got in a certain year.

I've found "knit your sinews to the strength" and "lift up thy brow", "make his eyes grow in my brow," "hath my duty strongly knit," "scandal stamp'd upon my brow," and lots more Shakespeare wrote, but I don't think he wrote of any type of knitted brow...

The Pioneer Press and Cub Foods will host three special events for participants in the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt who gather at the newspaper’s downtown St. Paul headquarters to await publication of clues:

“Vulcan Night” – Saturday, Jan. 26: The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt heats up with a visit from the Winter Carnival Vulcans. The hunt’s presenting sponsor – Cub Foods – and Hormel, also a Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt sponsor, will participate. KOOL 108 and the station’s KOOL KAT mascot will help host the event and prize drawings.

“Tropical Night” – Sunday, Jan. 27: Colorful leis and Hawaiian shirts will brighten the night in time for an appearance by the Winter Carnival Royal Family. The WLOL party van will pull up to help host the event and prize giveaways.

“Movie Night” – Tuesday, Jan. 29: The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt goes Hollywood with Marcus Theatres and K102. Treasure hunters can watch movie trailers, munch popcorn and win theater tickets, posters and other prizes. K102 will sponsor an appearance by the Rodeo Renegades danceline and a drawing for rodeo tickets.

Time: All events will be held from 11 p.m. until midnight. Events will take place, as scheduled, unless the medallion has been found. Call the Treasure Hunt Hot Line for the current status of the hunt at (651) 228-5547.
