Yes, the medallion has been found, but there's still lots to talk about. Feel the need for more than virtual discussion? Then join the Re-Hash Bash, Sunday, Jan. 27, at noon at Merriam Park in St. Paul.
Frosti
Oh, he has one of those fancy schmancy bikes that's too good to be locked up outside on the bike racks?
No, I mean St Paul. And in St Paul, what bike racks?
hey dave. it could be the middle of the winter, and i could be standing outside freezing my arse off at 40 below, and i'd still ask for a coke instead of coffee.
Oh, he has one of those fancy schmancy bikes that's too good to be locked up outside on the bike racks?
I guess (i don't really know much about bikes - frosti, where'd you go?)
Do you mean Mpls? There's quite a few places on Nicollet; there's even storage lockers for about $30/mo.
we live in st. paul. frosti takes the bus to mpls - wants to do something with biking to downtown st. paul and catching the express, and leaving the bike in st. paul or hauling it with on the bus or something.
frosti, you can jump in anytime here and explain your biking needs...i know you're out there...yooo-hooooo

I'm so confused! (No one need comment on that.)
Frosti, what exactly are your biking needs? Do you live east of downtown SP or west?
Dal, right now I catch the local bus on the east side of St Paul (route 69!) and ride to downtown St Paul. Then, I transfer to the 94, which takes me to downtown minneapolis. I'd like to bike from my house to downtown St Paul, then catch the 94.
If they would just put those damn bike racks on the front of all the buses, instead of the 8 or 9 that have them now, I'd be set.
Frosty, would you consider biking the whole way to downtown Mpls? That would be fun. From approx Summit and Snelling, it only takes me (wimpy girl) 30 minutes. 7 miles to downtown Minny.

I'm thinking it would be about 15 miles for me, meaning 30 round trip. Might be a little much for me 5 days a week. I'd be in great shape however!
I might be a sweaty mess by the time I get to work too...
What route do you take from Summit and Snelling? E-mail me if you don't wanna get that specific in this public forum. I'd hate to have news lurking for you. :-)
could you take a local route partway and carry the bike with you?
That's a good idea. Why don't bike companies make a bicycle that you could fold up and carry? That would come in handy for hiking/mountain biking activities.
Hmm, too bad. I know the U has free bus service that connects the St Paul campus with the Minneapolis campus. I think many of the busses are equipped with bike racks on the front, but I can't remember. I figured you could ride from the St Paul campus all the way over to the west bank campus for free, and bike the rest of the way. Guess not. Oh well!
My company gives us unlimited rides on the bus for $30/per month. It seems kinda foolish to spend the same on a bike locker. If I saved that money, I'd have enough to buy a bike that needs a locker in a year or two.

How many of those calories in the coke end up on your computer monitor though?
hey dave. it could be the middle of the winter, and i could be standing outside freezing my arse off at 40 below, and i'd still ask for a coke instead of coffee.
I agree. St. Paul is a good town to bike in, as long as you don't stop...
How many of those calories in the coke end up on your computer monitor though?
hmm. 0 calories/can * 5 cans/day = 0 calories/day
none.
I agree. St. Paul is a good town to bike in, as long as you don't stop...
the same can be said for driving in minneapolis too.

Or entities existing only inside of computers.
haven't we laid that myth to rest yet?

Oh, sorry. I thought you worked in Mpls. I was talking about racks there. :(
i'd still ask for a coke instead of coffee.
Yes, just what I want too: a steaming, hot mug of diet coke with marshmellows to wrap my hands around.

haha! I actually just saw a rack in the ecolab plaza on saturday. It's inside the courtyard by the skyway. That one looks promising...
Frosti--in the summer, they have plastic lockers on 5th and Minnesota, by the bus stop.

from time to time, i will take hot cocoa. but coffee. never.
coffee's that bad?

could you take a local route partway and carry the bike with you? seems like some of those strollers i see on the bus are bigger than your bike...

Cool. I'm having trouble accessing that mail at this moment, but that's my main one, so I'll get it eventually.
Frosti, how close do you live to the U of MN St Paul Campus?
Frosty, you'll have mail whenever your computer decides to let you.

Not close enough, I'm over on the east side, about 1 mile from Phalen

Someone invent that!

There is such a thing, type "folding bicycle" into a search engine. Put your patent application away dal...

Hey, there's also electric bicycles! They go up to 25 mph and allow you to pedal, too.

Bye, RC.
