I get a good feeling for Phalen BC and Highland but I thought they were all taken --- I think Cherokee and Linwood wont be used for a while due to being on bluffs -- if you notice the last 2 hunts were on 'safe' ground so to speak and that was the same writer.

oh thanks for the update- they havnt sold that many! I was thinking of getting another one. I had heard last that they were only up to a thousand.

and thanks for finding out everyones park guesses -is this the guess that cost $5? so who do we pay? the rabbit? on the 24th-ish?

Yeah, you do pay AW the $5. Some of us already paid but I don't see the list at the top any more. Good idea on keeping it away from the bluffs given what happened at Mounds over the 4th. Damn! I should have changed it then. Oh well, I'm stuck with it now.

I noticed on winter-carnival.com they took off the field that you type in your name/extra names to have put on the Certificate. Anyone know why? I don't even see mention in the description that it comes with a name on it? Or do they do that now after you buy a certificate? I was thinking of getting one now, but would like to know before I get one.

There is no waiting list. If you want a park, you pick that park, even if someone else already picked it. You just have to then hope that they change their mind and then you become the first person to pick it without changing your mind.

And yes, I guess people would pay me and then I'd pay the winner. Your guess doesn't really count if you don't pay so I'd say I have to get the money by Clue 4 as that seems to usually be the earliest point at which the park becomes revealed.

As for people paying me already, I don't recall that. Who? When?

More officaly I trust Me2 or Liquor Lady.

It would be fun to search in west Minnehaha cause it's closer to home, but Phalen would be genius as far as playing with meaningfullness and expectation.

I don't know if I'm crazy or smart, but realizing i'm off topic (this is the WHERE, not the WHO thread) I had the random thought that WHO is a clue and Horton hears you! So maybe, just maybe Guesses = The coded decision making process and I'm witnessing the best kept secret in Saint Paul. Since everyones identity is so well unknown, It takes ALOT of historic reading to to figure out who we all are. And if I shut up about it RIGHT NOW, this could be a profound referance post for folks figuring out the clues later once they start.
Either that or it's disinformation ;) But I'd like to think I'm an honest guy.

I was thinking THX, who knows if it's never 'not' been turned in before? If we find it and not turn it in, don't you think they might just say that some jackass found it anyway just to see if the person holding on to it comes out of the woodwork to set them straight. Or at least brag to others that they actually did find it and that the published finders were bogus. I doubt it, but I'm gonna look up how many times it went to the last clue and read up on those. Just a weird thought since there's no noodling to do yet.

I've been saying that for years, and given up on it. But my guess wouldbe Long Lake. It's huge.

I think Phalen would be too easy because of the Ice Palace, and I don't think they want anyone even near downtown, and now that I've moved, Newell is close to my house, so I'm gonna say Newell

Hey, no pay, no play buddy. ;-)

    Sat, 01/10/2004 - 5:40 PM Permalink

It doesn't matter if someone beats me to it. More than one person can guess the same park. The winner is who guessed it first without changing it later. So my guess would only win if Nonagoose changed her vote (or didn't pay). But in the meantime, I would have Marydale ahead of anyone else who might think it's there.

The point of the pool wasn't to have everyone randomly pick a park and then see which one is right. It's supposed to be to see who figures out the clues first.

    Sun, 01/11/2004 - 12:52 AM Permalink
    Clue Master

It's supposed to be to see who figures out the clues first.

Yeah, but more than likely the park was already picked and that person prolly won't change it anyway if it could fit the clues even in the slightest. Then why would someone want to change if someone already picked the park. Being that's it's highly unlikely that they will change since most of the other parks are already picked anyway.
Random is fine too. Maybe say something like "I'm still keeping IM but I think it's in Marydale". Because why would I want to loose a first pick to try and get a second or third pick that won't change?
Don't get me wrong, it's still fun nonetheless.

Maybe to show who was the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc to pick the correct park? But that was blown to hell last year as it was kind of pointed out to all of us on the same clue.
It pretty much comes down to who picked the right park before the hunt even started anyway. Which is fine. That works too.

    Sun, 01/11/2004 - 1:12 AM Permalink
    Med2k

Exactly, CM. If the point of the pool was to figure out the clues and make an educated guess, then why make this thread in Jan. 2003 and have people start guessing right away?

And I am still following all the guesses that people have made of parks that have already been guessed. (Map Guy in next in line for Hidden Falls, etc.)
