Back in the time, brave hearts of the Ojbwe searched the hills and and glens for the Dakotka (or do I have the two switched?), sneaking up a ravine to their encampment of pitched tents...

Ever since DDave - I think it was him - mentioned about "staying within ken" refers to staying within our knowledge of digging rules, the Clue seems to fit Highland better.

That was a fantastic noodle.

That's just it 3m....have you seen many if any ice rinks (outside) that *are* in good shape? Not too many probably. Most of the neighborhood recs have tried to keep decent ice but with the above average temps it's near impossible.

I am almost thinking this is another clue to try to keep simplicity. Anyone else notice that instead of "brave AT heart" the clue says "brave OF heart"? It maybe nothing, but that just isn't the way I've ever heard that phrase.....

The other thing I'm feeling is that the 2nd part of the clue is saying nothing more than to settle in on your one park ("go on -- stay there 24/7 if you want - pitch a tent) but stay within the areas that are pertinent....which I think will be revealed in future clues.

What a noodle Mom!!! That is sssssooooo good! That's fantastic!

I've always heard "of heart", too... Could be just a boo-boo when working hard to hurry and write the Clues?

Time for me to head out....the bright side is I'll actually be home tonight after work. 'Course the drawback is I'll be toting 3 young'uns if I go scout....

Happy hunting - see you all later!

Later, Mom!

One thing I thought of, #2 says "cover", not "under."

If under had been used, you could get that The Med lies north - under being south - of Pearsons. But cover was used, so I'm convinced a Nut Goodie wrapper is actually touching The Med.

That gives me hope that The Med's not at Highland.

Something else, I've always heard "hill and dale," not "hill and glen." I think that's important.

I think that gives strength to FRPQS's, or whomever he is (I think it mite have been Mr. Bud), noodle on BC.

And wouldn't you know The Med would be at BC this year, when I've FINALLY moved on to another park?

There is construction at Highland kind of by the disc golf area on Antonio. It's a smallish, fenced off area. They're building a new pump house, and an indoor toilet facility. The construction area has a big plastic tent over it, so they can work in incliment weather.

That is the only construction going on at Highland.

I'm off to work. That will be the case for the rest of the hunt.

One of these years I'll be free to take vacation for this fun and frivolity.

Mikey - you're doing a nice job with the recap. Thanks so much for taking that project on and doing such a great job.

This clue could really be Swede Hollow. Going digging in there, especially by yourself, is "for the brave of heart." As you walk along the path you are "searching hill and glen." As you walk along you may see tents pitched from the homeless people there. "But stay within your ken", because the clue writer wouldn't hide it near them.

Ok BC just went to the top of my list. I noticed the "search hill and glen" and knew that hillsdale and glenridge are in 55119 (I used to have to process this zone at work so I know most of the streets in that zip) Yep they both run right into BC at Winthrop.

Brave of Heart makes me think of the movie Braveheart where it was Scottsmans doing battle.

I'm thinking "Stay within your ken" means stay in the area of park where only the park is within your view.

I'd like to wish a Happy Burfday to Robert Burns.

Hippo Birdies Two Ewes, Bobbie!

Today's his burfday, that Scottish poet that wrote "Scots Wha Hae," about William Braveheart Wallace.

Nah.

Everyone's off on Highland because of the Pearson's thighy. That's what got them there. And I, for one, don't think that Clue was pointing to a park. It was talking about what The Med's in. But, the more folks in Highland, the better for me. You guys go tear up Highland... Yes!

I think folks are then making everything else after #2 fit Highland. Like not keeping an open mind. (Listen to ME!!! Miz Closed Mind O'The World!!!)

I can't get a feel on Highland. Just too much pushing w/every single word o'the Clues.Every word's not gonna put you in a park.

I'm more inclined to BC, pppoooossssiiiibbbblllyyy Indian Mounds. I think I see Chair-O-Kee fading away.

:frown:

Folks are just chomping at the bit. And I'm all for that. Gives us something to do. But I really don't think Highland.

But don't listen to ME. I've gotten like one Clue rite in nine years!

As soon as I read this clue I immediately thought of highland just because of the wording of it. It sounds scottish or something and highlanders are scottish...brave of heart and the hills and glens and I don't know I have a feelingthey have to give us the park right away because if its a big one its going to take some time to find the darn thing. Thats my take on it. IF I get any time this evening thats where I'll be

MedallionStallion

I agree with Green!!!

I feel quite sure the Son of a Pear clue reffers exclusively to what my medallion is hidden in.

#3 Puts us at a park with a play ground

#4 Puts us at a park with hills, and as for "pitch a tent" I think it means as stated by someone else, search 24/7, but don't break the rules of the park.

It is to early yet to be narrowing down on a park, these clues I think only give us general ideas about the park, things to look for in them...

OK, now off to work :frown:

STAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So nice to see you around these parts!
Wed, 01/25/2006 - 6:32 AM Permalink
Oriongirl79

Here's my take so far,

Search "high and low" (hill and glen)

Pitch a tent if you want, but stay in that line of sight. (Pitch could also be horseshoes.)

so heres my idea, there's a child's slide at highland. it's actually a elephant and fairly new looking. well at the top there's a little pair of binoculars. (look for it using a child's proclivities). You can go and look through them, and see that area of the park. If it's there, I think it will be in that part. And right below that (west) area of the park, you can see Pearson's on 7th. So pitch a tent there.. and search the area you can see with those binoculars. There's crap ton of snow and ice. As well as mounds of plowed snow.

If it's Highland-- I like that fit. But I might be just trying to make it fit. What do you think?

'Marnin', Orion! Welcome back!

I just can't take Highland. We got to Highland via whattheMedisin Clue. I truly do not think it's Highland.

But... I'm usually the LAST person in the right park.

I've gone way off course this year and am taking the Clues literally. I can't believe that I'm not reading more into them, like I have in years past/I usually do.

I - just me - do not think Highland. There have been FABULOUS noodles for Highland, but I just can't see it.

Just me. I'll prolly end up in Highland 15 minutes after It's been found!

Green, until we get another clue, I am convinced it is at Highland - and it has nothing to do with the Pearson's clue. Tonight might change my mind, but all the Scottish references in addition to the tent (circus) reference are too much to overlook.

Does anyone give merit that Hillsdale & Glenridge run right into Battle Creek. Also if you were Brave of Heart would you go to Battle. There also is the Rec center at BC plenty for kids to do there.???????
