Clue #1 You've joined the hunt for the regal runt
To prove searching does pay
Don't dig a hole or knock down a pole
And the golf course is out of play

Last year Jake took home the cake
With a clue a bit off level
This year we'll rinse off all our prints
Lest this hunt go to the devil

Clue #2 The point of all this is so that you won't miss
Your big chance to grab all the cash
Now gather your guys and a gal who is wise
You'll have to do something quite rash

Clue #3 We've scanned the county to hide our bounty
And keep you on your toes
It may sound risible, but our puck's invisible
Although it might just stick to your nose.

Clue #4 How fun is the snow how far will we go
You really ought to go see
Get up for the mission and not just the wishin'
Get into the game-it's all free

Clue #5 There once was a clue that drove you-know-who
To threaten a heinous act
We'd use it again but we're afraid of his pen
My friend, that's an unfortunate fact

Clue #6 All ye who look should honor the book
As one who stood for hope
Much was built in the name of the kilt
Look sharp now and never mope

Clue #7 If you should go look high then low
One could see it from a bower
If it's your bent you might seek a tent
To protect in case of shower

Take note of the wood and do what you should
To extract the prize for yourself
Build a bridge to your dreams as high as they seem
Leave nothing behind on the shelf

Clue #8 Look at the buck to acquire good luck
In finding the grail this year
Link a jar,a line, a star lawyer divine
While crying in your beer

He won, then lost and the nation was tossed
Into strife that was far from civil
The point I'm making is yours for the taking
Believe me - not the message board drivel

Clue #9 This name brings tears, elation and cheers
And occasionally even outrages
It sits on walls and rides the halls
And fills a dozen pages

The hills are alive and you'll have arrived
Refrain from the very injurious
Be bold and be brave but your skin you must save
What's off-limits should frankly be obvious

Clue #10 Look for the sight you hope is just right
You're doubtful and you're torn
Make the rounds for what rhymes with grounds
And part of a rose with a horn

Through flames and flow this park where you'll go
Is the site of sacred relics
Stay away from these and the cliffs if you please
Or you'll be in a heckuva fix

Clue #11 Air and river sounds lead all to Mounds
Far from the graves take your entourage
Twixt Burns and Thorn, an icy pathway is born
Across Mounds from a gray house and tan garage

Hell no fury hath as those on the wrong path
Mounds and Warner form a woodsy perimeter
The path not official contains footprints beneficial
Some 300 trudges in - quest for a quitter

This trail you must follow goes down a narrow hollow
Under a fallen tree to an old rusted drum
From here you must search for a hillside path perch
Wherein lies the center of fun

I just see the CC logo one. I might need to clear my cache again. It seems like I've had to do that a lot lately. Isn't it supposed to update itself?

its supposed to. What it actually does may be different.

Good old microsoft.

Thanks 3M - I do have that set to automatically update the pages. I'll have to dig a bit deeper I guess.

Did they even narrow it down to a park in this clue?

Wasn't it once in a magnetic container under a mailbox?

I just spoke with Stanley. He knows.

Glad he finally answered.

CM, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've seen the animation. I recall someone in the past remarking about how cool it was that the flashlight beam moved back and forth and thought they were kidding. IN fact, when you posted asking if you were missing something I thought you were kidding too.

But I do see it now. Could it be that I used to use IE and now use Firefox?

mrmnmikey

they used to have the same picture that didn;t move.

mrmnmikey

I'd say no. It could be a rec center. It was under a mailbox once, but they won't do that again. The rules say its on public property now. A mailbox is not public property, it belongs to the post office.

Yes, but ares said its been animated for a couple of years. I've only switched to Firefox since the last hunt.

This clue is a scratcher. My guess is its a Regional Park without a golf course, but its the first clue and the clue writer is upset

jake find it yet? hahaha.

think all the info they are going to give us is in t this first clue and everything else is just. fluff.

ok also a joke.

just sad Im not there.

Dude I was at work all day today and the clue came out today???

Why would they say Jake took home the Cake? Devil?

My guess is its in a DevilCake Mix box- the golf course throw out can't be assumed until tommarow. My guess is its telling us its not a park with a golf course, where the rules already says to stay off a golf corse.

Or you can scratch that idea and just assume that they hid it in Phalen again and hid it in an actuall Devils Food Cake decorated with Runts

I'm off to bed, I have to be at work at 7 AM :frown:

Chair-O-Key.

I don't think the writer will tell us a park name. Chair-o-kee park is a huge park. Why would he send us to a park by name this quick?

green

You don't slog, do'ya, Tom? :eyeroll:

I've already decided ittiz Chair-O-Key. And that's that. But, of course, because I was rite at the very outset Mmo Press will go and get the Med and move it to CoNo, or BC or Phalen or Newell or somewhere like that.

It happens every year. :pbpt:

my thoughts: regal runt- regal most likely refers to king Bores' treasure, most likely "royal" references are related to the king and don't mean anything else. runs runts candy good one BM, or a smaller puck.

"the golf course" dose make me think there is a specific golf course to not go on.

cake could be devils food or other cake mix box,cup cake?

bit off level acknowldgement to BM, but cleverly does not answer if Level was the main clue or not.

rinse off prints - they will not leave footprints to the location could be on a main path or they hid it several weeks ago(I think those prints would still be present) or they swept covered their prints up,(which would look very suspicious to anybody who could see them)

devil devils pit fire circle at newell park,

green missed you last night I like the rhyme pattern, it is the same for the since 2003, so possibly same clue writer.

prints/prince could be tennis ball lid, or prince st

this is way to long of a post for clue #1.

No mention of park or St. Paul

Hay, Hot Daddy! Just didn't feel up to it. Headache, cold/hot, tired. Coughed all nite and had eye boogers. I think I've got a sinus infection. Bed's still sounding like the best place to go/be.

HOWEVER... You can't keep a good Hunter down and Buttercup shall somehow find the wherewithall to suck it up. But like in a day or two...

Interesting definitions for "runt"...I like the tree stump reference.

4. British Dialect.

a. an old or decayed tree stump.

b. an old cow or ox.

c. an ugly old woman; hag.

Awesome clue. Lot's to noodle on, but in the end I think this is the usual "stay out of the golf course" clue. I'm thinking this is a great year for Highland. It's due. Como is my fall back (as always). Happy hunt to everyone.

can u elaborate on an old cow or runt?
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 8:51 AM Permalink
Neecie

I found the definition under www.dictionary.reference.com when I looked for the definition of "runt". It could be more of a slang term or just obscure. Here's more from that site...

runt

1501, "old or decayed tree stump," of unknown origin. Meaning extended to "small ox or cow" (1549) and by 1614 to other animals and people. Specific Amer.Eng. sense of "smallest of a litter" (esp. of pigs) is attested from 1841. Some see a connection to M.Du. runt "ox," but OED thinks this unlikely, and pronounces the word "of obscure origin."

I think Regal runt = the medallion is regal, and it's a new young medallion thus making it a runt. possible in a runt candy box.

to prove that searching does pay = means you get $$

The rest of the clue says don't destroy and stay of any types of golf courses! Traditional golf or Disc Golf is in the park.

Next Line = Jake took home the $$

Next Line = Brassmonkey solved the Hidden Super Clue and possible level this year means something again

Next Line= We washed our hands, covered our tracks and possible a hidden message here

Last line = either rhymes with level or the snackwells Devil food little cakes

This is my take on this clue.

Ok, I'm new to this, and the noodle part, but just to play off the smallest of a litter, and specifically "runt", perhaps a pig, pig's eye park? Just a guess..

Lest sounds like a word I would use. As for the rhyming pattern, it's the same one they've had for years now.
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 10:00 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I kind of like brassmonkey's idea of it being in a box of Runts. That sounds quite plausible. Though I sort of hope it's not true as that would make it easy to spot on the first dig.
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 10:02 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Yes, such a hunt would go to the devil! Vot chort as the Russians would say.
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 10:04 AM Permalink
Brassmonkey

agreed AW I think it is the same rhyme pattern and most likely the same writer. As for Lest, it is interesting that he uses that word which translates to "for fear that". Then he uses an idiom "go to the devil" which means "to be unsuccessful". Could be just saying that they covered their tracks for fear of this hunt being unsuccessful. could be double clue?
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 10:11 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Another way to hide footprints is in plain sight. Go somewhere that has a ton of traffic with footprints all over the place. Dig the snow out a bit, lay down the medallion, kick some snow back over it and stomp it down. Maybe even spritz some water over it to make the area nice and icy, and then who will want to dig there?
Sun, 01/20/2008 - 10:11 AM Permalink
Brassmonkey

certainly sounds feasible. It would also be unexpected.
