FYI: The Crashed Ice Property belongs to the Catholic Church, NOT the City. Of course the city had say in the permitting process, but the land use (or profit thereof) is going to the Catholic Diocese. The Church as a whole pretty well strapped for cash, hence the allowance for such a 'secular' event on Church property.
You can debate all you want whether or not this is 'Public' land, but the idea of stashing the puck and having people dig for it with rakes and shovels and other implements of destruction around that property is ludicrous. I'm saying this not so much because of the Cooler discussion, but from the eggheads on the PP board and their noodling.
Council: To implement his ideas, Sam Morgan helped establish both the Minnesota Parks Foundation and the Parks and Trails Council of Minnesota.
A ceremony honoring the late naturalist and trail enthusiast, Samuel H. Morgan was held on Friday, September 20, 2002, near the entryway to Crosby Regional Park near the intersection of Shepard Road and Crosby Road. As part of the ceremony, a 5.1 mile stretch of pedestrian and bicycle pathway extending along Shepard Road from Highway 5 to Chestnut Street will be named the Samuel H. Morgan Regional Trail.
i've always said the diocese has a price for everything. although that was always in the context of allowing two non catholics to marry in the cathedral.
I don't think anyone here has even thought of digging there... most think it either has to do what it's attached to/hidden in, or you can see the event from the hiding location (high bluff park), or that you can do hockey/skating/skiing in the park.
I have always entertained the idea that they would hide it along a long trail like Sam Morgan or Gateway (high tech)-- it would stump the masses as to what part of the trail to look. Logistically --- that's a toughy.
My take is that only one gets the glory of actually having found the medallion. They may share the prize with others who may get mentioned, but only one person gets the glory. And keeping with the Redbull Crashed Ice theme, the spectators have fun watching but only one wins.

Ok I will come out of my shell since Todd is now out  So he made the puck in his payne ave shop...which was in the article (which was kind of random) Payne runs along swede. The Rice comment could be the reference to the crashed ice, that is my first pick. However I also got "swede hollow" out of Yellow Mashed Rice (can say hallow too even though that is spelled wrong, you get the jist)
I had a park outside of SP I was focused on, but early today I had to switch after I re-read todds article.
If you find it before I get home I want a photo :pbpt:
maybe its just saying that if you cant figure the clues and find the med, then go to crashed ice intead of hunting? Worth your time because its free....
What if it was in a crashed ice item that was yellow? The rhyming part is just mashed rice = crashed ice. The yellow is just the color. If you find the yellow item then it is well worth ($10,000?) your time. And yellow is pretty mellow for a color that it could hide in snow if it is subdued?
Did you notice the article mentions his forming a Council?
runs through the downtown side of Saint Paul
along the Mississippi River.
So that's pretty cool. Starts in a park, but is a regional trail. It's a really long trail, lots of hiding potential.

I agree that we have already been told what it is hidden in. Exactly what is still up for debate. Right now, I'm liking that trail.
The CC ski trails at BC are quite hilly - they double as mountain bike trails in the summer (allows/forbids)
BC, Como, and Crosby are still my top 3 (for now  )
Fun for all, for one some glory.
Why would one only have 'some' glory?? Don't you get all the glory?
By the way, 'some glory' is a shakesphere sonnet.
