They sure showed the Bruce Vento signs up close on the video explaining last years clues. Would they be that obvious for this year in BV? Oh, and it looks like the "clue hider" wears red socks over his boots.http://www.twincities.com/treasurehunt/ci_22480222
I'm wondering if the CW is following a pattern so to speak. I was staring at past clues this week of all the years and the past two years have been reprised from 1988,1998 (ten year difference). Could this year be another leap into 2008? If so IMP would be the place and their master plan was approved in 2011 for all the new edditions they are doing.
No reason for a Nature Sanctuary this year. My God, first year in a long spell we have persistent snow cover. No good reason for another dig in the woods.
Put it out in the middle of the Como East Picnic Grounds.
My hubby laughed at me the other day when I was going over all the things I want to get done this week since I'll be a little "consumed" once the hunt starts.
I was telling him of all these training modules and webinars I need to do before the 26th, obviously I need to get them done this week, because next week I'll be worthless. He laughed hysterically when I said "I need to resist looking at hunt related stuff this week - they'll be plenty of time not to work next week"
You have wonderful restraint! Wish I could say the same. I cranked out my work documentation for next Tuesday's exec meeting but hopefully its quiet after because I know my time will be focused else where. What a terrible employee that I am during the hunt!
Nice tater-training and webinars, I used to have to create both of those items at my old gig. It is time consuming for sure! Good job cranking them out.
My co-workers know the deal and cut me some slack the first week, since they know I take off 3 days the following week. I just have to be careful how much time I spend online with my work computer since it will block a lot of "time waster sites" like facebook, youtube, and other social sites. So far (knock on wood) it hasn't blocked ableminds. THANK GOD! Since I don't have a smart phone (I know, I should have one by now) this is the only link I have to live hunt discussions.
That's nice that they do that. I'm too new at my job to start the hunt conversations. I did let it slip to my new boss that the hunt starts this weekend but she knew what it was and thought it was a good "family" activity. I just didn't share the sleepless nights, relentless time in the parks, ignoring anything non-hunt related, etc.
You need to get a smartphone! It is a great tool to use during the hunt. I still can't imagine they make non-smartphones hee hee. So far my work hasn't blocked here or the old PP board. Everything else though, forget it.
I do and so far I really like it. It is a "all in one type" app so you have the clues, tips/news related to the hunt/ photos and videos/ past park map and pin points with information. I also like the social media aspect of the app which is Facebook, the forums (granted the bad new one), twitter, and you can send photos to them from the app. I personally love this idea because it saves from having to try to view all these different sections via internet on my phone and trying to zoom in. All these links are right within one spot of the app so you just click on the icon to open those sections.
I just realized that I'm in a pickle. They changed my start time a couple of months ago to 3pm instead of 4pm. I used to get done at 12:30am, which meant I could be online for the clue release and noodle the clues with y'all. Now that I get done at 11:30pm, I'll be in transit when the clue is released and miss all the rapid noodling. :frown:
Unless I want to stay late at work off the clock... :pbpt:
Serious question here... since this place has gone to the tumbleweeds all year long in place of Facebook, is it worth it to renew JUST for the hunt? My membership expires Monday.
I think that's a question you need to answer for yourself. Last year it seemed people semi-abandoned Facebook halfway through the hunt to post here instead. So I imagine a lot will still get posted here. Is it worth $10 to you to read it?
Plus, here you can go back and correct your posts!
The Deed is Done vid zoomed in and mentioned pine trees and "pine". Near or in pine tree(s)? However, was led to believe the videos don't really have much to do with the actual location.
I think I liked these pages more for keeping in touch with Coolers the rest of the year, not just noodling. Facebook has pretty much replaced that use entirely.
I've gotten more insight verbally from people at Gabe's and in the parks than from the noodling in here, even though it is damn entertaining - but I usually end up reading most of these posts in hindsight after the hunt is done. Last year I didn't even read a single word on the PP boards at all. Since I now work near Gabe's (instead of in Wisconsin) it will be fairly easy to hang out there more often this year.
Isn't the "Shoot the Breeze with Cooler Crew" still a public-use thread?
I am kinda hoping for Como (cO NO!) or maybe Central Park this year.
