What's the name of the railroad that crosses over Maryland (Marydale)?, are there different names for railroads along the same rail lines?

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 5:46 PM Permalink

The guide says Eileen Weida park is located "in Railroad Island".

Mapquest says Northern Pacific

Yeah, that's what I thought

Spent my entire dinner time staring at a map trying to figure this out. So far no luck. There are roads that veer off in a different direction, or meet up at a point and become one, but none that really cross themselves.

On my map, the road around Irvine Park isn't named. Anyone know what that is for sure?

Looks like Ryan and Walnut to me.

Those streets go up to the street that goes around the park. But that street bordering the park goes all around the park. Is it Ryan? Walnut? Something else?

Closest thing to a street crossing itself I've found thus far. That why I'm wondering about that.

In the guide it looks like Ryan is on two sides and Walnut on another and then it says dead end street overlooking river but doesn't name it.

I should know better than to put my guide away after the PP hunt. I have a St. Paul map I'm looking at.

Mine stays right here in my desk drawer. And amazingly enough, I haven't misplaced it yet. :) I should be so lucky with my specs!

I keep waiting for a song lyric in a clue. I don't know anything about modern music but I don't see any lyrics in these clues. Anyone else?

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 6:12 PM Permalink
Terry

I found my specs and an old magnifying glass. So far it's not helping much.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 6:12 PM Permalink
Terry

Not me either - but I keep humming the White Rabbit! LOL!!!

I take that back. Ever since Kitch mentioned Eileen Weida Park I've had Come On Eileen running through my mind.

Lakeford Park East and West go around Langford Park and I guess run into each other - there is no real deliniation where one starts and the other begins.

And, while the houses on the park say their address is 93 Langford Park West or something, I don't know what the streets sign say.

Also, it could be a rail road crossing

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 6:24 PM Permalink

Or a switch back?

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 6:30 PM Permalink

Seems like the meaning of this clue is obvious enough that we should be getting it.

I really like the railroad x-ing idea....i'm still thinking about it...bbl

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:23 PM Permalink

That's what I'm thinking Terry. It's one of those clues that when it's explained we'll probably go, duh!

This has been floating through my head. Roads that cross are crossroads. Not sure where that might lead, but there is the noodle.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:32 PM Permalink
KITCH

a crossroad like a "turning point" or a "situation point"?? I had the same idea...just not sure how to run with it....

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:37 PM Permalink
Terry

So when one comes to a crossroad in life, there's usually a couple of paths to decide upon and either way, you're life is likely to change.

So with that change in mind, could a crossroads be Annapolis - the line of double division where St. Paul borders West St. Paul and also where Ramsey County borders Dakota county?

KITCH

something I need to figure out is that alice seen the cat long enough to get a "qoute" but it disappeared again...why??

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:39 PM Permalink
Terry

So we'd have a clue?

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:40 PM Permalink
KITCH

maybe just that but I'm wondering if more to it the just the one line...

That traffic island around the fountain at Como, is that Lexington? Does it cross itself when it meets at either end?

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:46 PM Permalink
Terry

I don't know if that's considered Lexington or not. You have to turn into that area and about half way around you can veer off that circle drive into the parking lot by the pavillion.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:47 PM Permalink
OT

Hi Reggie. Any ideas?

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:53 PM Permalink
OT

Across the railroad tracks from McMurray Field is a circle called Cushing Drive and Cushing Circle. Off of Energy Drive.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 7:57 PM Permalink
KITCH

what about this idea...
I honestly think I got it...
highland park zone 1
edgecumbe road is a parkway ...then it merges on the bridge ..then splits again...makes a X

this is the same zone that has the disc golf...as in the platters...
maybe the TEA box for the disc golf??

but edgecumbe isn't that long there...

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:01 PM Permalink
OT

The Battle of Lexington could be an important date. Man, I'm stretching here, but just putting down anything and everything I think of. Maybe someone else can make some sense out of it all.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:01 PM Permalink
OT

Good noodle, Kitch.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:01 PM Permalink
Terry

Kitch - I also looked at Edgecumbe...but the magnifier I was using wasn't helping much.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:03 PM Permalink
KITCH

is there any other parkways that merge then split again??

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:03 PM Permalink
OT

That's where I was going with the split at Lexington around the fountain.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:05 PM Permalink
Terry

Lexington does that sorta...has no median, then there's a median between University and just before you get to Como Park the median disappears, comes back as you go over the bridge near the trolley station and then becomes a two way street again with a median as it winds through the park.

Thu, 03/04/2004 - 8:06 PM Permalink
Terry

Actually, that median comes back just after Jessamine goes west on the south side of McMurray field.

Something tells me we're going off in the wrong direction on this clue though. A road that crosses itself might just refer to a road or street name. Something that crosses itself. Arms? Legs? Eyes? What crosses itself?

I don't know, Reg.
