2004 Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt

Submitted by THX 1138 on

Welcome to the 5th Annual Allison Wonderland Mock Hunt!

The treasure was found just before 9am on Wednesday, March 10th, by Me2. She will get a prize around $290 plus a variety of other goodies. It was found in Marydale Park on the north side in a pit under a tree near lamp post #12.

The wrap up party will be Saturday, March 13th at 8pm at Fabulous Fern's.

I'm going to guess it was in Minnehaha Park.

Nope. St Paul park, and not West Minnehaha :)

Do you know where it was found?

I can figure out the park, and I have an idea where in the park. But I don't know where in the park for sure.

No time to noodle but I do have some time to bitch. This is now an annual flop for the Strib. Give it up boys, or at least entrust this duty to someone a bit more trustworthy or security conscious. Sheesh! Lame! Joke!

I'm sticking with Minnehaha. The entrance is off of 51st and Hiawatha which is also hgwy 55. I think that the lore they mention in clue #1 is the tale of Hiawatha and the NBA Champion Spurs could refer to the railroad spur that runs parallel to the park.

So you figure the smaller of the twins is St. Paul? Would they really hide it in St. Paul?

The hunt was for all of Hennepin and Ramsey county.

That makes sense. They do call themselves the newspaper of the Twin Cities, don't they?

Is that a cache location Ian?

BTW, I got the marydale cache this morning, the guy actually found a decent little spot, but I still wonder how long it'll last...

And what's the deal with not using the last link Kitch? too much bandwidth gettin used up?

Kids called me the day the Strib posted that it was found! HOLY FRIGGEN COW! I couldnt believe it! There is no way someone could have found it in a big park on 2 clues unless

A: The person was out strolling with the dog and ...oooops, "whats this" and found it -which means it wasnt hidden well-cause we have all participated in summer hunts and even those are hidden well.

B: insider! someone told someone

KUDOS TO KIDS! he also told me he thought Highland right away!
Looks like if a park doesnt click with any of us on clue 1 than we may as well never participate :( - I thought AW was gonna do some sort of hunt where you can figure out a park with only 1 clue and go to that park and get another clue that takes you to another park with 1 clue and so on.

Redbear had a hunt like that last year. Turns out his hiding spot had been moved before his medallion was found, but Outta had figured out the spot first and won the prize. He hid it near one of the Peanuts on Parade statues and they had rounded them all up by the time his treasure was found.

that cave under the highbridge kicks ass... we used to go in there all the time.. ditching school, or just for the hell of it.

The first time I walked in that bait shop I was afraid that I might become bait! Old Pig Eye and his buddy were very creepy.

I haven't set the date for it yet. That is usually affected by the PP hunt. If the PP hunt is real short, I try to do it pretty soon afterwards. It it's real long, I may wait at least a month to give people some recovery time.

But I do think this is a fairly brilliant idea. I can definitely see this being my best hunt yet.

Sounds fun AW!  Can't wait.

Hey, what's the deal with this thread having 1161 unread posts?  Did you do something to it THX?  It went back to 3/3/04 for some reason.
