she cut her parents down at practically every puzzle. Telling her dad that he's wasting time with the mirrors!! omg! she wasn't just whiney she was plain rude. Give peoples idea a chance --at least look at them funny as if their idea is crazy instead of cutting them down.

what I thought was funny is she wanted him to start a new hole, he said "let me just finish this one" and it ended up being in that hole.

And how many times do you think that has happened in his life with her? At this point in life he must just know to do whatever she says not to do. Works every time.

Although that may have been another editing thing and she really tells him that everything he does is wrong. Sheesh! :eyeroll:

Not to toot my own horn again but I figured out how to decipher the clue way before they did any editing hints.

They must do that on purpose to get people to want to try it out. I yell at the screen similar to when I know the phrase on the Wheel. :eyeroll:

And for those playing the on-line game. This link is for you. Caution - it is a spoiler.

I figured it out too, I was pretty damn proud of myself.

also, like I was telling pops, I'm suprised they aren't using the internet a lot more to help them, I wonder if there is some sort of limit?

because it seems they have wireless cards in the laptops so they should be able to use internet while traveling.

just for hoots and hollars I messed around with ask.com and figured out how to get the message within minutes...

enter benjamin franklin spy, the 3rd result (and first one with any sort of info) has this...

"Invisible ink: Several kinds of invisible inks were used by both sides during the war. One type was activated with heat and others by various chemicals. The invisible message was usually written between the lines of another letter, which would appear to be totally innocent. Upon receipt, the reader would either heat the letter over a flame or put it into a chemical bath to reveal the hidden message."

Now when you actually get to the church, full of candles, if you already had that background info, you should be able to figure it out in less than 4 hours.

We should be on this show.

Odd that the one piece isn't on the board yet.. think that's where their treasure is? I've guessed it once already.

agreed Tim. I wondered why they didn't use their computers as well. There wasn't as much drama this time.

I could feel the pressures of working with a group and what you share and don't share. The Fogels shared because of the bond they made with the other teams and got shafted!

I thought the end of the episode was pretty good. For a bit I thought the geniuses were gonna lose out, but it was amazing to see it work out the way it did.

Not too many episodes left.

Clue Master

Do you think you need to be specific or just general? I guessed general two times now. It's different than where I think they're going on the show though.

KC0GRN

Yeah, but the winner gets to meet the cast at the final live show... unless that's different.

Clue Master

I think that's right. That's where you get to compete to win the 200k.

10 people get 10k and then they have a treasure hunt for 100k

KC0GRN

Hmmm... well the only team left that I hope makes it is the Geniuses. Trouble is if the final episodes have a bunch of physical challenges, they'll probably be gone.

I could have never done that climbing challenge. I do know how to drive fast though.

Hey KC - You get through this weeks puzzle yet?

I needed to send the kid to bed and didn't want to finish it without her. But we got stuck at the oil fields. We'll give it another go around after work.
Tue, 08/01/2006 - 12:26 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

oil fields? Did you get the chain from the graveyard?

Yeah I finished it last evening. Liked the candle puzzle.

I coulda done the climbing, didn't look that horrific. However, a nice ride in an air conditioned car would've been just as good.

I caught up the other night and finished all the challenges, we'll have to chat about what the final answer is.

Two ideas on that. American History Museum or National Archives.

Lotta people think it'll be near the Star Spangled Banner.
Tue, 08/01/2006 - 1:51 PM Permalink
Clue Master

I last left it when we were in a truck headed to where they first discovered oil in Pittsburg or something. We looked that graveyard up and down and only found a key to the church. Don't say any more as I want to work with the kid on it again.

I like the DC puzzle. How detailed of a guess do you think they want us to give? Just DC? Or do we need to dive into where along the mall it actually is?

It's fun blabbing in their chat rooms. It kinda reminds me of this crazy bunch of winter medallion hunters I once seen in a movie.

Last week's challenge. Lotta Crabtree, that was some interesting history. My great grandparents last name was Crabtree (no relation I'm sure). So, at least it's been cool to find out some little known history along the way.

Very nice they included Sleepy Hollow this week.

I'm assuming they're looking for more info than just DC. Most likely they want to know the building it's in. However since I've been able to guess every week, I've tried a few different locations.

Clue Master

Heh - I guessed DC every week so far. I guess it's time for more detail.

We finished the puzzle. Thanks for the tip. Funny how they would use that lever twice.

I decided to guess the Capitol building this time in case they want to be more specific. And in case you missed it before;

Tue, 08/01/2006 - 7:03 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

yeah I tried the Capitol a bit ago. Would be funny if it ends up in a building I visited on my trip there....

tim_the_hunter

how many times can you guess the final answer? if you get it right do they let you know or can you keep changing your answer?
Wed, 08/02/2006 - 4:54 PM Permalink
Clue Master

You have one guess a week. And they don't notify you. (unless I'm wrong of course)
Wed, 08/02/2006 - 9:13 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

nah, I don't think they notify you. I'm assuming next week (the final challenge) will be almost a dead giveaway for where the treasure is (like the davinci code quest).

Is that a hint or a question? I asked the helicopter to go all kinds of places with no luck. If it's a hint I'll try again. Thanks

A Gold Rush clue is hidden in tonight's premiere episode of 'Survivor: Cook Islands'. So, if you tune into CBS tonight at 8pm et/pt and watch the show, you'll get valuable information that will help you complete today's challenge.

I can't watch - if you watch it will you please post the answer?

Sorry guys.... I was trying to play too, but it aint gonna happen...

I got #'s 1, 4, 5, and 6 (although it doesnt register that I did), and tried doing a couple of other ones... but my computer is too slow and crappy and violated with whatever it has...

I like the triva stuff though.... I'm too good at that stuff.

Sometimes you dont realize how good, until you're at a bar or whatever with friends, and you're consistantly the only one thats able to come up with right answers....

KC0GRN

I'm not playing.

Tried a few different online games, only to find out that, yes, I solved some fun puzzles, but my skill at solving them wasn't rewarded. Unless you count the reward as solving the puzzle. In which case, there's a ton of sites out there with puzzles. There's other things I need to work on, or can improve, eventually with myself it comes down to time management, which I usually suck at anyway. So in the end, I'm going to start investing more time into some things I've meant to that I can improve at. Shoot, I kill enough time geocaching
