Heh, I was sitting with this mother on that bench yesterday. They were new to the twin cities. Her husband was out searching around that area while she watched their baby in the stroller. We were talking about hunts, I was giving her a bit of knowledge about hunts around the cities. I told her I had a feeling it was going to be here, because of the landmark of the bench. I was looking and thinking it was going to be down towards the field more. I checked the trees around the ponds towards the field, but I didn't walk that much south into the trees. Don't know if it would have helped though, since it could have been found by then. I wonder what that mother is going to think though once she reads the clues.
I just backed up the clues, downloaded the map. I got a jumpdrive I'm going to start archiving everything I can from these hunts. Now to see about researching some of the older ones.
Got a todo list this week, drop by Oakdale city hall, get the clue explanations (and badger them a bit for the older hunts, someone somewhere has got to have the info). Then do the same for the Manitou Days hunt. Also thought I'd convey to them how I was bummed about all these hunts happening at the same time. Probably nothing they can do considering they coincide with city celebrations, but maybe someone can let someone higher up know?
Why wait. Where's the clues? I want in damn it! After Oakdale's shitty clues and Roseville's find not getting posted until after searching for many hours after the find and many of them around the exact tree it was found by. I have the drive. Watch out PM & Blowtis! CM is heading your way. :worried:
actually I'm not but I am still jonsin for a decent hunt.
Just to be able to find one. BTW.. I think I need to come up with some way of displaying all the hunts I've participated in.. thinking maybe a walking stick or something I can burn in all the hunts I've done. Gotta have something to show for all the time I've spent out there wandering the parks....
Here's the clues, there's nothing in terms of explanation, but there is a link on there that shows the exact location on Google Maps. The medallion itself was hidden in a hole at the bottom of an oak tree. It wasn't immediately visible. It required you to reach in and grab it. If you need anything else, just send me an email.
Impressed as well. I liked those clues. If it wasn't for the rain the night before I know we would have found it since it was in an obvious tree that all of us looked in. Good hunt IMO.

They didn't take it off the site, just the link to it.

I happen to have a wood burner, think I'll just mark it like my rake.

While crews continue their work on the roads
there's a quiet place where the trucks don't go
hidden away where no one can see
lies the medallion at the base of a tree.
Basically says it's by road construction on S Owasso Blvd, in a quiet
secluded spot, and at the base of a tree.
As the sun rises you can see its reflection
while ducks and geese enjoy the protection
a splash away from where the wildlife nests
is a comfy spot where the medallion rests.
Says it's hidden just west of a body of water, eliminating any parks
with water.
Today's athletes travel a stunning route
lined with beautiful scenery throughout
follow the runners and you will stray
and never find where the treasure lay.
It isn't anywhere near the 2006 route of the Run/Roll for the Roses
Let your imagination fly and sail
as you search Roseville over hill and through dale
electricity is in the air as you continue your search
follow the tracks to the medallions perch.
Sail referred to the sail like features in the Owasso Hills playground.
Hill was referring to the name of the park, and Dale is the street the
park is off of.
Electricity referred to the overhead powerlines
Tracks referred to the nearby railroad tracks passing by.
With back trails and a play site for young
is a Roseville park with merits unsung
find it by land or find it by sea
take a bow as soft searchers will flee.
This one basically just says it's in Owasso Hills Park. Owasso is hidden
in the last line.
Stay to the right on a path of tar
find the secluded play field and you've gone too far
by a neighborhood view sits a moving rest place
take 15 paces south and you've won the race.
This one's pretty blatant
impressed...
