What about when you're influenced by seemingly everything, though?

I think maybe thats why its hard for me to even think about a list like this....

I dont want to leave stuff off, because I like everything...

and dont want it to seem like i'm listing my top 10 and thats it... 100 is probably more likely :goofy:

but even then, pretty much all of them could be re-arranged on any given day.

High On Stress - Table 8 in Queens

rock n' roll can kiss my ass

It's never saved anyone

driving under the overpass

you never helped anyone

this year has been so great

I'm walking in the shadows of our first date

this year has been so cursed

I'm walking in the shadows of a near divorce

you can't let go

now that you're grown

you can't leave it alone

now that you're grown

you can't leave it alone

parking meters running out

and the ramps are full

old friends can kiss my ass

they never done anything

and the years go by so fast

and i wouldn't even change a thing

I'm just being honest with you

why can't you be honest with

yourself too

I'm glad i didn't change my mind

I lost my friends to the neon signs

they couldn't let go

and you got what you wanted

now you can't write it off your mind

most of this is what you wanted

trying to find something you can't find

this one gets me every damn time....in two places...

in the heart, and in that lump in the throat

I hate it when they play this one, live at bars or where-have-you.... its usually my piss break signal.

High On Stress - NO SUCH THING AS AN EASY BREAK

I guess you're finally gone

no more nothing's wrong

I guess I was naive to think we'd have a family someday

Can't say I didn't see it coming

doesn't make it hurt any less

shadows on the wall, "Clocks" in the air, can't hear nothing

now that you're gone

I get up and read the news and shake away

these dusty blues from you

I guess there's nothing i can say but lay here and stay awake

thinking of you

She says, "I still love you" (I still love you)

"just not the way that you want me to"

She says she still cares but how am i supposed to feel

she said that all along

I get up and read the news and shake away

these dusty blues from you

I guess there's nothing i can say but lay here and stay awake

thinking of you (I still love you)

Over My Head (Cable Car)

Artist: The Fray

Album: How To Save A Life

Year: 2005

I never knew

I never knew that everything was falling through

That everyone I knew was waiting on a cue

To turn and run when all I needed was the truth

But that's how it's got to be

It's coming down to nothing more than apathy

I'd rather run the other way than stay and see

The smoke and who's still standing when it clears and

Everyone knows I'm in

Over my head

Over my head

With eight seconds left in overtime

She's on your mind

She's on your mind

Let's rearrange

I wish you were a stranger I could disengage

Just say that we agree and then never change

Soften a bit until we all just get along

But that's disregard

You find another friend and you discard

As you lose the argument in a cable car

Hanging above as the canyon comes between and

Everyone knows I'm in

Over my head

Over my head

With eight seconds left in overtime

She's on your mind

She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in

Over my head

Over my head

With eight seconds left in overtime

She's on your mind

She's on

And suddenly I become a part of your past

I'm becoming the part that don't last

I'm losing you and its effortless

Without a sound we lose sight of the ground

In the throw around

Never thought that you wanted to bring it down

I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

Everyone knows I'm in

Over my head

Over my head

With eight seconds left in overtime

She's on your mind

She's on your mind

Everyone knows

She's on your mind

Everone knows I'm in

Over my head

I'm in over my head

I'm over my

Everyone knows I'm in

Over my head

Over my head

With eight seconds left in overtime

She's on your mind

She's on your mind

Ok, thees are not necessarily my favorites, but are my top 10 most influential albums (I'm old). They are not in any order either.

I think I shoulda put Led Zep 4 on instead of Yes. Yea we seem to have similar tastes. I couldn't come with with my favorite 10 so figured I'd do the ten that influenced my musical choices now.

I listened to Aerosmith rocks the other day and had forgotten how much I liked it. It was the 1st time I had heard or thought of it in a long time.

Sitting on a park bench --

Eyeing ittle girls with bad intent.

Snot running down his nose --

Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.

Drying in the cold sun --

Watching as the frilly panties run.

Feeling like a dead duck --

Spitting out pieces of his broken luck.

Sun streaking cold --

An old man wandering lonely.

Taking time

The only way he knows.

Leg hurting bad,

As he bends to pick a dog-end --

He goes down to the bog

And warms his feet.

Feeling alone --

The armyÂ’s up the rode

Salvation à la mode and

A cup of tea.

Aqualung my friend --

DonÂ’t start away uneasy

You poor old sod, you see, itÂ’s only me.

Do you still remember

DecemberÂ’s foggy freeze --

When the ice that

Clings on to your beard is

Screaming agony.

And you snatch your rattling last breaths

With deep-sea-diver sounds,

And the flowers bloom like

Madness in the spring.

Nice 3M!! I had almost forgotten about this one!

That goes with most of what I post too. They just happen to be my favorite album of that particular band. I tend to like all of their stuff though. Zeppelin was the hardest to narrow down so I went with the most popular even though each of them are the same to me.

Sevendust - Black

1st verse

voices call, they call out my name, (my name, my name)

they say I'm different well I'm not the same (the same)

you say you want

to be like me (like me, like me)

well boy let me tell you,

you didn't know what I've seen.

2nd verse

They say the devil

lives in my soul

(my soul, my soul)

I promise not to let him

take control

Chorus

I'm minding

my own business.

I ain't doing

nothing wrong

I ain't doing

nothing wrong.

3rd verse

shadows follow

So close behind me

I look in the mirror

I don't like what I see.

Oh God, Can't you help me

get out of here?

(here, here)

I feel like I'm living

deep in hell.

Chorus

I'm minding

my own business

I ain't doing

nothing wrong

(Black)

Chorus

I'm minding

my own business

I ain't doing

nothing wrong

I'm minding,

I'm minding my own.

I ain't doing

nothing wrong

I ain't doing

nothing wrong

nothing wrong

hahaha...lmao

sorry.... Sevendust is funny for me...

we had run-ins with them backstage at X-Fest 2 years in a row, that were hilarious....

the deal:

the first year, we were talking to the lead singer, and the drummer from Mudvayne and when they asked about who we liked/disliked, myself, steve and his bro, started dissing Sevendust and Murder One, pretty bad....

most of Sevendust walked in, right then looking for hot-dogs, which we had taken the last of, to which we laughed at, and got some evil stare-downs in return.

whoops.

the very next year, we were backstage, hanging out, and they walked by, on their way to the stage area, and started walking over, like they thought we were gonna hound them for an autograph......

Steve, not realizing who it was goes "who the hell are those dorks?!?!", and his brother says "man, thats those guys who were pissed that we ate their hotdogs last year!"

right about then, they stopped walking...probably because they heard Steve call em dorks.... and at the same time all 3 of us go "hey guys! you want a weenie?"

I cant ever take those guys seriously, after those incidents.... good times.

I miss X-Fest :frown:

Funny to see you post the Savatage album... A buddy of mine just asked if I had any of their stuff... Had to tell him no. :frown: Also to see listed Scorpions 'Blackout'... Was my first CD ever!

Good stuff... I was starting a list of all of my stuff, to post in case someone gets bored for a half hour or so, but my hand got tired and I had to take a break... Didn't even make it to the LP's and tapes downstairs, nor to the car...

OMG! Listing ALL your stuff? Sheesh. I have about 5k recordings. I couldn't even fathom that. Although I do have them indexed in a recording book I have where I had to keep adding pages. It's calmed down a bit since Napster started.

this is for Nick - since I know how much he *LOVES* Nickleback.. I just got their album yesterday - although not for normal reasons..

Rockstar - Nickelback

I'm through with standin' in lines

to clubs I'll never get in

It's like the bottom of the NINTH

and I'm never gonna win this

life hasn't turned out

quite the way I want it to be

I want a brand new house

on an episode of Cribs

And a bathroom I can play baseball in

And a king size tub big enough

for ten plus me

I need a credit card that's got no limit

And a big black jet with a bedroom in it

Gonna join the mile high club

At thirty-seven thousand feet

I want a new tour bus full of old guitars

My own star on Hollywood Boulevard

Somewhere between Cher and

James Dean is fine for me

I'm gonna trade this life for fortune and fame

I'd even cut my hair and change my name

[CHORUS]

'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars

Livin in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars

The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap

We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat

And I'll hang out in the coolest bars

with the VIP's with the movie stars

Every good gold digger's

Gonna wind up there

Every Playboy bunny

With her bleach blond hair

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

I wanna be great like Elvis without the tassels

Hire eight body guards that love to beat up assholes

Sign a couple autographs

So I can eat my meals for free

I'm gonna dress my ass

with the latest fashion

Get a front door key to the Playboy mansion

Gonna date a centerfold that loves to

blow my money for me

I'm gonna trade this life

For fortune and fame

I'd even cut my hair

And change my name

'Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars

Livin in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars

The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap

Well I'll stay skinny 'cause I just won't eat

And I'll hang out in the coolest bars

with the VIP's and the movie stars

Every good gold digger's

Gonna wind up there

Every Playboy bunny

With her bleach blond hair

And we'll hide out in the private rooms

With the latest dictionary of

today's who's who

They'll get you anything

with that evil smile

Everybody's got a

drug dealer on speed dial well

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

I'm gonna sing those songs

that offend the censors

Gonna pop my pills

from a pez dispenser

Get washed-up singers writing all my songs

then lipsynk 'em every night so I don't get 'em wrong

Well we all just wanna be big rockstars

And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars

The girls come easy and the drugs come cheap

We'll all stay skinny 'cause we just won't eat

And we'll hang out in the coolest bars

with the VIP's with the movie stars

Every good gold digger's

Gonna wind up there

Every Playboy bunny

With her bleach blond hair

And we'll hide out in the private rooms

With the latest dictionary of

today's who's who

They'll get you anything

with that evil smile

Everybody's got a

Hey hey I wanna be a rockstar

I'm in a mood...

Artist/Band: Little Texas

Lyrics for Song: Amy's Back In Austin

Lyrics for Album: Kick A Little

We left Texas on a windy night

In a beat-up Chevy van

We loaded it up with our innocent dreams

And all the love we had

We didn't know then how hard it was

Livin' on our own

I'd find her cryin' late at night

Talkin' to the folks back home

I wonder what went wrong

And where is she now I'd love to know

I bet Amy's back in Austin

Workin' at the LaZona Rosa Cafe

I remember the night we lost it

And the day she went away

Was it the angry words or did she miss her momma

I don't know but it don't feel right

I bet Amy's back in Austin

And I'm missin' her tonight

Workin' ten hours in a West Coast sun

Can make the days so long

And watchin' the moon crashin' into the ocean

Alone sure gets old

I remember how sweet it was

Where is she now I need to know

I bet Amy's back in Austin

Workin' at the LaZona Rosa Cafe

I remember the night we lost it

And the day she went away

Was it the angry words or did she miss her momma

I don't know but it don't feel right

I bet Amy's back in Austin

And I'm missin' her tonight

Could this desert wind

Carry me back again

With my heart in my hand

Baby, baby I'm missin' you

Was it the angry words or did she miss her momma

I don't know but it don't feel right

I bet Amy's back in Austin

And I'm missin' her missin' her tonight

Oh I bet Amy's back in Austin

I bet Amy's back in Austin

I bet Amy's back in Austin

I bet Amy's back in Austin

I bet Amy's back in Austin

I bet Amy's back in Austin

Has anybody seen Amy - John and Audrey Wiggins

Lookin' at this town through older eyes

It's grown much too fat to recognize

There's a freeway up and the park's torn down

There's not a soul that I know around

Has anybody seen Amy

In her tan bare feet on the summertime street

Can her kiss still turn the winter warm

Or is she just a figment of

What I recall of yesterday's love

Has anybody seen Amy anymore

I can't see the stars through the neon lights

But there's still a crowd where the boys hang out at night

The songs I hear from those teenage cars

Still got the beat but they've lost the heart

Has anybody seen Amy

In her tan bare feet on the summertime street

Can her kiss still turn the winter warm

Or is she just a figment of

What I recall of yesterday's love

Has anybody seen Amy anymore

You can feel your age when you face the fact

You can always go home

But you can never go back

Has anybody seen Amy

In her tan bare feet on the summertime street

Can her kiss still turn the winter warm

Or is she just a figment of

What I recall of yesterday's love

Has anybody seen Amy anymore

And lets not forget our new national anthem today.

Nuestro Himno

Amanece - ¿lo véis a la luz de la aurora?

Lo que tanto aclamamos la noche al caer;

¡Oh, decid! ¿Despliega aún su hermosura estrellada,

sobre tierra de libres, la bandera sagrada?

[edit]

English translation

It should be noted that just like any translation, the Spanish lyrics of Nuestro Himno cannot be translated literally, word for word. For example, the Spanish word "libertad" means both "freedom" and "liberty". Because of this, this translation can never be exact, and will always be subject to differing interpretations.

Nuestro Himno

Do you see it arising, by the light of the dawn,

That which we hailed so much when the night fell?

Its stars, its stripes were streaming yesterday

In the fierce combat, as a sign of victory,

The brilliance of battle, in step with freedom,

Throughout the night they said: "It will be defended!"

Oh say you! Does it still wave, its starred beauty,

Over the land of the free, the sacred flag?

Its stars, its stripes, liberty, we are equal.

We are brothers, it is our anthem.

In the fierce combat, as a sign of victory,

The brilliance of battle... (My people, keep fighting!)

...in step with freedom, (Now is the time to break the chains!)

Throughout the night they said: "It will be defended!"

Oh say you! Does it still wave, its starred beauty,

Over the land of the free, the sacred flag?
