conflicting reports...

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2002515871_webrita23.html

Rita could plow straight into the Beaumont and Port Arthur area, a stretch of refineries and chemical plants about 75 miles east of Houston.

Scores of petrochemical plants are situated along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast in the nation's biggest concentration of oil refineries, and damage and disruptions caused by Rita could cause already-rising oil and gasoline prices to go even higher. Also, environmentalists warned of the possibility of a toxic spill.

Here is what I don't get - MN gas is mostly from Canada and our gas is refined here. So, why are our gas prices going up???
Fri, 09/23/2005 - 11:30 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

quite simple. Supply vs. demand. Everyone sees a hurricane down south, so they buy up gas now thinking the price will go up. So basically we're doing ourselves in by panicing.

It's 2.39 over here- Cherokee Park

and will the gas station charge me less if I go in and tell them I am not panicing?

They could post it on their signs

Regular gas panic 2.99

Regular gas no panic 2.49

how about the tapping the car ceiling when going under a bridge?

THX 1138

how about the tapping the car ceiling when going under a bridge?

I though the rule when going under a bridge was to hold it up, by placing your hands on the ceiling of the car?

I learned to tap the ceiling when the light is changing. Tapping it supposedly prevents the light from changing red when you're in the intersection.

yeah.... I know about that one too.... if the light is yellow, you tap the windshield for good luck....

also: tapping the roof, when you see a pediddle (car with one headlight)....

back to the train track thing though.... some people go a bit farther and do "lift your feet and touch a screw".... thats just crazy though..... too much stuff going on....

- september 21st - 25th

- January 22nd and the 22nd of seemingly every month after that.

- sadness.....doing things to get away from it, only to make it worse.....

- running out of toilet paper while dropping a deuce....

- using the internet after ive been drinking and doing other crap....

- rain, when the weather people say its not in the forecast....

- getting halfway through making a peanut butter and jelly sammich.... only to realize that your out of jelly.....

- how my dog and cat automatically know that food is being accessed in the kitchen, and come to see whats going on, and wait for me to drop something on the floor....

- pictures of me

- pictures of me looking happy

- pictures of me looking happy with other people....

- pictures of me looking happy with other people who used to make me happy, but now make me confused, sad, mad, etc.....

- a hole in the wall..... and trying to fix it after a night of intoxicating substances.....

People who you give good advice to for their problems, and other people give similar advice to the same person, yet that person won't listen at all, then continues to complain long afterwards that they still have the same problems.

People who are focused only on what they want, not on what other's want. People who have multiple friends wanting to help them by giving them advice on what is best for them, and having that person ignore it because it's not what they want. Feeling like you're talking to a brick wall that won't listen at all, but just whines repeatedly.

hey now.... whats wrong with cassette players?

you can find some kick ass "best of the 80's" tapes.... at like......wal-mart and k-mart and other crappy stores like that
Sun, 09/25/2005 - 12:48 PM Permalink
Tatergirl

Nothing wrong with them. But wouldn't you at least order a CD player also if you were spending the dough on a new car? What's a few hundred bucks when you're dropping 20-30 grand? And who only has cassettes?
Sun, 09/25/2005 - 1:14 PM Permalink
Wicked Nick

true....

I always get into it with my sister when having that discussion... all she has is a radio... and THAT sucks worse than only a tape player....

someplace around here, we've got an 8-track player that used to be in a car.... one day I will install that beast in some brand new car... just so people go: "what the HELL??!?!?"
