An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.
One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course , the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.
But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.
After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream
"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?"
"That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."
"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my table.
Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace this life."
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
SO, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!
and keep in mind, even though the top of this thread says "irritates" ... its been a place to vent disapointments and sadness just as much as things that rub you the wrong way. :frown:
<- thinks CM .. nah never mind.. I can't say that here.
irritates: being asked - can you help with something... (saying yes) and then getting walloped with this HUGE task.. that is not HELPING. it is doing every damn thing myself.
and youre right about 'rubbing'- I thought it as I typed it but I forgot my friends think pretty much the same as me and would catch it  :sheepish:
Packet8, VoIP, and idiot tech support people that keep me on the line for half an hour because they don't have a clue who works in their department, who handles number porting requests, and how to even give me a correct email address.
Top that off with telling my boss he should call them and try to rattle some cages (since I'm obviously getting nowhere) and my boss gives me a blank look and says if I'm still having problems tomorrow we'll try and handle it then.
Now this brilliant tech support guy is shirking me off telling me to call back tomorrow and they should have some information (i.e. "I have no clue, please call back another time so that I don't have to handle it").
And no, asking to speak to his supervisor didn't help.
Grrrrr.. why am I surrounded by fricking idiots?!?!?!?!?!
I swear the hospitals are handing out coupons for free Lobotomies or something.
bwahhhh! That's it, I am out to lunch for the rest of the day, I cannot and will not be responsible for my own actions until I'm off the clock.
So we have this silly discount option if a customer orders stuff in bulk. Problem is, to get the bulk discount, the items have to be shipped to our physical address, instead of the usual way which is right to the customer. They've been drilling this wonderful bulk discount save the company money thing into my head for the last month, and today I find out about the shipping deal.
:goofy: :goofy: :goofy: :goofy: :goofy: :goofy: :goofy: :goofy: :goofy: I had them send the bulk stuff directly to the sales guy here that kept singing the praises of this deal, let him sort it out.
Well.. I forgot to turn on the open sign, and the oven, so my first order, which should have taken 10 minutes, took 35.. I know its not that big of a deal, but I just get frustrated with myself when I forget to do things that I normally do every Mon - Fri of my life.
I was just denied payment for a Spanish class here at work. I manage 60+ Spanish employees and can only talk a little of their language. Like it or not, this is our culture and they aren't going to learn English anytime soon. Either that or the next time we have an opening I'm going to require that they need to know English and then see how long it takes for them to find me someone. :eyeroll:
well, I am going to mexico, for international convention, and aside from me (the english speaking judge) the other 5 judges are spanish speakers (they speak/read some english - quite well, actually) but per the guidelines, I need to submit everything in both languages.
and it's not things like - how are you?
it's thinks like.. Does the web page note the clubs meeting times, frequency, location and directions? Si, be calendario, haciendo clic en el articulo, el articulo ligarla a una pagina que muestra la ubicacion y las direcciones.
so basically, stuff I never ever ever actually talk about, in spanish. and online translators only get you so far.
luckily, most of the 'proof' attachments are photos, and photos have that great universal language.
I've got a spanish-english dictionary you can use, if you want it... (courtesy of Johnson Sr. Highschool)....
Its really not that hard to learn.... I took 8-9 years worth of it, in my 4 years of highschool....
just remember the phrase "como se dice"
It means "how do you say"... most times, if you dont know how to say a word or phrase, just ask that... i've found that most people are eager to teach you their language...
Hmong is another language thats easy, once you start to pick it up, too....
I have all the books and CDs but thought it would be nice to try a class where I was dedicated to attend. I get through the 2nd CD and end up putting in some Slayer or something. Maybe I can find a Slayer CD that's recorded in Spanish. :ooh:
