I think the "killing it" reference in Clue 7 fits Central.  Just west of Victoria there are two parking lots - one of which is very near a volleyball court.  The reference may fit Como too.  Trying to remember if there are any courts adjacent to parking lots in the picnic grounds area...

If you want to go down a deep rabbit hole, T Eugene Thompson, the famous attorney who had his wife killed lived on Hillcrest Ave. in Highland Park. He went to prison, got out, and moved to a condo in Roseville. No......it wasn't by Central Park, it was on Midland Grove Road over by Co B and Cleveland.  Sorry for the rabbit hole.  Yeesh.........

I cant let it go... yet - lol.

There is story of Fred Barker killing a man at (or near) Como Park. Barker was transferring into a getaway car he had parked at Como Park and killed a man who looked at him. One article I read seemed to indicate it was in the actual park, otherwise it is more vague but was definitely on Midway Parkway.

I also felt Phalen had some interesting areas that fit. I wondered if Chin was short for Chinese. Phalen has that Oriental monument on the northern side. It also is part of a chain of lakes..

Fox 9 was at Battle Creek today. Does that mean it is there or has history proved to us that when the news shows up in the park, it is the kiss of death (it is not there)?

I agree with the big star and have been rather hung up on that but have decided to let it go lol.
I believe one of his cabins was located in what is now the Xcel Energy parking lot.

Clue 7 is tripping me up for Phalen. I feel the clue implies this person was born with a big name that would take him far - Phalen doesn't fit that. He also wouldn't kill it down where they park the car - assuming they are talking about him killing his buddy. There were no cars when Phalen was around.

I want to mention both Central Park and Como have Churchhill Streets on both of their parks. Como has at least 3 arched bridges. I would think they have lights on them. It also has hills galore. I know because I dug at most of them. I did not make it to Central. I spent 3 days at Como till I had the smash and grab incident Saturday at the Pavilion. My window will not be fixed till next week so my hunting is over. I wish all the best for everyone in this group. I still think it is at Como and there is a lot of snow that was not touched. This has been a brainteaser of a hunt for everyone!

Did anyone else think of McDonald's when you read "arched light?" I happened across one not too far from Phalen today - very near the BCA.  But I'm probably just craving a Filet O' Fish.

Until the 1973 finders came to light, I thought "rake" was a rhyme for Jake.  Now I'm wondering if it means that the puck is not buried deeply or in a very icy spot and could be uncovered with the sweep of rake.  IDK.  Probably a reach.

I was just watching a history of the St Paul Winter Carnival that recently aired on TPT TV.  In this production St Paul was referred to as "a city on seven hills."  Many cities make this claim.  Rome, Italy is the OG.  Anyway, I'm thinking the anagram might be saying "it's in St. Paul." It also may well literally be on a hill.
Or it could be in a park on one of the official hills of St Paul.  I could find only an incomplete list of the 7 hills of St Paul on Wikipedia.
  • Cathedral Hill
  • Capitol Hill
  • Dayton's Bluff
  • Crocus Hill (aka St Clair)
  • Williams Hill (no longer exists)

Hoyt also seems to be a big name in archery so maybe that is what setting your sights is all about?

Churchill could indeed be the hill if Como or Central fit clues 7 & 8, but I don't think they do. I think they're talking about an actual hill given all the looking up and looking around references.

Wouldn't Churchill St fit the hill for central and Como?

Heeeelp

I have been on the como train for most of the hunt.  Been out there hunting a number of times by the torpedo and it just felt right. Prattle was the ball in the hole for me.

Then Clue 7 comes out and I can't think of any bad guy liar except Edward Phalen.  But I am not feeling it for Phalen

Then Clue 8 comes out and I am definitely Up north with Central. Seems like as obvious as can be it's about Jake and the second hunt.  I can't think of a better explanation.

My problem is the hill.  Where is the hill.  So many hill references.  Can't find a hill or a connection to James J Hill or any thing hilly.   There are lots of piles of snow near the parking lots and roads.

They have made soooooo many hill references.  It fits great with Como. I dug over by the glorious sledding hill.

Is there anyone thinking Central and if so how does hill fit in?
