Good Morning!

Artemis - too many cloud like things north of here. From reports this morning, I should have headed east. Several places in Wisconsin had sightings. Also Indiana, Michigan, North Dakota, Washington State - all had clearer skies. There was one Minnesota sighting in the far southwestern corner of the state.

There is hope though as another round is predicted for later today into tomorrow. All depends on the arrival of the next CME that is enroute towards the earth.

Of course I also heard that we're in for thunder storms again tonight. That means clouds. Clouds are not friendly for aurora viewing.

Better keep breezing through here. Work, work, work.

Have a way cooler day everyone!

I'll work REALLY hard to blow any clouds away,(I have enough hot air...)Terry, When was the last time the lights were this strong so far south? I remember back in the early 80's you could see them in Coon Rapids as if you were up in Ely.

Good Evening! Turned out to be gorgeous, didn't it? This is my Friday - and I'm hope so this is Yippeeeeee time!!!!

KT - We have had several times when aurora has been strong in the past couple of years. In fact, some has been so strong that folks in Texas, California, etc. got a chance to see it.

Tomorrow night is now the prediction for the next chance. KT - You keep blowing those clouds out of here. We'll be north by nightfall tomorrow. I can hardly wait! It's so nice to see aurora from the front yard. When we're in the cities, I usually drive about 45 minutes north to get under dark skies.

Another gorgeous day!

Waiting for Marley to get home from work, we're supposed to take a couple vw's up north on the flatbed tonight, and possibly again tomorrow night. We'll keep an eye on the sky!

Hello!!!! I am here to let you know that one of the coolest inventions is the foodsaver 350 I went to wal*mart today, and got one. I think everyone should have one...Standard issue, 40 acres, a mule,a gerber tool, and a vaccum sealer. That's all! Hope it's clear tonight!!!!!MCD's &FJK's to all!!!!

leatherman, kt. the tool of choice is a leatherman.

and what's fjk's?

Ares! ...so busted!!! I agree, the leatherman IS the tool. I have NO idea what came over me. I also ommitted a pair of "Plainsman" gloves. They also should be standard issue. Of anyone else has additions to what should be "standard issue" please use this forum to make it be known. All on this planet could use input.

hey, its what we used to open hot dog packages at the bonfire. admittedly, after scoring shedloads of sheetrock, mine needs sharpening, as we also found out that nite, but i still prefer it to anything else!

Ares... as far as the initials I used, they mean so little. I've done it so many times before, to no avail. You can make stuff up, or not, like "Funky Jewish Kitchens", or furry junkie kitties, or feverish Jamacian Koalas... But, I DO wish all MCL!!! See Ya! ( Igottago vaccum seal something!) KT

Three hours and counting of the most spectacular aurora dance!! Rays, curtains, pulsating lights ALL over the skies. Lots of activity, mostly white sparkly dancing. Everyone of these displays is unique...and I love them all!

Artemis and Marley - If you are north, I hope you're watching this.

We came in to warm up....it's cold out there!

Gol, Terry! I would deal with a bit of cold to see "the lights" I'm a Minnesotan, I have polar fleece. I have yet to see the planets even! :( ...and from the sounds of things right now, me thinks I need to replace my dishwasher....homeownerdom... never boring... Hope all is well with everyone! MCL!!!

evenin' heads. just got word this morning that my great-grandfather of some 98 years passed away this morning. no one in the family is actually sure of his age, except that he presumably had his headstone made several years ago when my great-grandmother passed, that says 1904. and despite it sounding cold, i find it difficult to not thank god that his time has finally come, given that he's spent the last 5 years, probably more, of his life semi-comatose, though very much not dependent on life support of any kind.

marley, i didn't see you at raceway park today, but wow, you missed one helluva race! snow flying, but ironically, not too much damage was done anywhere. well, there was the car that was turned into an accordian, and the driver had to be pulled from it by the ambulance crew, but he was otherwise ok. our yellow 96 car actually finished the race, although its almost back to its original brown color! apparently the latex house paint we used didn't quite cure properly :)

well, folks, if i'm not on during the day this week, its cuz i'm taking a class in eagan for work. and i don't know how well their firewall will keep me in. from what i hear, i can't get access to aol im (we'll just have to see about that, now :) and i dunno what else is blocked.

Ares, I think that if one's headstone has a DOB of ANYTHING stating nineteen-oh-something, That's a good, long-ass time to be on this earth. My parents are only 20 years younger than your Great-Granddaddy! I was thinking about age today, and wondered if there was ever a generation that hasn't been faced with a war.(of one kind, or another...)Does anyone know???

Sun, 04/21/2002 - 8:46 PM Permalink
ares

i don't think so, kt. at least not in the history of the us anyway.

the worst part about the whole thing is that i've had a hell of a time getting myself not pulled out of this class from at work. and because of that i'm not going to be at the funeral on wednesday. there comes a point when you have to put your best interests before someone else's. that's advice that if i'd followed it when i gave it out almost a year ago, i wouldn't have all the girl "problems" i've vented to you all about over this last year. incidentally, for those not in the know, she's been told how i felt (and still feel for that matter) about her. admittedly, leaving that message on her voicemail was far from the best way to go about doing it, but i was down to it being my last resort.

We've been without internet access for a couple days, #@$%^*& MSN.

Ares, forgot about the race, glad to hear you guys finished! We had a First Communion to attend.

Marley got to see the auroras friday night. He drove up the flatbed with a guy from work who'd never seen them before. He said they saw them from Hinkley on, but when they got up north it was incredible. His friend said they made him nervous. lol

well It's finally almost here. we bring the camper up north on thursday, it figures that it would snow and get cold when the time finally comes! stupid mother nature! I think she must be going through menopause or something! anyway, we will be gone most of the summer so I won't be on much, will probably be leaving wednesday nights most of the time and not coming back untill sunday night, I'll check in with you all during the day on wednesday's just to keep in touch! ares, sorry to hear of your grandfather, I'm sure he lived a great life and of course saw more than any of us ever will in our lifetime! I know my grandmother alway's has some pretty interesting stories to tell. she is full italian and grew up over on payne avenue by swede hollow. she also makes the best spagetti in town! well off to work! talk to you all soon!

The drive, and the line at the new Krispy Kreme is too long. ...However, I just may have to make a trip up north and stop by...contrary to how I look, I do NOT like doughnuts, but my hubby does.(I hate the fact that he can eat ANYTHING and never gain a pound, and curses to any of you who are like that...)I would, however like to use this forum to tell you that the "new" FM radio station 105, is pretty good, I have yet to hear the same song played twice, and they're pretty brave as to the stuff they play. I am not getting paid to say this, but music can be what makes or breaks my day. :) I lay in wait for the day I can go see planets in a line,or the Borealis do it's thing...been too cloudy, and lit up here. Good Evening!

Been so busy in my life the past couple of days, I've hardly had time for internet time.

I'm glad Marley got to see the aurora - and that a newbie has too. They were so awesome that night!

Ares - Sorry to read of your great grandfather's passing. I'm sure he's enriched your life. It's what grandparents do while sharing stories and telling tales.

Time for me to shut down here and get some shut eye. Another couple of busy days ahead and then it will be Finally Friday...and I have the day off!!!

Goodnight, SCDs and MCL!!

Well if the weather is going to be iffy, bowling may not be a bad thing. Might not even need to be on a weekend if people's schedules are getting busy. I know my weekends in May are filling up. Would anyone be interested in a weeknight activity?

I have a LITTLEbit of pull at Wallaby's Lanes in Hilltop (Columbia Heights). I should be able to get a decent discount. It's about a mile off 694 on Central Avenue (HWY 65).

BTW, the offer still stands for camping (or visiting) at Cleary Lake on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. We always have a huge bonfire, and the campfire pies are yummy.

Bowling could be fun. Some weeknights could work for us - depending on the week...but otherwise we can catch you all for the next event.

Good Morning!

Artemis - there sure could have been but we were socked in with clouds up where we were. It wouldn't have been a huge display, but perhaps what they call a substorm. The indicators were higher than usual but not at higher storm levels.

This is my Monday. UGH! See yaz all later!
