looking forward to it though. It'll be a fun reunion. I'm also looking forward to not feeling like I'm dealing with finances, planning, and all the other headaches one goes through when they get married @ 30.

With the Stanley Cup playoffs and NBA postseason in full swing, Page 2 decided to look back at some of the worst team champions.
1997 Florida Marlins
1995 Houston Rockets
1906 Chicago White Sox
1987 Minnesota Twins
The Twins finished the regular season with an 85-77 record, and they were lucky to do so -- during the season, opponents outscored the Twins by 20 runs, and statheads will tell you that without luck, the Twins would have been 79-83. Bert Blyleven and Frank Viola were good starting pitchers, but after that came Les Straker and Mike Smithson and pray for something. Still, they managed to beat the heavily favored Tigers in five games for the AL pennant, then rode Viola's arm and a monstrous home-field advantage (all four wins came in the Metrodome) to a seven-game victory over the Cards in the World Series.
paul molitor...stay in minneapolis...to keep his kids away from mlb...now *THAT'S* funny!
NEW YORK -- Major league baseball attendance dropped slightly from last year in the fifth week of the season and the average is 5 percent below 2001.
The average attendance for the 30 major league teams was 26,626 through the first 453 dates of the season, down 5 percent from 28,013 through a similar period last year. The average was down 3.4 percent after three weeks and 4.9 percent after four weeks.
Seventeen teams have seen declines, led by the Milwaukee Brewers -- the team owned by commissioner Bud Selig -- who are down 149,670 for 16 home games.
not this one. you forget: tried & true, gold & blue--i'm all about the irish. super joe, chicken soup, and the green jerseys.
I'm sure you, Blade, Dog, and the others know who was responsible for killing his dog back then.
yup, sure do. it was his neighbor(s). hype from the national media, packer fans disliking devine, and other teams' fans disliking the pack fueled a half-truth. devine knew he was outski, so he never did anything to correct the story. the papers in south bend never even brought it up. dog, blade and myself knew the truth all along.
During Dan Devine’s time with the Green Bay Packers, one of his dogs was shot to death by a farmer who lived near Devine’s home in the town of Hobart. For years, it was believed the dog was shot by a Packers fan angry at Devine because of how poorly the Packers were playing. Truth be told, the dog was shot because it was either disturbing the farmer’s plow horses or killing his chickens or both. "It had nothing to do with who Dan Devine was," Packers President Bob Harlan said Thursday. Devine, who died Thursday at 77, later said the dog was shot accidentally. At the time, though, he did nothing to squelch the rumor that the dog was killed by an angry fan. "The local version differs so much from the national version," said former Press-Gazette sportswriter and columnist Don Langenkamp. "Devine did nothing about it." "That left a black mark on him."
The story noted that one of Devine's dogs had been killed two years earlier and suggested that the shooting was connected to his troubles as coach. Neighboring farmers, on the other hand, claimed that Devine owned several dogs that were frequently running loose and causing problems on other people's property and that he had been warned to do something about it on several occasions.

or 250,000 bitter vikings fans willing to believe it....
Minnesota's streak as ``most livable'' state continues.
For the sixth year in a row, Minnesota has been named the nation's most livable state by a Kansas-based publishing and research company.
Morgan Quitno Press of Lawrence ranks states on 43 factors, including economy, education, health, public safety and environment.
Minnesota was cited for its low teen birth rate, high home-ownership rate, very good high school graduation rate and high spending for the arts.
The only category that Minnesota ranked poorly in was temperature.
Iowa was ranked second in the 2002 most livable states list, followed by New Hampshire, Virginia and Massachusetts. --------------------------------------------------

Damn, I hope they beat Denver!! I was unsure what I wanted today. A green bay loss or just simply a KC lost to spoil their undeafted record....any thoughts or perhaps votes? :) Favre says "Good teams like us are not suppose to lose games like this" WTF!?! 3-3 is a .500 team. 5-0 is perfection :)
There is only ever one thought I have about GB. Do you remember who you cheered for when they went to the Superbowl? Think about it.
I don't care who they're playing or what the circumstances are (except if a GB win means we make the play-offs) I will never, ever root for a team so vile and arrogant. I actually picked them to beat the Bears on the Monday night game. It was the first time ever that I picked them for anything on our Yahoo Pro Football Pick 'em board. I did get the win but I felt really dirty and disgusting doing so. I've went back to my old strategy by never picking them again. The possible win just isn't worth the gamble. Especially when it means that I need to take a long shower afterwards.
;-)
Here's a link for those of you who feel the same way that I do.
I did have a sick feeling in my stomach ever since I said that :( by the way....where are all those "loyal" packer fans that have been trashing the Vikes at the start of the season??? I still wanna rub it in alittle. :)
The NFL announced today that for financial reasons, they had to eliminate one team from the league. So they've decided to combine the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and form one team, therefore saving jobs. They will be known as the TAMPACKS. They say this board is tumbleweeds. Somewhat true, but it ain't like that other ghetto board is flying....
sucks big time, it does.
tell fears to get back here on the VIKES DISCUSSION board.

Machias,
Dan Devine is gandhi.
Is Green Bay celebrating in the streets even though he won the Central Division in 1972 with a 10-4 record?
Being a Packer fan, I'm sure you, Blade, Dog, and the others know who was responsible for killing his dog back then.
Isn't it time to fess up...maybe clear your conscience?
Is Green Bay celebrating in the streets...

Devine’s dead dog? Here’s the real story
"Devine did nothing about it."
"That left a black mark on him."
A lasting impression
The story noted that one of Devine's dogs had been killed two years earlier and suggested that the shooting was connected to his troubles as coach.
Neighboring farmers, on the other hand, claimed that Devine owned several dogs that were frequently running loose and causing problems on other people's property and that he had been warned to do something about it on several occasions.
Devine and his dog, both dead. end of story.
riiiiiiight his dog was on a farmer's property...just ask the farmer. Like their isn't 50,000 PACKER RUBES dying to back up that bogus story.
Truth hurts. Pack fans can't control their WIFE BEATING, DRUNKEN SUNDAY RAGE and had his dog killed cuz his success as a coach started fading.
And in Notre Dame, what did he do?
Win a National Championship, Play RUDY, and got run outta town.
IRISH-PACKER FANS.
NOW THAT is one ugly COMBO.
LOL!
Win a National Championship, Play RUDY, and got run outta town.
Like their isn't 50,000 PACKER RUBES dying to back up that bogus story.

So you don't always feel this way ;)

It wasn't the good kind of dirty that I felt. And it was a shower in boiling acid if you really need to know.
um, acid? ;)
and you didn't invite us?
you wouldn't know what to do with 'cid, j.
I would need to be on a few hits of acid to ever pick those GB assholes again.
The Good Ol' Daze
