Now that the excitement of the Mock Hunt has faded a bit, I wonder if people have recovered enough to start thinking of another hunt. I actually had an idea strike me today...
Bring it on AW. All ideas welcome. We've been doing a little thing between a few of us with cameras (preferably digital) where one of us takes a picture of something obscure but obvious. The others have to find the place and take a picture of it from the same angle as the original to prove it. Clues follow if not found with visual first. The finder is the next photographer. It would be kinda cool to expand to a larger area.
oh, and aw, bring on another hunt!!! i'm willing. given the lack of snow cover (though from what i heard paul douglas say the other nite, anything really is possible), it ought to be really interesting.
When has lack of snow cover stopped me before? All I need is to find me some brush! hehe. Though if I do another hunt, I'm thinking it will be a different format.
What I'd like to do I think is make a hunt where you get all the clues up front, like 20-24 of them. Each clue is likely to lead you to a different park, or at least different zones of different parks. And each clue would have a single answer that you would enter into an answer sheet. The answer sheet would then direct you to place each letter into a grid in a certain spot. Once you get the grid filled, it will spell out a final clue that will lead you to the treasure.
actually, cm, that sounds pretty cool too. feel free to count me in on your distribution (or if you want to do it online right here, i'll set up a thread for it)
Hi all, Sorry I haven't been checking back very often. Summer ya know. 90 & sunny today. OK by me. Lotsa outside stuff going on. "Do it while you can" (famous MN quote)
We've added a new thing to our photo hunt that includes possible angles from spots that aren't just public areas but also privite areas still accessable by the public for a fee not more than $5.00. For example, the last shot was taken of downtown St. Paul from one of United hospitals parking ramps. I tried 3 of them until I found the right one taken from the right level. BIG 'W' baby! Kinda cool. $1.75 total for all 3 ramps. It adds that "how'd they get there" effect. Some of the obscure shots were getting a bit 'obscure' if ya know what I mean. No wild stuff but just some pretty out-of-the-way items of focus. We felt it better to go with some obvious focal points but obscure angles. No climbing or anything physical except walking if necessary. This particular pix was taken while standing next to my car.
Wow! ATH! You're kicking it at 3:17 AM (CST) on the last day of May. Good to hear from an ol' winter pal.
AW - Are you referring to something like the Fitgers hunt? Cool idea. Let 'er rip pal. I'm all over it. It sounds like a few others will jump on board as well. Maybe post a start date into the future here along with your E-mail list to get things started.
I was just down the road from you at Wild Tymes. Just got back myself. Burp. ooops. Still 70 degrees out! Not bad. Fellow vampire myself. Have been for a long time now. Wouldn't change it for the world. No lines, everybody caters to you during the day. No bugs. Only limited by your start time. Days like this you just wake up earlier. I've been up for almost 24 hours now. (woke up at 4:30am yesterday) Got tons of shit done. Relax today. Gettin ready 4 the weekend. I think I'll go on the deck and have a quick one. Talk to ya soon ATH. Say hi to MK 4 me.
Hi Clue Master-nice to see you. I'm in-just need details of what to do and when.
And ATH - funny-when I first saw the initials I thought 'Atilla the Hun' since that was one of this weeks discussions and then realized it was for you :)
and ATH's warm summer nights... I think those are words for a song in the Karoke thread :)
I happened to go out to Phalen today and I went to the spot where the Mock Hunt treasure was hidden. Personally I don't think that brush looks any worse for wear and it still looks like just a bunch of weeds and wildflowers to me.
i've been by it several times since the hunt and i'd have to agree with that statement. now what i'm curious about is the pile of plants that me2 and i dug out over by the beach house.
gimme another year and i might actually get ambitious enough to apply for the masters degree program at the u. then it'll be me3 or are we up to me4 or me5 if you include me2 in there?
not this time.
you deserved it...you needed IT ;)
but I am dissapointed :( that was exilerating to say the least ;)
gee. thanks for the vote of confidence.
it was tiring, wasn't it? someone gimme a cigarette, and don't laugh when i start coughing. :)
I have to go...it was nice knowing you... :)
I am yet still 'but an empty shell' hahahaha
it was nice knowing you
<snerk> we can fix the empty shell problem. we got another one of these to work towards elsewhere.
I feel like such a voyeur.

yes...yes...yes...almost there...
Is this the Mock Hunt or the Spice Channel?
the mock hunt of course, silly. you sick sick person you.

OMG you two! I hope this isn't a pay site! hmmmmm...where is that husband of mine......;)

OK, first of all-we were just practicing our digging & competition skills :) always so close but never get it!
AW & CM - Very Cool- I'm in! Let me know if I can do anything.
Also note, I talked to Jake yesterday and he wanted me to let everyone know the Medallionators Hunt 2002 will be next month...date to come soon.

Still any takers? ares, Me2?
Hi Clue Master, good to see ya!
Interesting game! All I could tell from the picture is that its looking east at st paul. Marley is better at that kind of thing than I am.

I'm always up late, I'm by nature a night person, but I try to tame it down a little in the summer so I can enjoy the weather.
I went to play some pool tonight with my cousin, and then to Mancini's for a couple drinks, and I am a little wound up right now.

I agree about the night life. I love warm summer nights like tonight!
Have a good one CM!
Double post! F-in refresh button. I go away for a bit and my memory fades pretty quick.
i'll bite, cm. was the pic you posted one that was supposed to be found? (and like i said upthread, add me to your list. i'd love to play too)

When I drove by there myself it looks like a larger area than in the winter. oh, how perceptions change.
I'm going to agree that the hiding spot suffered no lasting damage. I haven't checked over by the beachhouse, however...
is it just me, or does it sound like there's an implication or something in there? :)
Take it however you will. :)
ya oughtta know how i'm gonna take it :)
Yep, I know. Belives me, I knows.
i dunno whether me2 and i should take that as a compliment or an insult. :)
:)
Well Frosti, I don't take too much as insults, pretty easy going-----so thanks, I think :)
How is your sweetie? We havn't seen her around here!
She's good. School just ended for her on Monday, so she's been pretty busy. But she's only got one more semester until graduation. Yaay!
Cool! She and Scribe have something to talk about-semesters & finals!
Me too! (pardon the expression) Except my semester ended way back in April.
gimme another year and i might actually get ambitious enough to apply for the masters degree program at the u. then it'll be me3 or are we up to me4 or me5 if you include me2 in there?
I've become old news! Sniff sniff
Poor Poor Wabbit :-(
I've become old news! Sniff sniff
No, you're not old news, but the 2002 Allison Wonderland Moch Hunt has.
I'm sure there will be a 2003 A.W.M.H. thread in the future.
So this thread will stay online? We can visit the rabbit in the nursing home? so he is still active enough to not be dead? ;) if you know what I mean.
I see the King and Michael are not 'sent up the river' yet.
The King isn't dead yet! but you can crash MS! :)
The hunt may be over. The thread may be retired. But the images of Phalen are forever burned into the minds of those who participated.
Mwah ha ha ha ha.
no kidding
bow your heads with a moment of silence please. :(
::sniff sniff::
