ok. those of you who are between thx's age and my age, chime in and let us know if you know what constitutes a hoopty. i was just thinking about some of those cars i've seen all decked out with their hydraulics bouncing up and down, a la kids' mystery machine.

Must be a regional thing. I grew up here, but over in White Bear Lake. I don't believe this term was used in my school.

I figured out what a hoopty was from Ares' posts. A few weeks ago, my 15 year o;d was talking to some friends and he said hoopty. So it's still out there.

i affectionately call my winter beater, er, car, the hoopty.

Ares- I thought it was tag worth, it made me laugh!

Acording to Marley there are 2 kinds of hooptys, your average beater car (the original meaning), and the souped up low-riders (more recent)

well you missed my previous tag which quoted me2 as saying "i am attila the hun" :)

as for hooptys, i was just picturing kids' mystery machine as one of those that you occasionally see on tv with so much bass playing that the car literally bounces on its own.

So, is hoopty a good thing or a bad thing?

well, when i'm not affectionately referring to it, my hoopty is the "piece of sh*t car"

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Those with the Cooler Crew may remember Lisa's Mommy. She was new to the Cooler Crew this year. On PF here, I believe her name is Thisisjl. Anyways, to the good news! Last night at 1:40 a.m., she delivered a little girl named Amy Michelle. She was 8 lbs, 8 oz, and was 20 1/2". Both mother and daughter are doing fine.

As a sidenote, I want to attest to how mommy is addicted to the net. We were talking last night about her delivering. The thing is, she was at the hospital, IMing me from her laptop while in the hospital bed. We didn't talk long, and she had to pause once for a contraction. Now that's what I call being addicted to the internet..

kids was the only one who got number 5 right. the question isn't really asking how far it will move in an hour, its a hypothetical, asking that if it moves 1/60 of a degree a minute, how many degrees will it move in an hour. since there are 60 minutes in an hour, 60 minutes x 1/60 degree per minute = 1 degree.

But he chose green bricks-so we are equally intelligent :)

Yeah, of course I chose green bricks. Yes, a greenhouse is made of glass. But I didn't know that green houses were made of glasses. I noticed the space between the words. That's why I didn't say glass.

ok Kids, technically any house can be made from any material and this riddle states that those certain homes were made of bricks but that didn't mean that the green house was made of the same material.

Of course houses can be made out of any material. I'm sure you could make a house out of green m & m's. I was just following the pattern. I know there was the choice of choosing glass because of the term "green house", but I chose not to take that option because of the space placed between the words.

ok. if that's how you want to be, i've seen greenhouses made of metal pipe with plastic wrapped around them.

we may have to get the judges in on this one to determine if the space was supposed to be there. ian???

When I look it up in the dictionary, I see just "greenhouse". I would think "greenhouse" is for a glass structure used to house plants, while a "green house" is a house of green color. Have to have some way to distinguish them I think.
