ok. those of you who are between thx's age and my age, chime in and let us know if you know what constitutes a hoopty. i was just thinking about some of those cars i've seen all decked out with their hydraulics bouncing up and down, a la kids' mystery machine.
I figured out what a hoopty was from Ares' posts. A few weeks ago, my 15 year o;d was talking to some friends and he said hoopty. So it's still out there.
well you missed my previous tag which quoted me2 as saying "i am attila the hun" :)
as for hooptys, i was just picturing kids' mystery machine as one of those that you occasionally see on tv with so much bass playing that the car literally bounces on its own.

Those with the Cooler Crew may remember Lisa's Mommy. She was new to the Cooler Crew this year. On PF here, I believe her name is Thisisjl. Anyways, to the good news! Last night at 1:40 a.m., she delivered a little girl named Amy Michelle. She was 8 lbs, 8 oz, and was 20 1/2". Both mother and daughter are doing fine.
As a sidenote, I want to attest to how mommy is addicted to the net. We were talking last night about her delivering. The thing is, she was at the hospital, IMing me from her laptop while in the hospital bed. We didn't talk long, and she had to pause once for a contraction. Now that's what I call being addicted to the internet..
i was actually surprised when kids was telling me about it last nite that they'd let the computer into the room. after all, they don't allow cell phones to be turned on.

Q6) **WITHOUT USING A CALCULATOR** YOU ARE DRIVING A BUS FROM LONDON TO MILFORD HAVEN (WALES). IN LONDON 17 PEOPLE GET ON THE BUS, IN READING 6 PEOPLE GET OFF, 9 PEOPLE GET ON, IN SWINDON 2 PEOPLE GET OFF, 4 PEOPLE GET ON, IN CARDIFF 11 PEOPLE GET OFF, 16 PEOPLE GET ON, IN SWANSEA 3 PEOPLE GET OFF, 5 PEOPLE GET ON, IN CARMARTHEN, 6 PEOPLE GET OFF, 3 PEOPLE GET ON THE BUS THEN PULLS INTO MILFORD HAVEN BUS DEPOT.....
1.Bread 2. s-i-l-k Water 3. glass 4. don't bury surviviurs 5. 60 sounds right, but I want to say 5- isn't it the minute hand that does 1/60th degree per minute 6.
<your name here>
Here's my responses: 1) Bread 2) s-i-l-k, water 3) green bricks 4) You don't bury survivors 5) one degree 6) ThoseMedallingKids! (and maybe it's not a bus, but a mystery machine?)
1- Bread 2- s i l k silk water 3- glass (my husband works in a greenhouse everyday) 4- geesh, you don't bury survivors (or do you?-your sick) 5. 360 devided by 12 = 30 -so the HOUR HAND moves 30 degrees every hour 6- Me2 is driving the bus - always wanted to be a crazy bus driver :) ...-wanna ride?
kids was the only one who got number 5 right. the question isn't really asking how far it will move in an hour, its a hypothetical, asking that if it moves 1/60 of a degree a minute, how many degrees will it move in an hour. since there are 60 minutes in an hour, 60 minutes x 1/60 degree per minute = 1 degree.
AND if you drive on my bus (GREEN Durango) I will take you on some 360's :)
ok. lets not do that. at least not until she can guarantee us that those 360s won't result with a bus with the roof on the ground and the wheels in the air. yes that is meant as a dig. i've seen how you drive :)
Yeah, of course I chose green bricks. Yes, a greenhouse is made of glass. But I didn't know that green houses were made of glasses. I noticed the space between the words. That's why I didn't say glass.
ok Kids, technically any house can be made from any material and this riddle states that those certain homes were made of bricks but that didn't mean that the green house was made of the same material.
Of course houses can be made out of any material. I'm sure you could make a house out of green m & m's. I was just following the pattern. I know there was the choice of choosing glass because of the term "green house", but I chose not to take that option because of the space placed between the words.
When I look it up in the dictionary, I see just "greenhouse". I would think "greenhouse" is for a glass structure used to house plants, while a "green house" is a house of green color. Have to have some way to distinguish them I think.

<...I think I'm older than all of you posting today>>>
'Cept me, and I never heard of a hoopty either.
I've never heard of a hoopty and I'm OLD!
ok. those of you who are between thx's age and my age, chime in and let us know if you know what constitutes a hoopty. i was just thinking about some of those cars i've seen all decked out with their hydraulics bouncing up and down, a la kids' mystery machine.
She then informed me that I am old.
Ha-ha!
</Nelson>
I have no idea what a hoopty is.
Frosti, how can YOU not know what a hoopty is?
You're old, just like me.
Mark (my HONEY) turns 40 today
i'm younger than all of y'all and i know what a hoopty is. (i drive one in the winter).
happy birthday to mark.
Must be a regional thing. I grew up here, but over in White Bear Lake. I don't believe this term was used in my school.
And yes, I am old like you.
see, that's why i called it a "ghetto hoopty".
Happy Birthday to Mark, Happy Birthday to Mark... Okay, I'll stop with that. That's my present. No singing.
there's a thread for that, ya know.
Joe :)
COOL :)
That sounds like a theme...I love SNOOPY 8)
No Lucy here!
please tell me you didn't keep me waiting all day for "no lucy here".
we know all about d'hooptys! I've never pd more than $1000 for a vehicle (and that was a school bus)
Happy 40th to Mark!
I figured out what a hoopty was from Ares' posts. A few weeks ago, my 15 year o;d was talking to some friends and he said hoopty. So it's still out there.
given up searching, artemis? :)
i affectionately call my winter beater, er, car, the hoopty.
Ares- I thought it was tag worth, it made me laugh!
Acording to Marley there are 2 kinds of hooptys, your average beater car (the original meaning), and the souped up low-riders (more recent)
well you missed my previous tag which quoted me2 as saying "i am attila the hun" :)
as for hooptys, i was just picturing kids' mystery machine as one of those that you occasionally see on tv with so much bass playing that the car literally bounces on its own.
So, is hoopty a good thing or a bad thing?
well, when i'm not affectionately referring to it, my hoopty is the "piece of sh*t car"

ok. if that's how you want to be, i've seen greenhouses made of metal pipe with plastic wrapped around them.
we may have to get the judges in on this one to determine if the space was supposed to be there. ian???

greenhouse/green house can be spelt both ways and mean the same thing
green house
greenhouse
we were solving riddles and do you:
A) follow the pattern
B) not get caught in the pattern and solve the riddle by answering the actual final question?
