Slow Lorises - Chunking Express loves em!

Fast Lorises - LUV2FLY will have nothing to do with those "Slow" Lorises.

What an adorable kitten! Does he have a name yet?

We agreed on David. As in King David. I name all my cats after Kings. Didn't intend to do that but, it sort of just worked that way and now it's tradition.

or are the kiddies (no pun intended) gonna name him?

Heck no! That's my job. :-)

The Naming of Your Cat by Silkius

Naming your cat is a most serious time
And choosing it wrongly considered a crime.
You may not consider this a serious matter,
But a badly named cat, can go mad as a hatter.
So please read these words before you start mocking,
And the 'Cat Name Police' come round and start knocking.

Imagine for a moment, that you're a big tom,
Who can't understand where his owner went wrong.
You go out for your nightly business and ramble,
When the cat from next door asks for your handle.
Do you shout out your name, with feeling and pride,
Or meekly squeak 'Tiddles' and then run and hide.

For a correctly named cat, can afford to walk tall,
Not cower in shame at the thought of its call.
Give its name thought, and consider your feelings,
For its you that calls them in, for the evenings.
So consider a moment as to whether you care.
When you're standing outside shouting 'Sonny' and 'Cher.'

Try something different when choosing a name.
For a cat who's called 'Snookie' will know whose to blame.
So dig out those books, from authors aplenty,
You'll find at least one, a dozen or twenty.
If after reading, you're still not too sure,
Maybe it's time for some more literature.

Try something Biblical, from Gideons or James,
Such as Samson, Delilah, Salomé or Kane.
Jacob or Lazarus, the list just goes on,
Like David, Goliath or King Solomon.
Testaments try both the old and the new,
Unless your cats Muslim or Orthodox Jew.

A good literary name, for your cats not a sin.
So try Fagin, Aphelia, or perhaps Gunga Din.
Viola or Shylock may suit their charm.
You could even try Xanadu or Kubla K'han
If Shakespeare or Dickens, wont suit them either
Try a different approach it may bring you nearer.

If your poetic puss meow seems to rhyme
Then Byron or Keats may suit this feline.
If classical music is something they've wished,
Then Mozart or Wagner or perhaps even Lizt.
Faust or Saint Saens may seem a little too hard,
Though they may suit your cat if it likes the macabre.

If a historical tyrant, reminds you of him
Then Napoleon, Nero, Ghengis or Ming
You may question those with despotic turns,
But surely only a cat, could watch while Rome burns.
But if chivalry seems close to their heart,
Then Gwain or Gwuinivere might do for a start.

If your cats demeana has a criminal flair,
You could use Moriarty, but you better beware!
For a cat who's names Raffles will be a great thief,
Call him McCavity and he'll defy all belief.
For cats with such names stealth becomes habit
and start stealing food, or dealing in cat-nip

So here's one word of warning, before you decide
On naming your feline Jekyll or Hyde.
A cat takes its name in spirit and word,
I know you may think this is really absurd,
But to a cat a name is an identity label,
To which it will form itself if it is able.

If after searching through closets and books
No name that you choose quite suits his looks.
And if after all this, you still haven't a clue,
There is still one more thing that you could do.
You could leave it simple and matter of fact,
And just call him Felidae, For he is, just a cat.

PS from me:

Mine is called Oliver, though not by me,
Though Oliver suits him right down to a 'T'
'Hey you, I want more', is his usual refrain,
And he always gets it, else we'd go insane

Our Oliver is quite an aristocat,
He's snobby and proud and quite awfully fat
He has his own chair where he curls up by day
But if someone else grabs it, he'll soon have his say

This cat among cats will not eat from a tin
If you offer him Whiskas he thinks it's a sin
His diet's raw steak or fresh chicken breast
For Oliver deigns to eat only the best

When he scratches the furniture, he's such a bore
But afraid to offend, we run from a war
And allow him to scag to his heart's content
The only solution's to move to a tent

He walks like John Wayne with a swaggering air,
And if we should laugh, he just throws us a stare
'How dare you insult me,' he seems to say
'I'll have my own back at the end of the day'.

At night when we sleep, he will turn up and mew
Waking us up but we know what to do
He jumps on the pillow and drives us apart
But I don't really mind cos he's stolen my heart

A person with fur is our Oliver dear
A moggie he's not, which by now should be clear
And we are his slaves just destined to please
For Oliver knows that he's quite the bees knees

Should Oliver turn up in human form
We'd end up wishing he'd never been born
His selfishness is beyond belief
And I still have the marks on my arm from his teeth

Yet every day we long for his purr
Spending hour upon hour just stroking his fur
When he's in the mood he will give us our due
So maybe, just maybe, he loves us too.

This thread is rigged. I demand a recount, I think that many people intended to vote for dogs, the ballot was confusing. Every vote should count, the voters are disenfranchised. I think I'll stay on this rant for 2 years or more and not let it go until dogs are in the lead !

If it's 12% of Alaska voting for cats, does that mean the other 88% is voting for dogs?

how 'bout the 12% overage of alaskan voters who demand that their votes for cats be counted as well?

Actually, closer inspection of those ballots indicated that the votes were for "bears".

Mon, 06/10/2002 - 1:04 PM Permalink

No, ares...that 100% that voted for cats voted for them as a snack for the bears.

The dog votes remain as tabulated.

that 100% that voted for cats voted for them as a snack for the bears.

Nevertheless, that is 100% of the votes for cats.

which looks like, lemme check again, 8. as opposed to the cat, who has 19. but since you mentioned it, the way i figure it is that a vote for a cat is a vote for a cat, even if it is gonna be a snack.

ya gotta admit though, when it comes to dogs versus cats (and we take into consideration that the siberian tiger is a really big cat), theres something to be said for a 300 pound pussy that eats you. :)

Under one of the end zones in Giants Stadium in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, rumor has it. The Meadowlands is across the Hudson River from NYC, in north Jersey, for the uninitiated.

Hoffa was totally mobbed up. He'd definitely have cast about 450 votes for dogs.
