Hi all -- I'm doing great, thanks for asking. Mr. Muskwa and I have been doing weekend day trips around the state. You know, all little towns look the same on maps, but there are some real gems that you just kinda run into. Texas has over 250 counties, probably because each county seat gets its own courthouse, and there was a rash of courthouse-building in the 19th century (there is at least one county in which the county seat is the ONLY town in the county!). You can read a bit about it it James Michener's novel TEXAS. The courthouses in Texas are some of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen, and you can usually spot the old jail nearby as well.
Some of the towns are pretty little garden spots and the people take great pride in them. Others are just hanging on. And there are a few ghost towns as well. We went to one place that is so small that all the houses are on one street, and the people obviously just live for their high school football team -- each end of the street has a big arch over it that says GO COUGARS!, and there are painted cougar paw marks all up and down the pavement. There is nothing else in the town except a gas station, the high school, and a radio station, oddly enough.
We've seen desert, pine woods, the gulf coast, acres of ranch land, and fields of corn and cotton that literally go beyond the horizon.

No way, they canned you for internet? Was that just an excuse to get rid of you to save money? I had a buddy that had the same thing happen. It's a bunch of B.S. Everything square now with a job? You doing ok?
