HEY GUYS YOU CAN SEE THE SAME THINGS FROM LINWOOD PARK AS YOU CAN SEE FROM CHEROKEE PARK. MAYBE THIS IS OUR SMALL PARK . ANYONE THINK IT MIGHT KELLOGG PARK? MAYBE WE WILL HAVE EITHER A INDIAN CLUE OR FOOD CLUE TONIGHT. ANYHOW HAVE A GREAT TIME AND GOOD LUCK!!!
nsp smoke stack IS visable from mounds. the whole damn city is visable from there! ******By the way did anyone know that the HIGHEST ground in St Paul is near Edgewater park at Hillcrest! Also, ROSE st goes right into it! Check it out man! Water and woods there. train tracks too. ******
Linwood is at Saint Clair and Pleasent Avenues in Mac-Grov. It's fits everthing but the sled clue. There is nowhere to slide there. And for all of you "rosebud" is just sledding, nothing else. Other strees around are Avon, Victoria, and Benhill. Hope that helps.
Just wanted you to know- I looked up "Cherokee" in the dictionary, and right below it is "CHEROKEE ROSE", an oriental rose with white flowers. By the way, 1st time, you can get the Guide at the Hungry Mind bookstore, off of Grand and Snelling, on Snelling.
LINWOOD PARK IS ON ST.CLAIR AND PLEASANT STRAIGHT ACROSS THE RIVER FROM CHEROKEE. WHERE ARE ALL THE OLD REGULARS?? THE CAMERAMAN,THE BLAZER BOYS THE HUNT JUST ISN'T THE SAME WITHOUT YOU !!!
Hey, all. I've had enough of this e-hunting from Milwaukee! I'm leaving in a few minutes. I've got a friend in the Cities with a laptop so I should be able to check back with the Water Cooler crew, but I should be physically out snooping around Mounds and other parks later tonight. If you spot me, say hello. I'll be wearing a black Vikings jacket with goldilocks on the back and a St. Paul Saints cap. I've had my fill of Packer clothes.
There are train tracks that go right through Cherokee Park, according to my map that I got from www.infoseek.com/ It also shows that Water St. W. borders Cherokee Park, too.
Wanderer... With all due respect, Get off your duff and hunt! Stop looking at the map. Cherokee Park is on a bluff. The tracks and Water street are no where near the park. If you want to get to the tracks or Water street its a short sled trip down a very steep hill.
I went by Cherokee last night. Zero people there. I'm sure that will change.
Went to Highland...Not a bad bet either. If it's at Highland, I probably covered it even more with my sporatic shoveling.
Hey Pocket, you don't mean the little grove with the drain pipes, do you? I went there briefly, but didn't see much of interest. If that's where you're going, good luck! There are a few benches along the bluffs that have been picked over pretty well already--but not completely picked over...
To all those idiots who say that there is no sliding hill at Mounds Park, I'd just like to say that you're dumb! I was there last night, and there is a medium-sized hill for sledding.
PG- sorry! I just thought I'd throw out a few ideas. I didn't know you had to be a genius to join this club. And Joe Medal- you can get the Guide at the Hungry Mind bookstore off of Grand and Snelling, on Snelling.
Wanderer- no need to be sorry. I agree with Cherokee but wanted to point out its height and encourage you to go there. Perhaps I too would have stopped there last night had any one else been digging there.
Well, Joe, I drove by there, and someone has been there looking already, although nobody was ther at the time (hour ago). There are also a lot of people at Prospect, but I agree that Prospect is too residential & too small.
Do think that it could be Irvine Park, It's surrounded by homes, and if you look to the north there's the Cathedral and the Civic center and to the souteast you have the river and railroad tracks. The NSP smokestack can be seen to the south, and as foar as the "rosebud" theroy, like everyone thinks it may be in a pasta box with the rose logo on it.
Am I being far fetched on this idea?
Don't forget the the large slope on both sides of the park, where kids do slide.
I used to go sledding at Cherokee all the time - the hills aren't HUGE, but there's a nice one down and to the side, where if you angled yourself just right, you could go into the drainage ditch.
go across the high bridge

I'm ba-ack!
Nobody knows about this one tucked away part of cherokee, all the clues are perfect-it damn well might be there

has anyone considered that wrong track may mean not a railroad track
I agree its in a small park or they would've told us where already

Create your own damn name, Joe Medal!
Look for a message from Itsinmypocket, now real soon.
Dan-I live right by Cherokee-I know that park like the back of my hand. I think more people are gonna realize that that's where it is.

I thought you knew, Wanderer!
1TH:No Im not talking about the tunnel, I mean down by the river by those binoculars.
This Pocket guy is a genius!
Pocket--but that's not on high ground...maybe it doesn't matter, since the rest of the park is.
thanks wanderer
has anyone else noticed that the past clues for both Cherokee and Mounds parks have refered to the "dome" of the Cathedral
Ok, Joe, we all know that either YOU are Pocket, or a coworker is...and yes, you're BOTH genuises...
Hey-if anyone here does actually find it, be sure to put your screen name in the Pioneer Press article so we can all know who proved our asses wrong!
Just thought I'd mention - to you geniuses out there - that if you put your back to the tracks and the smokestack, you're looking at Cherokee Park.
rosebud is the name of the sled from the movie Citizen Kane
Wanderer- no need to be sorry. I agree with Cherokee but wanted to point out its height and encourage you to go there. Perhaps I too would have stopped there last night had any one else been digging there.
About a million people have already said the same thing, hannah.
hannah- Cherokee is also a kind of rose.
Well, Joe, I drove by there, and someone has been there looking already, although nobody was ther at the time (hour ago). There are also a lot of people at Prospect, but I agree that Prospect is too residential & too small.
I'd like to back Pocket up. We are definitely working together. NOW STOPPING POINTING THAT OUT!
Would everybody that agrees that the med is at cherokee please push 1?

Why would you say that it's in a pasta box with a rose on it?
Why would the medallion be in a cardboard box that could get all wet and soggy?

Did you ever take a serious blow to the head on that ditch wanderer?
I agree with 1st time hunter!
Joe, YOU are my spell-checker. So THERE!
