Morning Ralph.

I like Hotel Coolerfornia (Although I hate that song and the Eagles) but, I think it would confuse people. Especially those that just started frequenting here.

yeah i know. it would have been one thing if we'd have done it from day onebut after 6 months being a refugee camp (which would be an alternative way cooler folder name), its a little late to be changing things like that. oh, the things that go on in this brain.

It's normal for me now too.

I used to be chauffeured to work but now that Scribe is starting school I decided to start taking the bus. It's easier for all involved. I get here a lot earlier when I don't have to wait around for her to get ready. :-)

so lemme see if i got this straight, ralph. scribe wakes up, spends an hour and a half in the bathroom, then took you to work? she had to have herself looking good in case she got pulled over or something?

no doubt there's gonna be a yes dear coming from me in the near future as the women wake up and get in here :)

when does scribe start anyway? september?

Frosti,

Scribe and I were up at Phalen a couple weeks ago. We parked in Maplewood and bladed over to Phalen along that trail. The trails around Phalen itself are horrible for rollerblades but thee other trail was great.

Is it called the "Gateway Trail"? Or something like that?

Wed, 07/31/2002 - 5:50 AM Permalink
Frosti

I agree 100%. The trail going around Phalen isn't really good for blading, or for my road bike. It's pretty decent for my mountain bike. But, the people who walk around the lake can make biking there interesting. They don't seem to understand the concept of seperate bike and walking trails.
But yes, the other trail you were on is called the Gateway Trail. It goes all the way down to 35E and Cayuga, and in the other direction goes all the way up to Pine Point Park. A very nice trail, if a little crowded on the weekends.

Something to think about :o)

  • Lisa Beamer on Good Morning America*

If you remember, she's the wife of Todd Beamer who said 'Let's Roll!' and helped take down the plane that was heading for Washington D. C.

She said it's the little things that she misses most about Todd, such as hearing the garage door open as he came home, and her children running to meet him. She's now the Mom of a
    beautiful little girl, Morgan.

Lisa recalled this story: 'I had a very special teacher in high school many years ago whose husband died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with a classroom of students.

As the late afternoon sunlight came streaming in through the
classroom windows and the class was nearly over, she moved a few things aside on the edge of her desk and sat down there.

With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused and said, 'Class is over, I would like to share with all of you, a thought that is unrelated to class, but which I feel is very important.

Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves. None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment. Perhaps this is the powers way of telling us that we must make the most out of every single day.

Her eyes, beginning to water, she went on, 'So I would like you all to make me a promise. From now on, on your way to school, or on your way home, find something beautiful to notice. It doesn't have to be something you see, it could be a scent, perhaps of freshly baked bread wafting out of someone's house, or it could be the sound of the breeze slightly rustling the leaves in the trees, or the way the morning light catches one autumn leaf as it falls gently to the ground. Please look for these things, and cherish them. For, although it may sound trite to some, these things are
the "stuff" of life. The little things we are put here on earth to enjoy. The things we often take for granted.

The class was completely quiet. We all picked up our books and filed out of the room silently. That afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home from school than I had that whole semester.

Every once in a while, I think of that teacher and remember what an impression she made on all of us, and I try to appreciate all of those things that sometimes we all overlook.

Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today. Go barefoot. Or walk on the beach at sunset. Stop off on the way home tonight to get a double dip ice cream cone. For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret, but the things we didn't do.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

I request a new hunt! I never got a chance to play!!! A friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer, had the surgery, and passed away on the table. No foolin', I didn't think that ever happened anymore. He was 56. Far too young to have that happen. ...So I went blueberry picking for 5 days. ... and missed the hunt., and am far too tired to even slog. Hope all is well with all of you. Sometimes life tosses you a curveball. I do wish I could've hunted and noodled rather than write a eulogy. But there will be another hunt before the PP one, won't there? I realise this takes much time, much work, and some coin, but will there be another hunt before January? MCL, and stuff...

KT, I am so sorry to hear about your friend! I hope the blueberry picking helped.

The only solace I can offer is that there IS going to be another hunt, "The Marley King Hunt" 8/3/02 6:00pmand it starts this Friday, first clue at 9PM. I hope you get a chance to do some noodling and hunting this time.
