These clues are good! We haven't narrowed it down to one park yet.
I need to go down and look at the new Harriet Island. The past could be the pavillion...but unless I'm mistaken, all that future is there now. Is there more development planned for that park?
Looking to the future could be referring to something that is under construction or development...or known to be ready for development in the future.
ya know, terry i was just thinking that tonite too. by this point in jake's hunt, there was at least something resembling a general consensus on the park. not so here. this here be a damn fine hunt we have, argh.
</pirate>
The only park coming to mind with a rock of sitting proportion is that one rock at Cherokee. I'm sure there are others...but I'm not able to ponder those up.
Hi all, I slogged a bit through the last few days - is anyone thinking it is at a park near a cemetary? I can't find where that angle has been discussed much.
No parks near the Front St. one. Elmhurst doesn't have a park nearby either...nor does Oakland..though Oakland does have some rather famous people laying at rest there.
You are going to make me go back and look at the clues, aren't you. Something about last night's clue (I think it was last night's) makes me think of cemeteries. Do you have the clues accessible? Can you post them? I can then give you a better explanation.
Hi bell. Welcome back. I mentioned the cemetery thing once but it was left alone because I think that people wanted to look at it as one of those generic clues like water, trees, paths, benches etc. It is interesting why pots wasn't used instead of plots though. If anything, it could help by weeding out the parks that have flower pots and stick to the ones that have flower beds instead.
I think 'sum' was a play on the word 'some' to get us to add something up. The word 'you' would then be the proper way to read it. C-ya leelabell
I'm atta ear 2
Jake, you headin to your bar tonight? I go right down the road from you quite regularly. I stopped in there the other night to have a few but you weren't around.

The problem is ares - there are way toooooo many ways to look at all these clues. My noodler is getting pulled in many directions. It feels like taffy.
i think that my problem personally, and probably everyone else's too, is that we're so entrenched in the mindset that we know that the clue writers come from among us. they know exactly how we think because they think the same way about these things. marley and artemis, and jake, and aw, know that we're all gonna read every little bit that we can out of them. and they'd be fools to not take advantage of that fact.
If yer lookin for parks near cemetaries.... stay away from Oakland.... just a warning.... that place sucks ass, yall.... its Known as "The Angel Of Death Cemetary".... Im not gonna go into the details here... some other time.
Baker Rec Center Boyd Park Burns Ave. Park Carty Park Cayuga Square Park Eastview Rec Center Eileen Weida Park Front Street Rec Center Lewis Park Palace Rec Center Rice Park Scheffer Rec Center Wilder Rec Center
That is assuming it's a park that has a map in the Treasure Hunter's Guide. Haven't ruled out Summit yet. And I think Marley may know of some parks the rest of us haven't heard of.
mears park has got to be out of the running as a possible park. unless of course marley and artemis didn't know about the gusmmacker 3-on-3 tournamant this weekend that shuts down a good deal of sibley, sixth, robert, and jackson streets along with 7th place, now through sunday.
I think Mears is out anyway since it was a previous hiding spot of the medallion. Besides, I think it would be hard to hide it in a downtown park, especially if it was just after dark as I've heard rumor tell.
One thing I'm questioning with the list I have is the parking lot. Now I wonder if it means the park doesn't have a lot, or that it does, but you just can't see it from where the treasure is? Valley Rec Center! :-P
Well, I have had my share of listening to Beans watch Scooby doo over and over and 'o'er' again....sooo much talk of clues and mysteries----aaaahhhhhh!!!!!
and now she is watching Power Puff Girls...and the one really says ---"Franklin said early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise"!!! can you believe it? in a cartoon and during this hunt where it fits ---
Many well-known pioneers are buried in OAKLAND CEMETARY:
Harriet Bishop, first school teacher in St. Paul; Governors Alexander Ramsey and Henry S. Sibley; Brigadier General John B. Sanborn, who served with distinction during the Civil War; Norman Kittson, early trader and politician for whom the county is named; Elizabeth Jeffries, one of the first members of the church organized by Dr. Thomas Williamson during his work among the Dakota Indians; Ta-Ti, the widow of Chaska, who saved hundreds of whites during the Dakota Conflict; Charles E. Flandrau, Indian agent and judge; and many others, notable and notorious.
I have a hard time thinking that 'dogs' doesn't have anything to do with the clue. They could of easily said "watch 'all' the people wander." Maybe a dog shelter, street name, vet etc. close by?
you can walk a dog in 99 percent of the parks in St Paul as long as it is on a leash and you carry a 'pick up device'. I see dog signs in practically every park ::sigh::
I'm late. I hate being late.
People watching makes me think of Como, the fairgrounds, along Summit or Mississippi Blvd. There aren't any benches along Summit.
These clues are good! We haven't narrowed it down to one park yet.
I need to go down and look at the new Harriet Island. The past could be the pavillion...but unless I'm mistaken, all that future is there now. Is there more development planned for that park?

I think I'll go yonder and ponder while watching out the kitchen window for people and dogs while I get the dishes done. BBL

palina-joe
There is construction around Rice and they are still working on the playground at Harriet. Nice observation TV
I sure didn't get any major brain storms with my hands in dishwater.
This is a dandy hunt if you enjoy frustration!!! hehehehehe
Space Needle, satellite? Thoughts?
I was thinking Newell tonight with the bright lights from the stadium and the trucking outfit on the other side of Pierce Butler.
It's also a good park for people walking their dogs.
Drawback is that there is a parking lot.
From Kellogg - Can you see the playground area at Harriet?
The only park coming to mind with a rock of sitting proportion is that one rock at Cherokee. I'm sure there are others...but I'm not able to ponder those up.
Hi all, I slogged a bit through the last few days - is anyone thinking it is at a park near a cemetary? I can't find where that angle has been discussed much.
I just know - without pondering much - that Artemis and Marley are enjoying all this!
Yes we are Terry :) Good to see you leela!
Hi Leelabel!
That's an interesting thought. Cemetaries in the city would be Oakland, Elmhurst, the Catholic cemetary on Front St. Any others?
No parks near the Front St. one. Elmhurst doesn't have a park nearby either...nor does Oakland..though Oakland does have some rather famous people laying at rest there.
it hasn't lee. how are you thinking cemetery?
You are going to make me go back and look at the clues, aren't you. Something about last night's clue (I think it was last night's) makes me think of cemeteries. Do you have the clues accessible? Can you post them? I can then give you a better explanation.
Oh, and hi everyone
I found it:
Cars come and go
but you can't see a lot,
you'll see some flowers
but don't dig in their plot.
in their plot seems to reference a cemetary plot.
Hi bell. Welcome back. Here's Clue #6
If history's your thing
then it might be a crime
searching through archives
to decipher this rhyme
If of the future you are fonder
and you prefer to sit and ponder,
choose a rock or bench o'er yonder
to watch the dogs and people wander.
And here are the previous clues:
Clue #5
From where I hide
you'll see a satellite,
and on the side
bright lights at night.
Cars come and go
but you can't see a lot,
you'll see some flowers
but don't dig in their plot.
Clue #4:
Kings and Queens control the wealth,
Common sense can save your health.
Eight more clues now have some fun,
Come on ya'll and get you sum.
Clue #3
Flashy red neon
in sky blue,
to see more than one
is half the clue.
Clue #2
Around our coin
there's two big woods
both from California,
and when its hot
you drink alot
of water, not Ammonia.
Clue #1
Its a past marker you'll see
which park where, eventually
but for now just stand tall
knowing it's in our beloved St.Paul.
A square on a circle
and a circle on a square
find both of these
the treasure is there.
The other thing that bothers me a little is this:
Come on ya'll and get you sum.
It doesn't say your sum - it says you sum. Is that a typo or does it mean something?
Also, Alice, I think we could stretch to make the clues fit Iris :)
Thanks Terry
Newell doesn't have flowers planted. Como does. Mounds has those wild flower beds.
Night everyone
I think 'sum' was a play on the word 'some' to get us to add something up. The word 'you' would then be the proper way to read it. C-ya leelabell

Burps to all....
Prospect didn't have flowers planted, but you could see some in a neighboring yard.
nite lee, mcl & scmd's
Goodnight leelabel! SCDs to you and yours.
If one looks to the future, you're Prospecting, right?
thats one way of looking at it, i guess, terry.

I have to say I like the 9 o'clock clue posting time. It gives one some time to ponder.
