2002 Marley King Mock Hunt

Submitted by jakeinge on

Marley found the Medallionator Treasure, now its time for someone else to experience the pleasure...

Clue Master

I've been checking out these parks downtown and didn't think about the dog signs since there wasn't any. That makes my brain rest a little better now, Thanks

Cross Cayuga off the list. Jest went by there and it just doesn't look that good. No satellites that I could see, no red neon. It's a tiny little park with little more than a playground and a basketball court. Going to go check some others out. If I don't find it tonight, may not get another chance to look.

I slogged back and I couldn't find anyone addressing the fact that all of the first letters are capitalized in clue 4 (plus the Q for Queen) but aren't capitalized for the other clues.
Thoughts?

i agree, aw. i was there today. valley would have some potential, as the neon is there, as is the view of regions, in line with the healty piece of clue 4.

Cars come and go but you can't see a lot,

Being the downtown dude, we thought this line fit pretty good for the entrance/exit to the parking ramps by Rice and Kellogg. You see the cars go in and out but not where they park at all. Incidentally, if any of you are planning on checking out Rice, be leery of looking into the holes in the bases of the lamp posts where the covers are missing. We only checked about 5 of them and each smelled of pee worse than the last. Oh the joys of the hunt. ;>(

I like the Mounds connection too

Just got back from my scouting mission. I couldn't see the #1 from Cayuga, Boyd, Burns, Lewis, Rice and Lawson, or Swede Hallow. I could from Scheffer and Baker. The last two had some potential but didn't really scream out at me "this is it!" Lewis and Boyd are cute little parks and I thought Swede Hallow was sort of neat too, not having been there before. All three would be better hiding places in general than Scheffer or Baker, or any of the downtown parks. Too bad they didn't fit the clues though.

I have to admit right now that I have no idea where it is as none of the parks I've been to seem to fit the clues that well the way I'm interpreting them. And there are still two of the 6 clues where I'm not sure what exactly it's trying to say at all. Maybe the next one will help put it all together.

Does anybody know how many 'mounds' there are at Mounds Park? 8?

Without looking at my guide I want to say 6

Baker had stairs, Scheffer had none. Swede Hallow has stairs as does Kellogg.

so the question is....is the #1 the correct answer to the neon clue or not?

I can't think of any at Kellogg either. Maybe some small ones?

nevermind that question. i was looking at my map of it upside down. :)

Well-where could possibly be a satellite at Baker or Swede Hollow?

Thu, 08/15/2002 - 7:08 PM Permalink
Clue Master

That's right me2. Thanks for the clarification. We should know better than to question AW ;) That parking 'lot that you can't see' is for the jail annex for people who commit a 'crime'

It's also located on a one 'way' street

Thu, 08/15/2002 - 7:10 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Indeed. I didn't see a satellite at either one unless Cherokee Elementary is a "satellite school" perhaps. I couldn't see the "#1" from Swede Hallow either, though I could see other downtown buildings so it's not impossible. But I think you'd have to see it through the trees. I did see someone with a dog there. There were some benches, but no stones for sitting, though there was a stone wall one could conceivably sit on. I didn't really see any squares and circles or bright lights on the side of anything (though I was there in the daylight). Sounds about as plausible as anything right now, though I still remain unconvinced.

Swede Hallow did have the cornerstone of the Hamm mansion there which sort of made me think of Kings and Queens with their wealth while the common people were down below in Swede Hallow. Also common sense might keep you from getting too close to the unprotected cliff there, thus saving your health. I'm still not sure if that's what that meant though.
