2002 Marley King Mock Hunt

Submitted by jakeinge on

Marley found the Medallionator Treasure, now its time for someone else to experience the pleasure...

Terry

Now that's an interesting clue. Didn't someone already check out the frog pond early on?

like an idiot, terry, i ruled out como before i even got a clue. just based on a conversation i had with marley there during jake's hunt about how he'd hoped jake wouldn't hide it there because of how busy the place was. now it looks like we may be going back there......

did you get the email i sent you earlier today, from ares and me2?

Unless anyone can think of anything else that would fit this clue besides the carousel, it has to be Como. Who woulda thunk?

where did you send it? Hotmail? Let me check that.

It takes more than one clue to determine a park. How can you get the other clues to fit Como?

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 8:58 PM Permalink
ares

especially after all the noodling thats gone on to put it in swede hollow.

If it's at Como, I'm clueless and in the dark.

If you can convert satellite with bright lights on the side to the johns out there - cooler. We could only see one neon flashing light - the 1 - from one spot out there and nothing else fit. Only other thing flashing was a radio tower to the west. Counted everything that we could see - and nothing protruded 13 squares.

And as I think about the carousel, it's never really been out in the open. It was in a building at the fair grounds, the Town Square Park that it was in was also enclosed and now it's found a new home at Como that is enclosed.

If the frog pond is the river...well I'm not buying that.

So I'm thinking perhaps Swede Hallow again. Phalen Creek I'm guessing starts out high and ends up down low as it flows downstream. At one time it was open, now it's enclosed underground in a sewer pipe, though there is an outlet in Swede Hallow.

Oh well, even if I don't find it, at least I'll get $20 from Jake. hehe.

Allison - I agree. You'll get your $20!

Clues that drive me nutz....

Baptist mass?

Ammonia?

edible nature?

Come on ya'll and get you sum.

Protruding 13 squares could be 13 stories. I've been thinking 13 squares protruding from the side of something.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:13 PM Permalink
me2

Well-I love the carousel idea-but I have other ideas for the other clues but fit well in other parks-I hate trying to MAKE them fit the park!

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:18 PM Permalink
Terry

Usually I'd say the clues should fit the park without stretching or making them fit a particular park.

However, we are dealing with different clue writers and the stretching and pulling these clues reminds me of taffy.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:22 PM Permalink
me2

I feel if it is there than these clues are giving us big structures-
that music clue could be the bands that play at the Band Shell Pavillion
The neon lights could be the rides at night
the bright light as I said yesterday? could be the Conservatory

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:22 PM Permalink
Terry

The carousel was a good idea until one realizes that it was always enclosed - never in the open.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:22 PM Permalink
Terry

One of the California woods would then be Tiger.

The park did take recognition with awards for landscape but where there may be markers for this I am not clear. There are many markers that could talk about the past of the park. There are fountains and water and benches and rocks-Kings and Queens of the carnivals came to Como - There are ponds
there are stairs throughout

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:24 PM Permalink
me2

and the other is PALM?

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:24 PM Permalink
me2

but what I dont get there is a satellite and you CAN'T SEE A LOT!

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:25 PM Permalink
Terry

But the carousel doesn't fit.

There has to be something that was once open and high and now low and enclosed.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:26 PM Permalink
Terry

IF you think of satellite as a bathroom building, there are johns out there with lights outside that are bright at night.

Hamms Falls is there too for land of sky blue theme

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:27 PM Permalink

I just don't buy it. I don't know what I buy anymore. I was pretty convinced it was at Harriet.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:28 PM Permalink
Terry

The river has been high many times. Currently it's low - but enclosed? I don't think so.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:30 PM Permalink
me2

aha! it was enclosed in the town square and STILL IS enclosed at COMO so whats the deal? If this is a mistake Artemis and Marley-its a biggy

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:32 PM Permalink
Terry

I remember going to Town Square and watching workers piecing that carousel back together. It was enclosed...and the area that housed it was further enclosed by gates as you had to purchase tickets to ride it.

At the fairgrounds, it was inside a building that was opened during the day and closed again at night and during the rest of the year.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:33 PM Permalink
Terry

And as far as neon anything in the sky - we could only see the 1 from one small location - and that was far away from the carousel or anything else one could make fit these clues with the possible exception of the waterfalls. And the lot below was visible.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:36 PM Permalink
me2

Ter? You could not see the neon from the RIDES?

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:39 PM Permalink
Terry

I have a hard time thinking of the lights on the merry-go-round at Como as being flashing in the sky...and those are multi-colored.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:39 PM Permalink
Terry

Does anyone think of the flashing red lights at the top of radio towers or tall buildings as neon?

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:43 PM Permalink
Terry

The red 3M sign doesn't flash, does it? I don't think so...but I believe that's neon.

Sun, 08/18/2002 - 10:46 PM Permalink
Terry

I think I'm talking to myself...nothing new there...but I suppose I should get to bed. Maybe I'll dream a solution to this.

ok-I am currently NOT buying the carousel idea even though its a good thought-only cause it technically was enclosed in town square right before being moved to be enclosed in COMO - searching through my own history-have some ideas I need to discover.
