If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle; if the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died as a result of wounds received in battle; if the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.
Somehow equates his references to arcane bits of knowledge, which Cliff Claven was ridiculed for on "Cheers", with comedy and intelligence. One problem: nothing he's ever said has been funny. He's the type of guy people listen to and say, "Hey, I don't know what he's talking about because I don't care about that pointless, useless factoid he threw out there, and I don't think it has any connection with what he was comparing it to, but because it came from so far out of left field it must be funny -- it must be! it has to be, because I don't understand it otherwise! otherwise it would mean it didn't make sense for him to refer to it, but I know that in order for him to have such an arcane bit of information he has to be extremely intelligent (Plus I just heard him say mellifluous). Nobody with all that useless information can be anything less than a genius, and thus he would be incapable of saying anything that didn't make sense." All I know is if I wanted to hear a person of average intelligence use big words and throw out Clavenisms I'd hang out at an Ivy League school for a day -- at least that way I'd have the chance of meeting some rich girl who could finance my recording career.
its a little known fact (sorry, but we're on claven-isms) that in 1974 when the puck was in cherokee, it was found there attached to a coke can in a white paper bag.

I don't neeeeeed to find it. Yeah this is fun but my favorite warm fuzzy is to figure out the clues meanings and get the general 200 foot area of the treasures hiding spot in the park. Did that thisevening. Now I feel better and good luck to every one!
So far- even if we figured out the high bridge & NSP plant and Mississippi clues. We would opt to think Cherokee but you can see those things from Mounds, Harriet Island, & maybe Linwood. HI & Cherokee being the more obvious.
Ares mentioned Cherokee to me on the first clue with the idea of King St - I drove through there that day and took a look. Yesterday Ares and I drove around and even walked out around King St/Tennis Court area and really liked it but the clues looked just as good there as some of the other parks.
This morning I drove out to Como (nothing fit). Met Ares at Swede Hollow, we walked down into the park, stood there for about 1 minute and then walked back out. We drove to the top of Swede Hollow then over to Mounds. We sat out at Carvers Cave and looked out on our beautiful city - not liking Mounds as much and placing Cherokee back at the top of our list with Harriet Island & Como in second & third place. We pulled out of Mounds and headed home for the 3pm clue.
Got home and tried to convince ourselves out of Como forgeting about Cherokee (was supposed to be looking up history on Jackson instead of what Europeans like to do for fun that lead us to Como). I am sure you all know what its like to put a park on the 'backburner' and then forget about it. Sometimes you just need more to be convinced...:) like a darned anagram to point out the park so you can fit the rest there -I sat and anagramed stuff all afternoon (anything with a 'v' or 'x' or 'k')---to then get the 3 pm clue...an anagram...::sighs:: glad that part is over...no more anagraming til the next hunt :)
I'm glad we could work together on this hunt more as a team -it felt good to talk with Marley on the phone while sitting in my Durango on the Cherokee bluff last night looking over the city lights of St Paul (not knowing I was within 6 blocks of the hidden coin). With Kids-keeping him informed while he had the bummer of being at work. Bouncing ideas off CM, Terry, Artemis & AW in the cooler -thanks everyone.
oh yeah, and my partner in crime...;) thanks.
Jake, thanks for the practice-a great way to strenghen our skills-we don't have to be the best at it-it is enjoyable and keeps us on our toes.
I think I missed something through my slogging: I read in the rules it was in Ramsey county, but someone said Jake said it was in St. Paul, did I miss that?
Ok..... so im taking it that Harriet Island is actually a possibility on this hunt? Or is it not.... since thats what the rules were for the last PP hunt.
Before I slog through the last 10 posts-I was at Cherokee with both Jasons this morning- looks good at George W. there are also rose bushes across the street. I think we are waiting til the next clue-we were out there with rakes and a cop car stopped and watched then drove off.
one more for the "ares and me2 always turn everything to sex" theory, yesterday morning it was the flies, yesterday evening it was the condom wrapper, and now today it was a couple of squirrels chasing each other around the intersection of george and cherokee ave.
we just can't get away from this!!!
cm, i may be out there this afternoon before the clue. depends on how long it takes them to change the oil in my mustang.
Hello-- Â Was just out there by George st. and then drove around for awhile but didnt see anyone so kinda figured someone found it-- So cooler nobody did so I am going back for awhile--
Jake? your not putting into the pot? :(
Marley/Artemis is in for $150
Ares put up $50 (or are you not counting Ares yet cause you dont have it yet?)
Me2- bag of m&m's
PalinaJOESY!
Ha! Marley wondered that too Me2!
He doesn't have ours yet either, but its sitting on the tv just waiting for the finder!
Birthday Joe!
yes, jake, i really am in for 50 bucks. mine's sitting in my wallet waiting for the finder too.
Hydroxydesoxycorticosterone and hydroxydeoxycorticosterones
are the largest anagrams
111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321
I like this one :)
The Ramses brand condom is named after the great pharaoh Ramses II who fathered over 168 children.
2 things about this...he missed it by ONE! & we saw a condom wrapper in Cherokee park tonight ---geesh!
funny!
coincidence? i think not. there's a coke machine visible from cherokee as well. where it's at, i'll not say.
honest, its not like we're looking for or using the condoms for which we're finding the wrappers.

This one we may need to know for future hunts :)

Cliff Claven is a HAMM! & drinks beer! = Hamms Brewery - it's not at Cherokee, it must be Hamms Falls at Como or Swede Hollow ;)
or he's 'out in left field' :)

:: feeling a little left out of the thanks, because certainly i wouldn't be a partner incrime would i? ::
you're welcome ;)
Ahhhhhhhhhhh........isn't that sweet?!?!
Currently, it looks like we might get out again tomorrow afternoon for a bit. Glad we have the park settled!
well then, we'll maybe see you in the park tomorrow, terry. that is, of course, if me2 and i haven't already found the thing by then :)
If you do, you do. I am just glad we'll be able to get out there some.
What time does the morning clue come out now?

hahahaha he said 'interesting' in a clue :)
Is there an echo in here?
TMK - I second that!
Time for some shut-eye here. Busy day ahead.
Hope you guys don't find it before we get there tomorrow.
Goodnight and SCDs!!
hahahhaa-too funny Terry-goodnight :)
Goodnight Kids & Ares :)
I got the 234 JOESY in a ROWSY! ;)
I think I missed something through my slogging: I read in the rules it was in Ramsey county, but someone said Jake said it was in St. Paul, did I miss that?
clue 1 limited us to saint paul, tim.
Ok..... so im taking it that Harriet Island is actually a possibility on this hunt? Or is it not.... since thats what the rules were for the last PP hunt.
Jake's rules didn't rule out Harriet Island so it's a possibility.
My interpretation of the clues though now eliminate Harriet Island from the list of possibilities.
Woke up this morning with a banging headache. Sure hope that dissolves away by the time I get out of work this afternoon.
See yaz in the park!
What time do you think you'll get out to the park this afternoon? I hope to be out there by 1 or so.
Look not far
From the biggest Bush
And it's not hair we're talking
In this political push.
Yeah! Sounds like a plan :-)
George W.Bush Street ?
Nice job Ian.
Hey, what are your coordinates of your cache out there? Link?

I think that this is Ian's cache. You might not be able to view this site though. Not sure.

I'll be heading out there about 1:30 if anyone wants to hook up.
Just got the clue. Good noodling about the George thing.
CM - I think we'll be there about 1:30. Things are always subject to change - but that's what it's looking like right now.

Hello--
Was just out there by George st. and then drove around for awhile but didnt see anyone so kinda figured someone found it--
So cooler nobody did so I am going back for awhile--
See you all there : > ()
Yes, that is my cache. It should be close to where you'll be. If you want to show how it works, that's fine with me.
No one had found it by the time we had to leave. Nice running into other hunters out there!
So where's the clue?!?!
