Why does the media stifle conservatism and commercialism? I look in the newspapers and see nothing supporting the war in Iraq. I turn on FOX and never see any ads. Thank God we have AM radio. These sensible patriots who dare to broadcast from base stations in their homes, at their own expense, are saving us all from the Communist Driven Media.
Dr Laura, Rush, Colonel North, John Sununu, and the other pundits who dare stand up to evil-doers like Dan Rather and Marvin Zimmler, we all tip our hats to you.
Guys like jethro hang on every word he says. Actually I have no need to. I usually have already had most of the ideas that Rush puts out. But then there is the humor. I really liked his projection of what a Tom Daschle radio program would be like. It was great!
Aside from a few, I bet that's exactly what Republicans do NOT want to read and they'd be loathe to admit it. No doubt there would be some Republicans that wouldn't admit that Rush is a leader. Those would be the "moderate" Reps like Chafee. But that doesn't mean Rush doesn't have influence over the direction of the party.
Funny how Daschle declined to get specific about the so-called increase in death threats to him and his family.
Funny how no COM-CONs received any ill will whatsoever. It's funny how the White House immediately distributed cipro on the morning of 9/11. It's also funny how the Pretender in Washington still hasn't produced proof that it was bin Asshole that took out the WTC in the first place. None. Just some doctored up video tape--- whoo, there's the proof? How the fuck are we supposed to believe that coke-headed flunkie? The sheep in the state-run liberal media won't even press it either. The rest of the world is. They just take his word for it like that stupid fucking horse in Orwell's Animal Farm--- if dubbya says it then it's right. Yeah, real smart. Fuckin COM-CONs.
Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.
Describes Congress and its lobbyists to a t does it not? Read that book lately? I'd suggest that everyone does--- in between chat rooms that is.
I've never read it.
An old friend of mine used to quote from that book.
Are you an old friend of mine, Duane Barely?
Do you have anything original to say, fold? I haven't heard anything-ever.
fold, you are a worthless, hateful twit.
The radio ranters, Limbaugh, Lewis et. al. today are so happy.
This Trent Lott controversy is the best thing that's happened to them since the election.
They can take a three hour segment and devote 30 seconds to condemning Trent Lott and 2 hours 59 minutes and 30 seconds to condemning liberals and Democrats. Accusing them of the same thing. What a boon for them.
It's starting to become clear that they care about Trent Lott's problems only to the extent it provides them with programming and material. They don't care about the inherent bigotry in the remark and the way it's set back conservative efforts to reach out to minorities. The honorable points of the debate. It's a chance to hit Al Gore, Jesse Jackson, Robert Byrd or anyone else.
The don't understand. The truth is, the Republican Party has a problem with recruiting and maintaining minority members. They are against affirmative action, and take issue with many of the other problems affecting people of color.
Maybe they don't care. They don't get voter support from minorities and so they don't feel the need to reach out to them
They do feel a need to reach out to them. They just don't want to make them dependent on the nanny state the way the Dems have. The Repubs did free the slaves, and more of them than Dems voted for the Civil Rights Act, and a Republican president, Nixon, started Affirmative Action, back when it really meant levelling the playing field for AMERICAN blacks and not a spoils system for every minority or pseudominority on the planet.
If the the Republicans have done all these wonderful things for African Americans. why aren't they in the party? Where's their results?
Don't tell me "the mean old Democrats lie about us."
They watched the Dixiecrats leave the Democratic party. They know where they ended up.
Real problem of education, violence and poverty are answered with paternalistic lecturing.
They know how many executions George W. Bush signed off on in Texas.
They heard Trent Lott, just this weekend.
How are the Republicans reaching out to minorities?
Rick,
You need to dig a little deeper than that Rick and put the rhetoric aside. So you think that's all they do is lecture ? Oh, o.k
What does that have to do with the price of tea in China ? Perhaps that's the difference. When someone is executed who is white I don't get upset because he was a white guy, I look at it as the courts doing there job. If someone's a murderous thug I don't care what the color of the persons skin happens to be.
Yes, and it was stupid and a remark will probably cost him his leadership role, it should in my opinion.
Well Rick, the cabinet for one has more minorities than any other President. There has been a huge outreach in the Hispanic community and the number of minorities voting for R's is on hte rise. Lott didn't help and I hope personally he's removed and made to sit in the corner.
You pointed out many time that "they" know where the dixiecrats went etc. They also know that the social programs from the left that were designed to help minorities have in many many ways hurt them. Many are seeing that, therefore an increase in minority voters voting R'. Is it a slow increase ? Yes, I hope it grows at a faster pace and I think it will despite morons like Lott.
Rick,
It doesn't look like either party is doing well electing minorities.
Amazing.

I guess the same could be asked of the Democratic party.
"I guess the same could be asked of the Democratic party."
In recent history, a Democrat president has not had to stand before a group of people and say his party was against segregation. Bush had to today, in 2002.
Is that a tight spot or what?
It's a crappy posisition to even have to be in and it was a stupid comment made by one person. But continue to flail away.
They are against affirmative action,
I don't see how any self respecting person can be for affirmative action?
"Here you go, you're black so you get special treatment."
"You suck, you lowly minority, so you can't make it on your own. Let us help you."
"You're just a woman, you need us to help you."
I'm sure there was good intent with AA, but it seems pretty self defeating to me.
voice by giving those deserving a heads-up, helping-hand is SO "Un-American".
They're not always deserving. The thing is, Affirmative Action has nothing to do with merit or who's deserving, it's simply about minority status.
Trying to help raise minorities up and out of poverty is such a Wasteful thing for any "Compassionate Society" to do.
Helping is great but I don't think it helps. I think it hurts both the minority & the majority. It tells the minority they're not good enough on merit alone and it tells the majority they're evil.
Like I said, they had good intentions, it was just wrong.
You've got your 80K a year job JT. Why should you even care?
You must be thinking of someone else.
Just the fact that you would say something like that shows more about you than it does about me, Jethro. Anyone who says that unborn children are to be saved no-matter-what, but then calls another human being "Worthless"... Man, you sure do have a morally-corrupted and evil heart.
Another example of the thoughtless nature of your existence. The unborn are innocent. When they have the chance to grow up they can make choices to become a reasonable and responsible individual within society or they can become like you, fold.
I would feel blessed to see many young people grow up in our free society,...
But instead you support abortion on a whim preventing many from growing up.
Seriously what?
