So far nothing they have done is illegal. What they have done is no different than forming a neighborhood watch program to keep out the scum. Citizen arrests are perfectly legal, they are doing their business on private property, they all hold a concealed carry permit, and there is no law against forming a group of armed organized men. To top it off, their leader is a liberal so it must be OK!
He's a teacher that turned newspaper owner...if that doesn't scream liberal, I don't know what does.
Side note:
If you are an able bodied person that is a resident of Minnesota, citizen of the U.S., and under age 45 YOU ARE part of the unorganized state militia under Minnesota Statute chapter 190.06 which defines the Militia and can be called upon to defend the state.
Who said I was trying to distance myself from him? I think what he is doing is commendable, as long as he continues to do it legally. The Nazi party and the KKK get to hold their parades too. We all have freedoms, one of which, is to do things that are legal yet might be unpopular.
Hard to say what it will do for US-Mexican relations. But maybe that doesn't matter to you.
From the Arizona Republic
"Duran, who said he and Rios were robbed by a coyote (a Mexican Smuggler), said that between crooked smugglers and armed militias, crossing the border has become too dangerous.
"The couple plan to give up the idea of crossing and return to Durango.
"They're looking at us like Mexican animals," Duran said."
I personally don't care much for abortion, but I am pro-choice because I don't believe the government should force my religious beliefs on someone else. Nothing about abortion is illegal. Killing a nameless unborn fetus not having a certificate of live birth is not murder (in a legal manner). It does tend to be an unpopular act for many. So if someone wants to start their own militia to patrol the border on private property in a legal manner, go for it!
"So far, there have been no known shootings by members of the armed patrols, although Ranch Rescue last month said it chased a group of marijuana smugglers back into Mexico."
Now we are winning the war on drugs, too! I like these guys. Keep the illegals out and drugs as well. All this at no cost to the government or taxpayers.
I personally don't care much for abortion, but I am pro-choice because I don't believe the government should force my religious beliefs on someone else.
Being against abortion does not have to have anything to do with religion. Logically abortion is the taking of a human life. You can believe taking a human life is wrong and be an atheist.
My guess is no. Of course, they could always make a character gay, mention it once and never go there again. Do you think that gay rights is a big issue in the comic book reading community?
from the article: In a bubble in the first edition of the series, Rawhide Kid comments about the Lone Ranger: "I think that mask and the powder blue outfit are fantastic. I can certainly see why the Indian follows him around."
So you have a gay guy dressing up like a cowboy. Wouldn't be the first time I'm sure ;) In fact it's been done....The village people ?
Seriously who cares, it's dumb, but if someone doesn't like it don't buy it for your kid.
The only thing I would take issue with is this.
The Rawhide Kid series, beginning with the first edition "Rawhide Kid: Slap Leather," .
Slap Leather ? Well hell why not the Superman BDSM edition, or Spank me Barbie. I don't care if they do it but they are exposing kids to that. I could be totally wrong here about the title since I haven't seen it but if it's suggestive as the title it's wrong.
O.K I take back what I said above, I do care. That's sick and disgusting to market a comic book with crap like that to kids. If they are only sold to adults I don't care.
More effective, civilized and less bloody might be a commitment by businesses and individuals to thoroughly check to see if prospective employees are legally in the country. It might cost more to hire someone. And all that background checking is kind of time consuming.
Maybe your approach is a little more popular these days. Vigilante justice certainly provides a more visceral satisfaction than all that bureaucratic hemming and hawing.
South Dakota Voter Fraud Allegations Still Under Investigation
The state attorney general's office charged Native American Becky Red Earth Friday with fraud charges. Paid $13,000 by the Democratic Party to sign up Native American voters, Red Earth is accused of forging as many as 1,700 registration cards and ballot requests for Election Day 2002.
Still, the attorney general's office said the fraud is not as bad as it seems.
Well if she forged up to 1,700 signatures and considering Thune only lost statewide by 524 votes, I'd say there might be something to look into.
"The allegations we have followed up on, we have not established there is massive, widespread fraud in South Dakota," said Assistant Attorney General Bob Mayer.
But complaints of election fraud in the state's five Indian reservations are pervasive.
"If you're going to buy votes, go where you get them the cheapest and this is it," said a pollwatcher named Brad.
"Ten dollars a vote is the number that was given" as the price for purchasing a vote, said pollwatcher Mike Assman.
Where's Al, Jesse and Carville crying about disenfranchised voters and every vote counting? Oh that's right there guy won so it's o.k.
John Yellowbird Steele, a Sioux Indian and representative of the Pine River Reservation, denied any improprieties took place at his reservation, where voter turnout jumped 89 percent this year over the last election.
"Cheating and possible fraud. This is totally untrue," he said.
At Pine River, 1,559 new voters cast ballots for Democratic Sen. Tim Johnson, who won the statewide election by 524 votes. Nine votes were cast for his challenger, Republican Rep. John Thune. Three Pine River precincts were the last to be counted on the morning after Election Day.
"There were people brought to that poll, that were being dragged there," alleged one pollwatcher. "They would not normally come there unless they were paid or promised something to come here."
One Indian voter insisted to Fox News that no money was handed out. And a Democratic Party volunteer said the allegations just aren't true.
"I don't think any one of us, as we picked up voters, told them how to vote," said the party activist.
Auditors have found forgeries in five counties where there are Indian reservations. In Dewey County, fraudulent signatures were found on absentee ballot applications. In Zeibach County, two applications arrived from a dead woman. At least one was an obvious forgery.
In Pennington County, police arrested one man who forged the names of five voters. In Fall River, registration cards arrived with incorrect birth dates, while in Shannon County, auditors said 10 percent of the absentee voter applications are under review.
One ballot application under review was allegedly filled out for John P. Miller, but it was signed John Nile. Another voter Richard Fernan had Richard Fernn spelled out on his application, and the signatures looked nothing alike.
One pollwatcher said that even when the name was missing, some voters were still allowed to cast ballots.
"If the voter came in and gave a name -- if they couldn't find the name, they'd look under another name. Then sometimes they'd look for third name until they found one that matched," said the pollwatcher.
Supporters say Thune did not ask for the recount to which he was legally entitled because while they believe there were voting irregularities and they could possibly have proved it, they don't think it would have changed the outcome of the race.
Rather than look like a sore loser, Thune left with his reputation intact, they say hopefully to mount a challenge for South Dakota's other Senate seat in two years, the one currently held by incoming Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle.
Let's hope so, too bad someone else we know didn't do the same.
Jimmy Carter often goes to 3rd world nations to monitor and supervise elections. The nations in question are so prone to manipulation of the electoral process and have primitive systems of ensuring fair and free elections.
Perhaps Nobel Laureate Carter should begin right here at home and monitor the US elections. The dysfunctionality here in the US electoral process appears to match that in 3rd world nations - according to even all the 'love my nation or leave it' advocates.
It's a calculated move I'm sure. It's very possible that enough votes are fraudulent and or could be thrown out. 524 votes statewide is a thin thin margin. There seems to be evidence of some shady things so he probably could challange it. Here's why I think he isn't going to. A) if he does win he probably doesn't want to win that way or B) There isn't enough votes to change it and then he's seen as a sore loser ie; Al Gore which could hurt his chances in running against Daschle in 04'. They already have controll, the R' party probably thinks he's their best chance at defeating Daschle so they are laying off it perhaps.
Re-elect Thune in 2004 !!!!!!! ;)
BTW From reading the story is there anything that leads you to objectively believe there might have been fraud ?
i know of a particular fast-food restaurant alongside 35e in northern st. paul where i'd love to walk in sometime after having an ins jacket made up where the ins stands for something like "i'm not shit" and its proudly pronounced" just to see how many of them dive head-first out the drive-through window.
I'd go along with punishing those that hire them. Something more than a mere fine but I don't think I'd go as far as castration.
Wow - you would shoot and kill the poor illegal who falls bait to the exploitive US capitalist who wants slave labor but merely slap the trader in humans on the wrist??
I guess you would stone the whore but merely rebuke her client!!
Wow - you would shoot and kill the poor illegal who falls bait to the exploitive US capitalist who wants slave labor but merely slap the trader in humans on the wrist??
Did I say we would merely slap them on the wrist? Thing is, the "US Capitalist" is a U.S. Citizen and as such has rights that the illegal alien does not.
I guess you would stone the whore but merely rebuke her client!!
More effective, civilized and less bloody might be a commitment by businesses and individuals to thoroughly check to see if prospective employees are legally in the country. It might cost more to hire someone.
Aren't they required by law to do that now? If they are, how about we just enforce the law?
True very true - it is law and should be enforced. Funny, this is the refrain one hears from the NRA crowd about gun laws. But in this case rarely shouted from the rooftops or enforced because of the cost factor.
I made a room addition this summer and the drywall was done entirely by illegal Mexicans - here in Ohio. My contractor when confronted grinned and said he could not have come within my budget if he had hired union workers. I could not afford the addition with union wages either. So I guess I also contribute to this viscious cycle.
Thanks to writer Ed Raymond for this listing of liberalism's awful wickedness (which I've edited for space constraints):
Unemployment Insurance --During the Great depression workers were fired at closing time with no idea where their next dime was coming from. Liberals pushed and passed unemployment insurance. The Republimafia fought this law bitterly.
Social Security --Passed over the virulent objections of conservatives to provide people a little security in old age. The Republimafia want to privatize it so their greedy brothers on Wall Street can invest it in stocks. Social Security has $1.3 trillion invested in government bonds. If it had been invested in the market's Standard and Poor's 500 index fund, it would now be worth $776 billion, a 41% loss.
Medicare/Medicaid --Passed by liberals over conservatives who called it "socialized medicine," the rallying cry of drug companies, insurance cartels, HMO CEO's, and the Republimafia. Why can't sick old folks take care of themselves?!
Food and Meat Inspection --Passed by liberals to protect all of us who can't afford food tasters.
Civil Rights --If left to conservatives, we'd still have plantations, shoe shine "boys", and separate toilets. The last election brought the retirement of two Southern bigots...Thurmond, the old KKK exec., and Helms, the Southern "gentleman" who sang Dixie to a female black Senator in an elavator.
Minimum Wage Laws --Look up Tom Delay's ties to businesses in American Samoa. Liberals support increasing the minimum wage when appropriate. The Republimafia always objects. Cuts into profits, you know. Should a person who works 40 hours a week be forced to still live in poverty? Liberals don't think so.
Separation of Church and State --The Republimafia are always pushing for a theocracy, controlled by the Bible Belt philosophy that all except born-again Christians are going to Hell. Liberals think religion belongs in the church and home, not in the houses of Congress.
There are hundreds of other liberal proposals which help individuals contribute to society instead of becoming disposable cogs in somebody else's money machine.
Think of the National Park Service, guaranteed bank deposits, the National School Lunch Program, the Securities and Exchange Commission, Head Start, rural electrification during the Depression, the Federal Reserve.
What have the Republimafia done for you lately? Cut taxes for themselves -- and named airports and buildings for their tax hero, Ronald Reagan. What progress!

What a bunch of B.S Dennis. More R's voted for the civil rights act as a percentage then there Democratic counterparts. People can and do change. I notice he forgot to mention that the Bush admin has more minorities and women in leadership posisitions that any other Pres.
The rest of that piece of dung you posted doesn't even warrant a response it's so full of lies and twists.
"More R's voted for the civil rights act as a percentage then there Democratic counterparts."
That's playing with numbers. Southern Democrats in and out of elected office bolted in the years and decades after the party became home to African Americans and other minorities.
I remember it clearly. Republican leaders trotted those Democrats out in the '80s, proud as punch.
"People can and do change."
And many of the Democrats who were against the Civil Rights Act ended up Republican and living in the suburbs.
So far nothing they have done is illegal. What they have done is no different than forming a neighborhood watch program to keep out the scum. "So far nothing they have done is illegal."
"So far" -- the operative phrase.
"What they have done is no different than forming a neighborhood watch program.."
We got one one this block. It's like no Neighborhood Watch I can recognize. Do they sit down to a potluck dinner after field training?
"To top it off, their leader is a liberal.."
If he is, he's a new breed.
He's a teacher that turned newspaper owner...if that doesn't scream liberal, I don't know what does.

The Minnesota Militia wouldn't want a scardy-cat like me.

LOL!
They have any witnesses to this daring chase?
I figured you'd take what they say at face value.
Normal guys watch a little football or do some fishing on the weekends. They don't usually stalk the Mexican border.
I personally don't care much for abortion, but I am pro-choice because I don't believe the government should force my religious beliefs on someone else.

God, Guns, Guts and....Gays Tamed the West!
Marvel Comics has the Rawhide Kid playin' on the Other Team.
Now is that really necessary? Is it sensible?
That's not the questions to ask, jethro.
This is business, right?
The only question you need to ask is:
Will it sell?
Evidently, they think so.
My guess is no. Of course, they could always make a character gay, mention it once and never go there again. Do you think that gay rights is a big issue in the comic book reading community?

They have cowboy night at the Gay 90's.
There won't be much of a market for it.
Regarding the Arizona Militia: Good for them! Why do they get criticized instead of the illegal border crossers?
I think they're unpredictable and uncontrollable yahoos.
They'll pay the price for their belligerence when someone gets killed.
Find something else to do on the weekends.
Act like regular people.
Whatever
I personally think they should be able to shoot anyone that tries to illegally cross the border.
If they know they may possibly die, maybe then we wouldn't have them coming over in droves.
Because they are new voters for the democratic party. Just like in South Dakota only there dead people vote.
I personally think they should be able to shoot anyone that tries to illegally cross the border.
After crosssing the border, the illegals find employment - albeit at slave wages. That is why they come.
I personally think they should be able to castrate anyone who hires an illegal person.
If they know they will be castrated, then they will not hire and exploit the illegals and the illegals will not come in droves.

Someone has accused JT of being a liberal? Now who could that be?!!!!!!
