Although Me2, since the Saturday party is an all day thing, you could stop by here earlier in the day and go to the treasure hunting party later in the evening, still in time for the 1st clue.
I am now going to the Kenny Chesney/Montgomery Gentry/Kelly Coffee Concert on January 25th so I will be headed straight to the PP after it! Now, how many of you are gonna ask me who they are? I like a variety of music -these are country.
Does anyone have a list of the past hiding places they could send me? Or any of the other stuff that was on the old Cooler Crew site? I was thinking now that my Yahoo Club is a Yahoo Group, I could put that stuff in the files section there for people to reference. It could be either in text format, or some other format, but if it's in some other format, that may limit who is able to access it. Otherwise I went through my link and checked and updated them. Nothing new to add this year yet, and I lost a couple like The Coolercrew.com and another site a guy named Derek or Jerod or something had that hadn't been updated since the 2001 hunt and sent me into popup hell when I looked at it. If MrMedHunter is here, his site sent me to pop-up hell as well, but I chose to leave his there just because he's such a great guy otherwise :-)
Aw I have all of the info from the coolercrew site but most of it is on paper.I was also thinking of adding that to www.kingscommons.8m.com (which will be POP UP FREE as of next week/with new pics)Somebody should add it to there site soon as we find out if Greg Sax is not going to open up www.coolercrew.com
Ps-"Marley"the one and only"King" will find the 2003 pp Treasure(so call me a beginner if ya want)
I believe that is the plan ClueMaster. Except of course for Mr. News. Between Lance and THX, I do believe we have the ability to ban such losers permanently.
At the very least I'd like to have the list of hiding places. The clues might be helpful, but they're not as big a deal. I thought I had it in my archives perhaps, but I didn't find it there.
Aha! MrMedHunter has a very extensive list of past hiding spots, what it was hidden in, who found it, after how many clues, etc. It would still be handy though to have a single list instead of a series of pop-up windows. Maybe I'll recompile the list of hiding spots and refer people to his site for more complete information.
From there they can get invited to the "Invitational" thread.
The reason I have the "Invitational" thread is to keep out such things as lurkers that don't contribute and jerkoffs like Mr. News.
So, I will create a list of everyone that has access to the invitational thread, and if anyone is missing, or you want someone added for access, let me or ares know.
damn straight we are, cm. one of these days i've gotta sit down and come up with some nice looking business-card type thingys to pass out at the pp (oh they're gonna love me for that aren't they?) i've been talking about doing it since, oh, february or so.
What about someone who is an eloquent writer (allison?) requesting that the Winter Carnival include a link to the site? In turn, with J T's permission, we could have links to:
I can't imagine why they would. I'm not sure what the benefit to them would be. Because if we're going to convince them, we'd have to include in there an explanation of why it's a good idea. Of course I never was sure what the benefit of the original Cooler was to them either. Anyone have any good arguments to make as to why they would want to include a link to another site when they already have their own discussion board?
nice looking business-card type thingys to pass out at the pp
You go girl.
snaps fingers in waving motion
Hey THX, any chance that you could make the 'Warning' pix at the header of this forum any smaller? That way we wouldn't need to scroll down to see the links. This obviously sounds anal but this is the sad life I lead. ;~}
The Winter Carnival site? Hmmmmm, not sure. It's not really their hunt, and I suspect they would hate to jeopardize their relationship with the PP. So we'd still have to find reasons as to why it would be a good idea. For that matter, come to think of it, how much do we really want to piss off the PP? We certainly don't want to give them a reason to quit doing the hunt. I don't know if that's likely, but I think it would still help to keep a good working relationship in case we want to be able to talk to them about the hunt. Certainly we're not happy with the change of format, but I don't think that was really even their decision.
The new format wasn't their decision. Peluso said all the Knight Ridder newpaper web sites switched to the new format at the same time.
I don't want to tick anyone off either. I just want a usable place for people to chat about the hunt. Nothing against PF but, like I said, we wouldn't even be here if they hadn't switched to the crappy format.
I believe I've said it before, but I'll say it again. While that format is a fairly common one, and can even actually be kind of useful where the discussions involve a post here, a post there...There's no way it can keep up with the sort of volume the hunt generates. Nor anyway for a person to try and keep up with all the different things being said as they're dispersed over an ever increasing number of threads and sub threads. It will be madness I say! Not that it wasn't madness before, but at least it was a somewhat manageable madness.
Wow, the list has been the same since March? What was the name of the woman, I suddenly can't remember, who had the wolf? She was at that bonfire we had in Crosby Park?
Otherwise I'm sure we can pick people up as they start posting in other threads.
we haven't had a whole lot of new faces show up since march. i just went through it, and put it in order by actual screen name, as opposed to the "last name" first variant that shows up in the access list. the woman with the wolf is kt. she's on the list.
hahahahahahahaha
or something and i can't move
OR SOMETHING? ;)
here I am in one thread telling AW I may skip out on the party and here is Ares volunteering me to be there.
::pulls leash around Ares neck a little tighter::
yes dear.
Although Me2, since the Saturday party is an all day thing, you could stop by here earlier in the day and go to the treasure hunting party later in the evening, still in time for the 1st clue.

ok. i'll bite. who are they?
I already told you- they are country music singers
yeah but you put the teaser question out there.
What's country music?
You should wear clown makeup to that concert. That would rock

Are we planning on directing people from PP to the non-invitational Medallion Hunt forum for the hunt?
Are we planning on directing people from PP to this forum?
I did some practicing for the hunt today, I went out in the woods searching for pinecones in the snow :-)
I believe that is the plan ClueMaster. Except of course for Mr. News. Between Lance and THX, I do believe we have the ability to ban such losers permanently.

Marley- You can use the scanner, scan your pages to a .doc file or .pdf file. Or I can do it next time I go home.

The plan is to send people here:
"2003 St Paul Winter Carnival Medallion Hunt"
From there they can get invited to the "Invitational" thread.

What about someone who is an eloquent writer (allison?) requesting that the Winter Carnival include a link to the site? In turn, with J T's permission, we could have links to:
daily schedule
carnival merchandise
etc
Isn't it worth a try?
I love your plan, ares !
and your idea is equally as excellent, ian.
I think it's a grand idea.
37 what?
37 bottles of beer on the wall. 37 bottles of beer......
Cooler idea!! : )
I can't imagine why they would. I'm not sure what the benefit to them would be. Because if we're going to convince them, we'd have to include in there an explanation of why it's a good idea. not twincities.com
the official winter-carnival.com web site
not twincities.com the official winter-carnival.com web site
Besides, the new PP forum sucks!
I wish they never would have switched over.

Could someone go to my Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/theallisonwonderland/?yguid=59689856 ) and click on the "For More Information" link towards the bottom and tell me if it brings you to the Winter Carnival Medallion Hunt Folder?
It worked for me.
Cool. That should help people trying to find us figure out where we are find us.
The new format wasn't their decision. Peluso said all the Knight Ridder newpaper web sites switched to the new format at the same time.

Don't forget to let me or ares know about anyone that needs access.
The current list of people that have access is right here. THX 1138 3/18/02 4:42pm
When I have time, I'll create a separate thread with just the list.

Can I suggest a few geocachers, or do we want to have them use the open thread for awhile?
ares, reason the names were that way is because that's how you have to search on a username to give them access.
Ian, I don't care who posts here. If a member wants someone to join, the more the merrier I say. Let us know and we'll give them access.
Also, Like I said. People don't have to post here in the invitation thread only, it's just an option.
I'm just trying to keep lurkers and Mr. News type idiots out.
that's right. its not just how they show up is it?
