the stupid cottage grove super america has the winter carnival buttons in their safe still. I wanted to get mine early this year. I may have to drive to woodbury.

Seems like sacrilege to me to buy them anywhere other than St. Paul.

tim_the_hunter

Yeah, not even from Ramsey county!

But I believe that the St. Paul winter carnival would suffer if it were not supported by all the ex St. Paulites in the 'burbs. I am not even an ex St. Paulite, I have always been in the 'burbs, but my heart is in St. Paul.

Same with the S.A's in Inver Grove. But I'd have to agree with both of you though. I only buy my buttons from the S.A. on 7th st. downtown but also agree that it's us burbinites that have a lot to do with supporting the carnival. Remember that there are only 287,151 people in the city and 2,968,806 in entire metro area. (I'm a geek with numbers)

Well, I just updated my links at my website to route people here instead of pioneerplanet for "The Water Cooler"

Honestly, I can't even remotely imagine how the current threaded format over there could possibly work. People will be all over the place not knowing where to post or what to read.

Ian - Those pictures of Duluth's Canal Park area are wonderful! I love when the rocks get that buttercream icing look. Thanks for posting those.

Seems we're so busy now doing stuff for Christmas that it's not easy getting here.

And I refuse to get all worked up over Winter Carnival stuff yet. I'll get my button - probably at the Tom Thumb next time we get past there - but my mind can't handle all that now. Everything in it's own good time.

Now it's time for bed and some way cooler dreams. Goodnight! SCDs!! MCL!!!

Chemist-Thisis the company I do work for now. You can also do a search for mystery shopper or secret shopper, but I would stay away from the ones that want you to pay to be a part of their shopper data base.

I had an uneventfully busy day, went for a walk through the woods looking for pinecones and cutting some boughes to make a wreath and a swag. Made those, they turned out nice, then made a couple curtains from an old sheet and put them up. I tried sawing a 4" log into thin slices with a handsaw to make ornaments, that didn't go so well. Picked up my mess and did some light cleaning. Gonna eat some cocoa and toast and relax now :-)

This should probably go in the geocaching board, but I think most people read this one.

Last night at the meeting of the Minnesota GeoCaching Association, I pitched the idea of combining our winter picnic with the Re-Hash Bash. The members present seemed excited about it.

Most of them had at least a little interest previously. When I explained about the clues being available online, and especially about the 2003 board, I got the idea that many will at least check it out. Some of these people are out in the parks all year long, and you never know, they could have noticed something that we've missed.

There will be many GPS receivers at the Bash, and depending on the park, and the amount of time before the Bash, there could be a number of caches to check out.

I think it would be a great opportunity for those who are interested, to check out something new.

The website should be active in a couple weeks. I'll direct them to Cooler Crew Check-in first.

BTW, your nearby Best Buy has the Garmin e-Trex on sale for $99.95 this week.

I think it could prove beneficial for both types of addicts Ian. Especially those of us who are already into both types of hunts. Hopefully for Geo sake, the treasure will be hidden in a larger park.

Here's a little Christmas photo I took for ya me2. Now can I rub up against you for good luck on this Saturday's $125M Powerball? no offense ares

Question of the week...

What would you do for money and how much?

a woman on tv just shaved 1 eyebrow for $50with an electric shaver!
aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Fri, 12/13/2002 - 1:45 PM Permalink
THX 1138

It depends.

I wouldn't do that for $50

Fri, 12/13/2002 - 1:54 PM Permalink
Frosti

$150, maybe.

When I was in college, a guy in the dorm shaved off most of his nether region hair for $5.

Fri, 12/13/2002 - 2:19 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Well a woman could always go back and shave the other one off too and then go back and pencil them in. I had a boss in college and I noticed one day that her eyebrows were really only drawn on.

hahahahahahaha

I wouldn't do anything against my principles, hurt myself or someone else, or eat any kind of weird food for any amount of money. I would do something like shave an eyebrow or even my head, or jump off a cliff or lay in a pit of snakes, as they aren't permanant.

One of my aunts pencils in her eyebrows, you should see her without her makeup-scarey!

What would you do for money and how much?

I believe the correct answer is:

Spend a week and a half barely sleeping, outside in subfreezing weather, digging through snow and chopping through ice until you can barely move anymore. And all that just for the slight possibility of getting $10,000.

Sat, 12/14/2002 - 3:45 AM Permalink

By the way, I meant to mention that I was elected as Master of my Mason Lodge for 2003 last week. There's a ceremony where I get "installed" on Saturday January 4th at 10am. If anyone is interested in coming to cheer, or if you're just interested to see a bit of what the Freemasons do, I'd certainly enjoy having you there. It's Como Park Mason Lodge on Front St. near Lexington and there's a lunch afterwards. So if anyone might want to go, let me know.

Congratulations, Allison!! If the weather is decent, we're likely to be up north that day, but if we end up with some nasty weather, that would be interesting.

These weekends are way too short!!!!

This week will be a flurry of office gatherings, trying to get all my work caught up so I can be on vacation, gathering groceries for our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals and getting this house in shape for entertaining.

Have a way cooler Monday everyone. See yaz later!

So Kris came home from college on Friday afternoon for winter break (30 days !). He brought home a carload, including a big basket of laundry for Mom, and his 27" TV. I was supposed to help him carry it in, but I was having a nap. He didn't want to wake me up, so he carried it in himself, including downstairs to his room.

He had a matchplay scratch league at 4:30 and couldn't finish unloading his car. 29 kids started and he made it to the final two. The same kid he faced two weeks ago. He had to pick up a nasty split to have a shot at winning, and did. It was a good game.

He and his girlfriend went shopping, then out on the town. I guess he got home about 1:15 am. At 5:00 am our neighbor noticed the window broken on his car. Missing:

radar detector
snowboard
boots
jacket
gloves
2 newbowling balls

given the snowboard that was stolen i'm guessing that the boots were meant for that. in which case they're gonna be rather uncomfortable to walk around in.

that totally sucks, ian. big time.
