Marley, now you've gone and done it. I just know that someone is going to use that as their avatar now.
And Shaggy is right, some of the stuff in there did give it away as being unlikely, except for that he was quoting Carolyn Robertson and who knows what she thinks happens with the hunt.
The bigger problem actually was that rather than just post the story here for us to read and figure out, he just told people (me anyway) that the story existed without being able to see for ourselves what it said. And then the fact that we couldn't find anything on the internet that actually confirmed there was a hunt going on made the whole thing seem a lot more real than it might have originally been intended to be. That and the fact that the new PP site is so convoluted to try and use, I wasn't terribly surprised that I couldn't find the story there.
If the medallion is stolen by a hungry squirrel, then I am going to give up. And I sure hope there aren't too many diapers out there, cuz I know I am gonna have to check them out. And they probably won't even be frozen.
They claimed Boogie Wonderland was playing last year too and then they cancelled and got replaced with another band. Boogie Wonderland is pretty popular locally, but they're also rather flaky. No relation to me though.
I guess I can remember a time way back in '02 where it was a record 49 degrees today and there wasn't any snow on the ground the day after they found it.
when i sent that email, td, i was very very tempted to put on the bottom of it that you guys really shouldn't expend too much energy on the hunt this year. this medallion's out there waiting for me2 and i to find. :) i'm leaving work on the 17th and not going back till the first, so that i've got plenty of time to think about nothing but the hunt.
that said, i'm glad you found us with no problems' i'm hoping everyone else i blind-copied on that email finds us too.
peoplesforum.com is actually in california, on pacific time. hence the 2 hour difference. its actually far more diverse than just us, the cooler crew. click on member folders and you'll see there's plenty of discussion going on from all over the world, too.
no biggy. aren't laptop's fun? this year i'll really be able to be the one sitting on the snow mound with a laptop and cell from our hotel coolerfornia song. except i'm a he and not a she. :)
it was a knight-ridder decision. they wanted all their newspapers' online presences to have a universal look and feel, which meant that the water cooler had to go. if you go check out my own personal medallion hunting web site, links on coolercrew.com, i've got the archives from all the medallion hunt threads at the cooler i could get my hands on posted there. like i said in the email i sent, they pulled the plug on it on the 7th of februray. at roughly 745 at nite. friday the 8th was a very interesting, very frantic day for those of us who were left around in the cooler, as we tried to find a new place to chat. and here it is. nice thing is, for the most part we have total control of how it looks. :)
Hell yeah... como sucked ass... but it was fun as hell. Me and Shaggs and his bro were gettin ready to leave, or go to another part of the park, and this big ass caravan of cars came rolling by, with people all going "We know where it is! Follow us!" and we all ended up going and lookin over by the old street car headquarters... only to find out the next day, that it had been found right by where the cars were all parked, in the first place.
I feel right at home with the time listings, of course that is because I'm in the california sun now. Two days ago it was 85 in Burbank.
:).
Its looking more and more like I will not make it up to MN for the hunt this year, but I have every intent on flying back for the Fitger's Bock Hunt so that I can look to become the three-time,three-time,three-time bock hunting champion.
yes we did. i believe you were the first person from the boards i met, though it was a dish towel and not a diaper. please. no diaper talk here. a few of us recently had a bad experience with a diaper during a mock hunt in cherokee a few months ago :)
LOL! So you are in another state! You probably have more snow than we do in California! I just passed Summit Ave and there is the Snow Sculpting Contest sign on the boulevard and NO SNOW!! What are you doin in Cally anywho?
Pain... hell nah... I wasnt in any pain. I just didnt get a shitload of money is all.
The last time it was at Newell was real shitty too... Me and Shaggs were out there, and we practically sat on the damn thing 2 or 3 times, but then his mom and bro were getting cold and wanted to go home... if we had like another 30 - 45 minutes, we would have had it that year, no doubt.
my guess, td, is that you've got a wireless network adapter built in to the laptop, and you're "borrowing" a neighbor's internet connection. my cousin found that out last weekend when he suddenly was online :)
Good for you Rush, but we will miss you in person this year! Next year you have to plan better.....tell them right now, that you have to come home for the hunt! Go on...TELL THEM!:)
my work will allow me to take time off but, getting that time off is based on workflow, and following the holiday hiatus, production picks up fast, I need to work a lot this month to make up for monies not earned last month.
its more or less the equivalent of what newbies had to do at the pp. register, then somehow confirm that registration. until then, your posts end up being moderated, and a folder host, such as thx or myself has to approve the posting into a folder.

Or maybe a note at the bottom of the header of each thread they're likely to post in.

i suggest you invest in some rubber gloves, tim :)
joe?
not really :)
I think it is.
well then i guess that's all that matters :)
right up front in the med hunt folder? that's where the link i sent out is sending them.
That's good enough.
I'll also probably say something in my tag-line, which should help.
this...
one too. joe
Boogie Wonderland
related to Allison ?

There was snow when they found it though. We were dragging the kids around Mirriam on their sled the night before. :-)

oh and there's only one a in ares :)
guys, do me a favor. keep an eye out in the other threads you see for incoming crew-folk that should be added to the access list in here.

I think I may have kicked it last year. I remember kicking several chip container type items in that trash filled Merriam park last year.

have some snow, but down here in the valley it is sunny and windy. We had 70 MPH winds the other night with temps in the high 80's
Agreed wholeheartedly.

Money, shmoney, this is the real thing man! You got 50 other weeks outta the year to make money! :)
oh yah. the scribe we all know and love who's addicted to the hunt is definitely back!
I even marked my school schedule around the hunt.....I'm puttin into my law school app in a year and a half just so they know it is NOT NEGOTIABLE!
Now that would be a real "treasure".
indeed it would be. i just have to plug mine into my cell phone and, in the words of me2, "boom baby".

I'm telling you, it's going to be in a Jesse Ventura action figure box behind a mini-donut stand at the Fairgrounds.
So cooler! People are finding us here!!
all it takes is a little advertising :)
If you advertise it, they will come.
Unless you have individuals giving out bogus press reports...
I am glad to see posts... how is everyone? I am ready for the cold hunt!!!
