It's still ambiguous. What is "clear"? And as far as nearby, is it a place within the park, or a place outside the park which is nearby and offers the clear view? We still don't know for sure it's in St. Paul. Watch, tonight they'll say what it's in and offer nothing better as far as location.

Como Zoo is out. I think the rest of Como (sans golf course) is still in.

Snow Mommy, they turn off every night at 11. I have a view of the skyline from my deck, hmmmmmm maybe its around here somewhere

leelabell is right. Only the zoo and golf course are out. Otherwise the rest of the park is in, though not terribly likely.

"they turn off every night at 11." ...the same time the clue is released. COINCIDENCE?

That might look a little too suspicious

I always check my own backyard first....after all it is in St.Paul proper and has a view of the Cathedral and the Capitol.....not to mention other things if the neighbors don't close their curtains.:)

Ms.G, did you check YOUR backyard? If you didn't I'll clear it tonight after the next clue.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:02 PM Permalink

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:03 PM Permalink
Scribe

Well, can you hear the Capitol from your backyard? Can you smell it?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:04 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Of course you're the one that seems to be baking with your asparagus-dill dough there. (hehe)

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:05 PM Permalink
Big G

If the capitol smells, I think we all have something to worry about

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:05 PM Permalink
human24

Can you sense its aura?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:05 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

That would be Valley Rec Center

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:06 PM Permalink
Big G

Well, I'm not thinking it's that close to the Capitol, Snow Mommy, because the clue mentions seeing the dome, not the whole thing

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:06 PM Permalink
Scribe

That'd be Valley Rec. and Allison don't be jealous just cuz I gots my very own asparagus.....:)

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:06 PM Permalink
leelabell

Allison knows Valley Rec very well.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:07 PM Permalink
Big G

We could all just stand on the Capitol grounds and shout, Ok, we're here, give us the medallion now!

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:07 PM Permalink
Scribe

Yes, it's aura, tell me how it feeeels....can you feel the Capitol from there...ah yes...

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:08 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

A woman with her own asparagus has always made me nervous. I may have to medallionate again.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:08 PM Permalink
Scribe

MMP Allison!

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:08 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I wonder if they used the word "puck" because it's hidden in a bathroom as a urinal puck? That would make it easier for Jake to target it for medallionation.

anybody goin down to the PP tonight?

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:10 PM Permalink

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:11 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

It's at 11pm, though if it's anything like last year, you can probably expect it to get later and later each night.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:11 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I should be there tonight and I'll be collecting for anyone who wants to get into the guess the park pool (there's another thread for that).

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:13 PM Permalink
Big G

well i gotta get going to tune into the aura of the capitol...actually i'm going to the gym so i can build up my digging muscles for all the invisible snow i'm gonna have to dig!

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:13 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Then he also told me they cut down a bunch of trees so there's many wood a brush piles up there.

Bonfire!

It smells bad when I medallionate.

I'm not terribly up on my medallion hunting history, but has the medallion ever been hidden on a parkway? I just ask that because my house is along a st paul parkway, and there's all sorts of Park and Rec signs up around it, seems like it'd be a pretty inconspicous spot to hide something, seeing as alot of people know parks, but not parkways. Then again, maybe they can't hide it in parkways because of some rule? As far as my knowledge goes, the medallion is hidden on public land in ramsey county, excluding como zoo and a few other spots.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:24 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

Gee DD, I wouldn't have picked you as the type to eat asparagus.

Mon, 01/20/2003 - 3:25 PM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I believe it has been on parkways before, or something similar anyway, though it's been quite a while since that happened. But it could happen and might not be a bad place to put it to make the hunt go longer.

Wow randy we almost took the same path!

Battle Creek-- you can see the Capitol from the lower parts entrance.
Indian Mounds-- duh like rr said!
Harriet-- just the gold tip at the end almost in lilydale
Cherokee-- yep
 little parks
kellogg--yep (through the skyway,not a clear view)
prospect--yep
mlk--yep
central--yep
dunning--yep

you cant see the dome from---
merriam--"unless you climb A tree"-rr right!
boyd--nope not me
prospect Heights--nope
highland--nope

But I am thinking that clue means more than just be able to see the "Capitol Dome"! Thats way to easy. Takes away too many parks in the 2nd clue.If you wanted to use a "DOME" that you can see from a hell of alot more parks why not use the Cathedral!
This is why I am thinking 1 of the 2:
1--the coin is "taped" to the Capitol on the front page of the papaer!(maybe just the Capitol cut out its about the size of the coin and maybe in clay/grass/weeds/ect...)
2-- you can see the Capitol from a park , but you can also see from that same park the PARK that the medallion is in.(either that park or another in clear view)

sounds like something they'd do for sure because of the snow coverage...

I don't know what I'll do tomorrow when I'm working and not able to slog now and again during the day.

I checked out Highland. Only thing visible was the top of the Cathedral dome.

Lewis Park also has no visible domes.

Lyton Park is a possible - if you walk just down the street a bit the dome comes into view.

Cass Gilbert is obviously in the running.

Driving around trying to keep your eyes towards the dome is not conducive to defensive driving - more like offensive to others.

I decided it was time to come home and regroup.

Its titled "Alli-Sins".

The Scribe wrote on his posting slate
And posted for all to see
“If faith’s anew’
Then why don’t you
All come to mass with me?”

And one replied, “Can’t go inside
For long have I feared the worst
For much I’ve scoffed
And pissed Him off
And into flames I’ll burst.

Or maybe I never really thought
That any harm could come
But I’ll err on the side of being sure
And with the priests, stay mum.

But I’ll tell you
A sin or two
Though imagined or real they be
And whether they’re lies
Or super-size
My conscience can be set free.

So rub-a-dub-dub
Come hop in my tub
And I’ll tell you my Alli-Sins
‘Bout whips and chains
And walking canes
And a few more...just for shts and grins.

But what I must confess
Is that I obsess
‘Bout hockey pucks hidden in tins
And I dream at night
Of parks all white
And that one of the Cooler Crew wins!

Now I’m done confessing
So please give me your blessing
I’ve gotten it all off my chest
Super-size or with fries
I’ve my eyes on the prize
Just let me get on with my quest.”
