It would be advantageous to be able to limit the other thread to views of only the 10 most recent posts.

We could use the insight of others and before the lurkers have any time to read enough, we could bombard it with 10 joes and take the idea over to our thread. Sinister Mape Gui!

Thought I'd share this laughter with the rest of you....and then it's back to work here.

There was a hunter complete with rake combing through W. Minnehaha this morning.

Made me laugh out loud!

Now get out there!

Morning Crew- and Lurkers alike. We were down at HI last night, god that place was trampled. I think the snow is a good thing- maybe the clue writers even planned it. It means EVERYBODY has to start over! Which is good for me, cause I am now officially sick as a dog.

I'm sorry lilslim. That's too bad.

I'm not feeling well myself. I think I'm just worn out. I got a lot of sleep last night but just don't feel right.

The sport of kings is horse racing. Puck must be at Canterbury Park this year. Find a cooperative race horse and look where the 'sun don't shine' - just don't get kicked.

However, the clues all seem to point elsewhere, to a place much colder than a racing stable.

Someone PLEASE find the treasure.!!!!!!!!!

LOL!

I wouldn't mind it being found at this point either. Just hope it's someone from the Cooler Crew.

So is everyone out digging now or is it that no one wants to share their "secret spot" at this point?

There was a reporter from the LA Times out here last night doing a report on the treasure hunt.

Was at HI til almost 1:30. So many clues for it, but none seem like they're dead-on-balls-accurate. I am in noodling bliss, tho. Who else thinks the 2 or 3 clue is an early clue for Justus Ohage. It was Nagasaki for a long time, then for about a year it was Harbor, and now it's the good Dr.

There was another woman a few nights ago that is now local, but is originally from Chicago.

Don't know if she's freelance or works for someone.

Nancy, that post was moderated so it might have been posted sometime yesterday.

I hadn't checked the moderated posts since about this time yesterday.

So many clues for it, but none seem like they're dead-on-balls-accurate.

I think these clues were written specifically to *not* come off as "dead-on-balls-accurate" about anyplace, including the hiding spot. Otherwise once a few people found the key, it wouldn't be long before everyone was there. I think they want them to be vague enough so that people can still fit them to several parks if they really try. But here is what I think the key is...

Despite the fact that the clues are supposed to be tricky, and even obscure, the goal of the cluewriter is nonetheless to try and communicate a location to the treasure hunters. So the clues shouldn't just fit the area, they should actually be describing it. When you're in a spot, and you match the clues up to various things, are these the things you might pick to describe the spot you're in, or are they just obscure points on the horizon?

Ouch. Processing, brain cramping... It seems to me the clues tend to relate to horizon views, specific objects within the park, AND knowledge of history all at the same time. This hunt isn't as predictable as to the "narrowing down", lining up sights etc., as in past hunts.I believe the clue writer did more research for this, it's brilliant. I didn't really need the snow, though it'll make life more interesting. I discovered alot of cool stuff out there last night. Hope I can relocate them.

Haven't slogged since Friday, and probably won't get through everything, but would "me precious" be a reference to the lines in the new Lord of the Rings movie, where Gollum utters many, many times through the movie, "my precious, my precious"?

Just a thought.

Hope everyone is staying warm. We went to our "camp" this weekend, and found a Winter Carnival scene of our own...the pilot light on the furnace had gone out, so it was a frigid 28 degrees in the house, and there were ice sculptures in the toilet! Not exactly a relaxing weekend!! Would rather have been medallion hunting, for sure, but its a dang good thing we went to camp instead, or who knows what the place would have looked like???

Anyway, the damage is repaired and we've got someone checking 3x/day now to be sure the heat stays on. I'm not usually all that psychic, but I do foresee a new furnace in our future.

This hunt seems like its going well...the clues are difficult enough, and lots of folks are getting to the stage where they just want to be put out of their misery, yet are loving every sleep-deprived moment of it.

Stay warm, Everybuddy!!

I think it's because we're either too cold to say anything, or we've done everything to these clues (including playing them backwards looking for satanic messages) and can't figure anything new out of them.

Since around clue 5 I've been thinking Raspberry Island. I've searched it twice and now have come down with a doosy of a cold so I'd like a cooler to go find it for me! Since I've gotten sick I have not had a chance to keep up with the speculation on the monster thread, so if this is a repeat I apologise.

Clumaster adds this from clue 7:
John Carpenter built the stage building on Raseberry Island =carpenters beau

Clue 1:
--"crew": Crew rowing - Minnesota Boat Club is on Raspberry (http://www.boatclub.org/index2.php)
--"barbs": thorns - Raspberrys have thorns

Clue 2:
--Okay, you can't see the capitol dome. . .
--"treasure": Treaseure ISLAND perhaps??

Clue 3:
--warm, away from the storm": under the small bridge leading to Raspberry is a sheltered area with a fire ring
--"triple E": The street with the small bridge leading to the island is lEvEE.
--"open to all who enter": no gates, island is always open.

Clue 4:
--"red white and blue": Wabasha bridge (directly over the island) is covered in US flags

Clue 5:
--"lifer" and "keep": other have thought this points to a jail. Ramsey county has one that is red brick and overlooks the island
--"cipher": I sent this out on the large thread last Thursday or Friday. We have the number 1 alone and the numbers 2 & 3 together. 2+3=5. Substitute 5th letter for 1st and you get triple A. wAbAshA. Now we have named both bridges that cross over or to Raspberry.
--"leap": Others have thought this means bridge over the Mississippi.

Clue 6:
"Sun aint shining": maybe under the levee bridge? Shadow there.

Clue 8:
"precious": Tolkein's ring. Fire ring again?

Clue 9:
"greatest of sports": a reference to rowing? A bit of a strech.
