Chair-E-ots, Slim. Chair-E-ots.

no bitter, that's what has been said...

Terry

We raked deep, kicked it up, dug some...but there's a lot of sand there. We could have certainly missed it.

No named parks! I love it! Naming the park just turns the game into a "sooner or later, there will be no more park left to search, let's just start dragging the nets" event.

No good. No good at all.

Conway was a perfect citing of an accurately ran frenzy.

Last como was not. Not at all.

At worst--snow depth not more than 1 inch. Its really just down after today.

Was temp gone; what posting # is clue number 10?

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:32 PM Permalink
Matt

This entire clue seems to say "hey, check out the river."

Anything more?

Clue 9
With a car, you don't get far
And a horse would get you nowhere.
But celebrate, it's not too late
For round and round, you'll get there.

Green, Chariots were pulled by horses...

Yup! :D

If it's in that sand, we had to have stepped on it. There were three, of us there just about all day and Mom and her oldest joined us for awhile.

Green, I'll send you a stogie you can smoke in my place at the Re-Hash!

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:36 PM Permalink
green

YOU'RE ON, STAL!!! :D

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:36 PM Permalink
lilslim

but it says a horse would get you nowhere...so you are giving me a disagreeing statement.

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:37 PM Permalink
MedallionStallion

Uh oh, I see Jesus is lurking. If there was ONE person who you'd think could help out it would be him!

Good point, Saint!
WHere is water/river mentioned in this clue?

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:38 PM Permalink
Matt

Thanks, dave, I really appreciate it.

To go, or not to go, that is a tough question indeed.

ARGH

Slim, chariots (Chair-O-Key/Harriet?) go in circles - they go nowhere. No cars back then. Another name for your car is your "chariot."

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:39 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

st paul parks ordinance states no one can have a horse on park grounds...

See for yourself :)

http://www.ci.stpaul.mn.us/code/lc170.html

I don't really see much that'd lead me to a waterfront on this clue either...

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:41 PM Permalink
queenmalley

Green: chariots are driven by a horse--clue says a horse wont get you no where...

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:41 PM Permalink
queenmalley

It's gotta be a paddleboat---back to my orginal Harriet thinking, but where, where!?

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:43 PM Permalink
green

(jesus...)

And where are you going if you're running in circles - as CHAIR-E-ots do? Huh? You're going nowhere! So, them there horses are getting you nowhere, and thus your car - "chariot" - is not going to get you anywhere.

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:44 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

Car won't get you far... basically it's not in a parking lot or near a street... least that's what I make outta that

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:45 PM Permalink
MedallionStallion

Is there a street near Harriet, or any parks in question, which have a nearby street that sounds like "Gollum"? If so, methinks clue 8 would be your referrence to that park.
It's not my favorite idea, but it's hard to resist a lord of the rings connection to clue 8.

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:45 PM Permalink
lilslim

wow, I like this (in Harriet's history). I know it's been said before, but here it is straight from the web page "1997
Saint Paul determines to press for completing implementation of Harriet Island Regional Park in two to three years, rather than the 15 years originally envisioned."

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:46 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

makes some sense hooiser

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:47 PM Permalink
green

Stal, that clue was the "sole-lure" clue. All the udders can be fit into Chair=E-ot. Precious, I believe is referring to the sole, only BB diamond...

Here it is Sports Dude- "1992
Winter Carnival Ice Palace on Harriet Island is seen by millions worldwide as part of the televised coverage of the Super Bowl at the Metrodome in Minneapolis."

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:48 PM Permalink
King Boreas aka Ian

there don't have to be sports fields

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:48 PM Permalink

Gods, am I gonna be red if this izz *my* "Iris" year...

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:49 PM Permalink
queenmalley

Bitter: how is that clue in reference to the '92 super bowl?
Are you teasing?

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:49 PM Permalink
queenmalley

Got it...thanks slim

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:50 PM Permalink
green

But I don't think so...

It all fits.

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:50 PM Permalink
King Boreas aka Ian

read the clue

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:51 PM Permalink
lilslim

I am just agreeing. We will not really know what the "Greatest Sport" reference is too if it is at harriet till we read the explanations. Stallion- I felt it was referring to Gollum in LOTR as well, Gollum lived in a cave. There is a bait shop and caves right there.

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:51 PM Permalink
KC0GRN

Hmm.. thinking there might still be a clue or two left to this hunt :)

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:52 PM Permalink
green

Well, I gotta toddle. Hugs, Stal. Get your Hunting butt back here! Get that stogie to me and I promise to smoke it at the Re-Hash Bash and puke my guts up!

GOOD LUCK, ALL!!!

Please let a 'Head get it!!!

So stop saying it is, it discourages the lackeys.

by playing this "greatest of sports"

This clue gives you two streets.

Matt... no reason to yell at everyone, ninja. Everyone has their own opinion on shit, yo. IF someone thinks the park has been torn apart, then let them think that, if you think otherwise. You dont see anyone shooting your ideas down do you???

another harriet island clue "16 Public Dock
Home to the Covington Inn and Mildred Pierce Cafe, the public dock extends 800 feet into the Mississippi, providing unique views of the river and valley. Take a stroll, cast a line for some walleye, watch the rowers and marvel at the towboats and barges. Visitors by boat can use the dock during park hours.

Anyone make the 'round and 'round connection to the carousel restaurant, right across the river from Harriet?

Mon, 01/27/2003 - 10:57 PM Permalink

J: Saying a park has been cleaned out is bad juju, my friend.
