Yes, the camera crew was there; I was with my older son, and he said it looked like space aliens had landed in the woods with all the lights flashing everywhere. It was good fun though...but those woods are really being torn up.
I was at Harriet tonight when the clue came out. I wanted to watch "the show". I couldn't believe how empty it was. It was nothing like Conway when the 11th clue came out there. I guess people just weren't convinced it was there.
AW: the area most people seem to be searching is a big patch of woods next to the swimming pool at Como by Horton avenue. I guess this patch of woods extends all the way to Hamline ave. The clue says it is "cross the street from the sculptors(i can't spell it)" and that is where the woods begin. SO, on Horton a big patch of woods down from the swimming pool across from the Ice Maze.
People just seemed to be running every where and then everyone hit the woods; they don't seem to be thinking about the clues, just a mad rush everywhere and dig everywhere without knowing what they are doing! It was crazy!
Just back from freakin' Como. What a madhouse. I agree that this thing will most likely be found in daylight. Kudos to the cluewriter, they had me completely buffaloed, even though the signs were there.
Were any of you at Conway in 98 when Clue 11 came out. It was a little different because people were already in the right park, but they were spread out through the western half. Then the clue came in and everyone converged on the hockey rinks, almost at once. And I think some of them probably never even heard the clue. They were just following the crowd and digging where they could find space near where everyone else was digging.
I was walking from my truck to the wooded area, and a little car with a trailer went by me. They backed the trailer onto the hill and started unpacking stuff. When I was coming back to the truck, they were selling hot dogs. And I almost bought one.
AW- Hello. And PPPPPPPPPPPPppto como.I was at Conway when that clue came out, on the corner, along the row of trees, on wilson. When the clue came out, the throng converged around the hockey rink. It was NUTS! If that film crew was at como soon after the clue, they should have gotten some really good footage of "The Throng" My heart sank a little bit, but only for a few minutes. I am still having fun. I never noodled through this park possibility, but am home now, and shall proceed, however dejected my pride for focusing on the wrong park. Clever, clever cluewriters, indeed!
I just got home and the place is starting to settle down - there are still large areas in the woods that haven't been raked. I don't think it will be found tonight unless someone is really lucky.
Hats off to the cluewriter! This has been a hunt and a half compared to the past couple years.
Spent a little time in the woods...also thought about down by the street car station. Time will tell what's right. I feel like I need to redigest these clues and figure out where I missed.
I just can't believe that all of us missed the EEE thing - the gate at Hamline and Midway. We even talked about the space needle being red, white, blue. Duh!
I agree with all who say it is a better daytime dig with all those tree things. Everyone was concentrated right by the pool, but I believe that may be to easy and cheesy for this year's hunt.
So I guess "your legions" must just means our legions of hunters?
Looks like "keep yourself warm" and "our door is always open" are two separate clues.
I'm guessing clue #5 is about Como Zoo. I believe it started with the donation of some deer, but I think there's some dispute about whether it was two or three of them. If that's it though, that's pretty frickin obscure.
No idea on Clue 7.
Taking a stroll must be the walking paths, but not sure what the lure me precious to your soul line is about.
Does clue 9 just refer to the baseball fields?
Clue 10 sounds like the Carousel, but is that anywhere near the area they describe in clue 11?
I got that same feeling, KT...but then I never had a clue that Como was a possibility. I sure didn't listen to myself very well this year. Always keep an open mind...but my mind wouldn't go to Como.
Allison - the carousel is near the conservatory which is visible from where we were tonight - but I don't know if you can see the actual carousel building. I didn't think to look.
Another reason I didn't like Como, aside from disbelief, was that as people mentioned things that fit there, they just seemed too spread out and not talking about a specific part of the park.
Well on the bright side, I assume the camera crew is finally getting the footage they've been looking for to finish their film.

I don't think it will be found tonight either, but there are sooo many people there, that the odds are getting more even that it will.
So where is this area? Over by the fire rings? Close to where it was last time? Or closer to the two big picnic shelters?

Well now we know for sure that the reports of it being found at Kellogg, Eileen Weida, and today at Harriet Island are all false.

I agree, Lisa!
There is a wooded area there as well.

We just drove by it on our way out of the park when we were leaving as my son had to get home to sleep for work wednesday
See Steve? I was spreading disinformation.
LOL!
Yes, I was there, Frosti; it was chaos!

Did you see the hot dog vendor was out by Como Ave?
I did not see that hot dog vendor, Frosti; was too busy watching all the hunters!
If you live close to Conway, shouldn't you be lisa651? hehe

Diggin: those hunter tonight had some high powered diggin' equipment!
Hey, nice to meet you tonight at the PP, Diggin'4_it

Tell your hubby that I love it too!

Fooled again!

KT and Allison - Great seeing you at Harriet. Nice to share some disbelief with others.
Nice seeing Marley King and Randy Rust there too...but man did they take off fast.

It was kind of magical, driving down the "Horton hears a who" st.,and seeing all those flashlights through the trees, kind of like a starry forest.
That was a way cooler site, KT. I agree!
Allison - the carousel is near the conservatory which is visible from where we were tonight - but I don't know if you can see the actual carousel building. I didn't think to look.
2 or 3, they seem not to agree...The joke's on us! As I recall, most of us could not agree on 2 or 3 parks that all the clues fit somewhat. hehe
Another reason I didn't like Como, aside from disbelief, was that as people mentioned things that fit there, they just seemed too spread out and not talking about a specific part of the park.
Too sure of ourselves to admit it could be Como again.
Round and round--- Earlier post about a Perry Como song...Or cOmO, two "O's", Or pOOl...and that spells trouble, right here in River City...
the great leap - could that be related to the renovation at Como?
If red white blue refers to the space needle, Legions doesn't have to mean anything - however, it could reference Midway and Lexington.
I think #5 is the Frog Pond
Clue #7 is Estabrook
No idea about precious soul, other than maybe deeper in the woods? The soul of the forest. There are lots of paths around the woods.
I guess 9 is baseball
Yes, the carousel is pretty near the woods.
Man, I just feel stupid that I didn't even admit to myself it could have been in Como. I gotta go to bed. Grrr.
You aren't either. We were earlier - but decided it was a day time hunt.
Oh, and for those that don't know - there is a sign with the capital dome on it right at the corner of Midway and Horton
