Yes, I feel stupid too - I refused to believe it. Now it is time for bed.

Good night.

I feel stupid for not keeping my open mind set to all possibilities. I just didn't imagine they would drop the puck there again so soon so dismissed all the Como connections.

We asked for a tougher hunt and by George, we got it.

I so tend to fixate on a single park, and this is the first time I hit a foul. I guess I deserved this...

11.

Who hears a who? Search a park with a zoo.
Better yet, cross the street from the sculptures.
Its a little bit cool for a dip in the pool.
But a woodsy course will feed you vultures

The lifer clue could sure have been a reference to the old workhouse that used to be in the section of the park.

And ideas about what it's hidden IN? ...Other than a hockey puck, that is.

Something dwarfy and brown is my guess.

No, I am leaving on a biz trip on Friday - you all have fun!!! Night again (and this time I mean it, I have to get up in 4 hours)

Eiyiyi! There was a workhouse there? 20/20 is the vision of hindsight... And that's where the sun don't shine, friends.

Lesson learned here.

Keep an open mind.

Consider all possibilities no matter how painful.

Keep an open mind.

Pace yourself so you have energy left at the end.

Keep an open mind.

And finally, quit worrying about what you might be sharing because you're likely wrong and...

Keep an open mind when others share their thoughts. They might be onto something!

Allison, just what was the nonsensical remark you made about your not partaking in next year's hunt?

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 12:46 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

It's hidden in a pair of boxers! Search for the truth!

I still think #5 is referring to the founding of Como Zoo where there's some debate about whether they started with a donation of 2 deer or 3.

And you guys think you feel stupid for not even admitting the possibility of Como...Not only did I make that same mistake, but I made it after making the exact same mistake the last time it was there!

Why is it so quiet at Harriet Island? It used to be a zoo.... I wish the birth of triplets with colic upon the cluewriter. (Just kidding)Only twins...

I don't feel stupid, just a bit sheepish. Baaaah:P

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 12:50 AM Permalink
Terry

So did I, Allison. I didn't want to believe it was Como last time and got stung. That's a crueler barb to swallow - but at least we managed to get to the right park before it was found. Those cruel barbs are harder to swallow when the hunt ends and you were in a different park and never got to the right on.

Well....

a) I'm not sure I'm even actually eligible to be in the hunt since my Dad works for Northwest airlines.

b) There's a possibility I may move to West Virginia in the next year.

c) If I don't move, I may be turning my singles club into a business and may not have time to hunt.

d) If they're just going to keep putting it in Como, what's the point?

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 12:51 AM Permalink
KT

Terry, are you gonna try tomorrow AM? If it's not found, I'll go. If only to watch the sun rise to a beautiful winter day.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 12:52 AM Permalink
Terry

You don't live in your Dad's house. You're eligible.

What's in West Virginia? I know it's beautiful there though.

And we puzzled out some great solutions for the clues...and had a great time doing it. The fact we were wrong is unfortunate, but certainly not a first.

I think they took it off the PP message boards and then deleted it again when they realized it was fake.

KT - I have to work tomorrow. The auditors are still there and there is some unfinished stuff I have to finish up with them. I hope to be out of there though by early afternoon.

What's in West Virginia?

A woman. Quite possibly the woman.

Allison:
a: Get adopted by another set of parents
b: Fly here to get away from W.Virginia
c:Turn the hunt into a singles party event
d:Hold a world wide campaign to disqualify Como on the basis of it being there too often.Or ONLY hide it in Como.

Wed, 01/29/2003 - 12:56 AM Permalink
Allison Wonderland

I know the triple E thing was mentioned on the board, but I just dismissed it because it was a Como thing and "it wasn't at Como." And I tried so hard this year to avoid saying that. I guess I need to not think it either.

Well, it's way past pumpkin time and I have to be up in 4 hours so I best get undercovers here and get some shut-eye.

Goodnight, SCDs and MCL!

The game isn't over yet. We've got another clue coming and if nothing else, it was fun to see all those lights flashing through the woods tonight. It's not a sight I'll soon forget.

Right? Como was too easily dismissed by so many of us. You're right Ter-lesson learned!

and the mis-information backfired on Jake and Donny, they kept trying to lead people to como with the perry como song (snake came up with the noodle) thinking they were misleading people and its probably the right noodle for the clue.

I agree with AW- posting on boards like this can be intimidating, especially during a hunt when the pace is fast and furious- by the time you get a post ready the conversation is 20 posts past! Every year more lurkers come out of the closet and post, and there are so many ideas flying around-you still have to discern the right ideas from the wrong. How many people were seriously considering como before clue 11? A handful maybe. They put their ideas out there but nobody wanted to listen, so even if the right answers are out there it doesn't mean people will listen and believe.

Ok,

I did say about 3rd or 4th clue if it is Como, I quit. I would like to retract that...how can I quit? But, the thing is...it's not just como, it's the same friggin area again for the 3rd time. Can't we hunt somewhere else for a change? Also, what's with none of the clues adding up (some of them still not adding up) and then suddenly 11 giving it all away like that? I know it's fairly typical, but it makes a true core treasure hunter feel like "Why bother?". I drove around that exact area after leaving McGovern's on clue #1. It is tradition to mill through Como on the first night. I joked how it couldn't be here this year and showed my new hunting partner where it was last Como. Damn! This blows. The crowd had thinned considerably when I ditched the park at 2:15AM, if it isn't found tonight, I guess I will be out there tommorow. Take care all....night!

Just back from como. Things starting to die down out there now. That was great at the PP when they started giving out papers someone who didn't even have one yelled out "It's at Como!" Everyone laughed until we saw the clue.

LOL SM- you can never quit :-)

Wow! The site was down for like 4 hrs!

Since I couldn’t get on PF, I went and slogged over at TC.com, here’s what I came up with (from others and myself) for como correlations to the clues.
I can’t believe it, but I think they pulled a Marley and gave us the park in the first clue!

Clue 1: “Crueler Crew”=Vulcans Krewe, they Come out where? At Como park!

Clue 2: Capitol on park sign

Clue 3: EEEnglebert, shelter, firepit

Clue 4: Coldest star=North? Red white and blue= space needle at State Fair

Clue 5: Lifer- old jail/workhouse

Clue 6:?

Clue 7:?

Clue 8: walking paths, gab aloud w/hunting crowd possible reference to past Re-Hash Bash?

Clue 9: all of the sports @como, Or search for truth =court, making the greatest sport either tennis or basketball

Clue 10: Street car doesn’t get far, Carosel and pony rides go round and round but don’t go anywhere

Clue 11: Horton St, cross street from snow sculptures, ”its too cool for a dip in the pool” could mean stay away from the pool (you’re getting colder) and cross a different street (where you’d be getting warmer)?, woods by either mini golf course or Frisbee golf course?

Shit- I'm still wobbling between zones 3 and 4!

Good Morning!!!

Woke up and wondered if this Como thing could really be real...and it is. Unbelievable!

It's not found yet - but in daylight the odds are better.

Good luck to anyone lucky enough to be out there this morning. I'm hoping to get out of work by early afternoon and join in the search again.

Have a way cooler day!

Accipiitridae

Vulture is the name given to a group of 15 species of birds in the Old World. The largest of these has a wingspan of up to 2.8 m and weighs up to 8.5 kg. The various species occur in southern Europe, India, Africa, the Near East, Japan, and Korea. Possessing keen vision, the vulture can see the carcasses of dead animals and the movements and activities of other scavengers, birds, or mammals from great distances. The vulture also prefers open spaces, foraging over grassland, thornbush, macchia, karoo, desert, and other sparsely vegetated regions, while it avoids large forested areas.

Despite their powerful bill, most species of vultures have difficulty in penetrating the hides of larger mammals, and often have to wait for some decomposition to take place or for the activities of other scavengers, such as the hyena, to open the carcass. Their long neck is usually nude, like their head, enabling them to reach deep inside the dead animal on which they feed. Unlike birds of prey, the talons of Old World vultures are relatively weak and unsuitable as weapons of attack. Their large, powerful wings, however, allow them to soar for hours at a time on the warm air currents. In their role as one of nature's "garbage collectors," the vulture performs an effective and useful function.

Any garbage cans near those woods???
