The Prize: 2 2003 season tickets for the Minnesota Twins, meet the manager and throw out first pitch (and 4 VIP tickets) to BlueJays game April 5, 2 tickets to Las Vegas, Twins Jersey, memorobilia, and gift bag, Star and Tribune prize package.

Wow good ideas me2 and tmk I love the ski and pier !

1st thing I thought of was by the metrodome--I mean inside first but that makes no sense. So somewhere around the outside. But that is still far out.

What about the MAll OF America--Thats private right?????

Wirth does look the best so far--there is a ski jump (like at battle creek) and a pond where folks fish (piers). The murders were scary
me2 but I think that was just the place the bodies where found not where they were ubducted! But it is inbetween a good part of town and a VERY bad part!

Minnesota Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Ceremonial Oaks (Quercus macrocarpa), Highway 55, Minneapolis (destroyed)
Four bur oaks aligned to the four directions and sacred to the Mdewakanton Dakota community became the flash point of a two-year protest. The trees, traditionally used in burials and ceremonies for 140 years, stood in the path of a proposed highway reroute. Environmental and Native American groups cooperated in an occupation of the site under constant police surveillance. Ultimately the courts decided the highway had the right-of-way and the state cut down the trees on December 11, 1999. The wood was recovered by the Native community for ceremonial purposes.

American Elms (Ulmus americana), Victory Memorial Drive, Minneapolis
In 1921 the city of Minneapolis planted rows of American Elms along 3.5 miles of road, one tree for each of the World War I soldiers lost from Hennepin County.

BEST GOLF COURSE

Theodore Wirth Golf Course
1301 Theodore Wirth Parkway
Minneapolis
763.522.4584

One of the oldest public golf courses in the state, this 18-hole stretch is a city gem, smack in the middle of one of Minneapolis's largest parks. After you stop into the Swiss-chalet-style clubhouse, you'll enjoy the sun, the hills (walking the course can provide you a solid physical workout), and the stunning views of the downtown Minneapolis skyline--all while playing a course that's as challenging as it is charming. The front nine, set around Bassett Creek, incorporates a variety of challenging obstacles, from marshes and railroad tracks to manmade lagoons. The back nine, tucked along wooded, rolling hills, will test the skills of even the most seasoned of golfers, regardless of handicap. It's no wonder local linksters love this course; it's tough but true, so you won't feel the need to dunk your clubs in the creek. It's also a bargain: 18 holes cost $25 Monday through Thursday, $27 Friday through Sunday.

BEST BATTING CAGE

Rice & Arlington Sports Dome
1500 Rice Street
St. Paul
651.489.4444

Located in a domed sports complex across the street from Arlington High School, this no-frills cage is a great all-weather slugging fix. Even when local teams are practicing on the adjacent indoor diamond, it never seems to get very busy. And there are plenty of off-hours to boot, since the cage is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week. Best of all, taking a few cuts is cheap and easy. $1.50 will buy you 20 swings; $7 buys 100. Just purchase tokens at the window near the dome's main entrance, grab a bat and helmet, pick a speed--the machines throw up to 50 mph for baseball, and 60 mph for softball--and batter up.

Looking for a clue, here's what you ought to do:
Take a look at Dougie's helmet.
When the tickets in your grip it's not about to slip,
because of six that overwhelm it.

317 ways to be right, four more if left's in sight,
It's time you sat down to think,
Look where things land when they slip through your hand.
Now you're on the brink.
