omgoodness...I just remembered one of the kids today asked me a question. I answered with something profound that even suprised myself and ended with "that is one of the meanings of life" (hoping she remembers as she grows up the values I have instilled in her).....BUT, I can't recall her question OR my profound answer....just that it was meaningful. Now she knows a meaning of life (I hope) but I don't? ::sigh:: maybe its just late.

anybody know an answer?

ok, wheres the end of the world as we know it thread?
I am sitting on my bed talking with all of you while my 6 yr old is drawing pictures of kittens and giving them names...now, she begins to sing "like a virgin, touched for the very first time"
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I asked her why she was singing the song...she said cause we have the cd in the truck and she loves Madonna! Now I know what my parents thought when I liked Madonna almost 20 years ago!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I asked her if she knows what the song is about...she said 'no, what?'
then we started talking about the beautiful kitty pictures she is drawing.

I got a TV Land cd from the library. Many little known facts about TV theme songs (appealing to my inner Cliff Clavin):
Writers on the show Star Trek included Shari Lewis of Lambchop fame, and her husband Jeremy Tarcher
The theme to Welcome Back, Kotter was written and performed by John Sebastian, former lead singer of The Lovin' Spoonful
The theme to What's Happenin' was composed by Henry Mancini (yes, that Henry Mancini)
Alan Thicke co-wrote the theme to Diff'rent Strokes
Mike Post, who wrote the theme to Magnum PI (among others) went to high school with Tom Selleck

I cannot believe these companies...they make toaters...but different styles in different colors- the style I want doesnt come in black...why do they do that?

and BACON! I want to buy it in a ziplock bag for goodness sake!

I just found out I'm not working tomorrow because the schools and everything down here in Hastings close for Good Friday. So I guess people can come over basically whenever they want to tomorrow. Although it's probably best to come after 5pm.

Hiyall! Just breezing through here.....been a crazy past couple weeks for us.

Me2 -- If you really want bacon in a ziploc.....Sams club sells bacon (I think it's Hormel) in something like a 60 pack. It's precooked, you just zap it in the microwave for 20 seconds or so, and if you like it crispy leave it in for a bit after that. It's pretty good, although nothing compares to the real thing fried in a pan. It's vacuum packed so you can buy it and not even put it in the fridge till it's opened.

Probably way more than anyone needed or wanted to know. :)

Allison - your place down in CG sounds wonderful! It would be great to come down, but I have to stay in tomorrow at least long enough to make cupcakes for the middle child's birthday party Saturday. She brought invitations with her to school the first week of the month (figuring that they'd be off all this week, we wanted them out early)...only ONE kid has rsvp'd. Now she's feeling like she doesn't have any friends - I feel so bad, because she's always the caring, compassionate one (at least compared to the other 2).

Anyway, I'm feeling like LL - especially not having been there before....don't think I want to go and have to worry about what the kids are getting into - and we'd have to bring them too.

Ah well - way past bedtime again. I've gotten less sleep this week I think than during the medallion hunt. I only slept more than 4 hours one night, and that was cause Dad shut off my alarm....got to sleep all the way to 5:45! Goodnight and SCD's!

We went out to dinner with a group of friends to the Cherokee Sirloin Room last night. When they came to show us to our table they headed towards the back door and seated us in "the conference room", which is basically a small room with a couple tables with chairs, a scratched up mountain scene on one wall, empty picture hooks on another, and the electrical panel on the wall next to the door. It was the subject of many jokes throughout the evening. Has anyone else been in this room or did we just look like that much of a motley crew?

We're gonna try to make it to AW's tonight, it depends on how easy/hard of a time Marley has working on the van.

Mom - Is there anyway of calling those that haven't RSVP'd? In my experience, often folks just show up without letting you know, but it might be worth a call if you can.

Yippppeeeee!!!! It's Finally Friday!!!!!!

I took the afternoon off and did all the rest of my chores that involved being away from home. Now tomorrow everything here will get done without any fussing.

We're bringing cheese and crackers tonight. I'd bake a cake - but I don't have a cake mix in the house - and I've done my stint at the grocery store already.

No problem. There's a Cub pretty close by if we need to buy a cake. I have stuff to make brownies, well regular brownies anyway. When are people coming over? Still working on cleaning right now, got a late start.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!

And Happy Birthday Marley!!

Still don't know what the evening has in store for us - except that I have to make cupcakes for Hannah's party tomorrow. I haven't been down to your place before Allison - could you send directions? Don't know for sure if we can come, but I'd hate to decide that we want to later and not be able to get a hold of anyone. :)

Better get started on the cupcakes, BBL...
